While Midway has offered up the sale of Mortal Kombat in its continued fight for survival, the troubled publisher's confidence in the franchise isn't quite as shaken as may be believed. Company spokesperson Geoff Mogilner recently told MTV Multiplayer that while shedding the visceral brawler "could happen," selling off Mortal Kombat is "not something that we as a company are going for."
Even so, Mogilner admitted that there is "definitely interest" from other publishers regarding Mortal Kombat, and that "conversations" are happening, though he wouldn't talk specifics. Still, the corporate spokesperson did estimate that the Mortal Kombat franchise as a whole is responsible for an impressive $1.5 billion, which given Midway's current financial upheaval would certainly come in handy right about now.

And then Nintendo can buy all of them and have Nintendo vs. Sonic vs. Metal Gear vs. Capcom vs. Mortal Kombat vs. Marvel vs. DC... and oh, why not just throw in Tekken and Soul Caliber while your at it.
And then you'd have THE GAME THAT MAKES NO SENSE!

Anam, with the suggestion of that game I think I just came.
But how would they get Metal Gear in there?

Or we could just forego the franchises and just have Johnny Cage vs Dan.

Apparently the only companies that even bothered with trying to get the IP was Warner Brothers and Ubisoft and they didn't want it THAT badly.

Weird that MK is considered a good IP. It's never been more than C list at best. I played the MK vs DC one recently the weekend SFIV came out. It was utter turd.

A good IP isn't necessarilly implying quality. It's a merchandisable one, and MK is just that. They had their cartoon, toys, Movies, TV series etc. Whoever has the franchise can make a killing. Execs never argue with merchandizing. Read above "he Mortal Kombat franchise as a whole is responsible for an impressive $1.5 billion" that's in what, 17 years?

Maybe you suck at the game.
Okay that's the inner MK fanboy speaking which would also like you to go f*ck your mother.
My problem with Mk vs Dc is that while is an okay fighting game I mean is fun but the story mode isn't as extended as I would've liked.Very under developed but fun anyway and the endings I admit that at least they are better than the endings in Soul Caliber 4.
Sub Zero ending rules.

Mortal Kombat really needs to go back to it's roots: Oversized mo-cap models with pallete swaps and outrageous "Finish Him" bloodbaths.

I agree. MK REALLY needs to go back to their roots. I hope Street Fighter IV gave the MK team an "eye opener" telling them it's ok to go back. But in Midway's current situation, I think they won't be able to afford models. I tried to get into Deadly Alliance, Deception, Arm., & MK vs DCU but it didn't hold my interest too long. Loved the konquests from each of those though except MK/DCU (which didn't have one). I still play UMK3 on XBLA and still addicted to it.

AGREE. 100%.
What happened to spike pits, and acid pools, and hundred foot drops off of cliffs, only to be slammed into the ground?
What happened to ripping your opponents spine out and holding it in the air as a trophy?
Where is my amazing head-popping uppercut?
MK needs a reboot, and needs more gore. MK vs. DC was too campy. Poor choice for a game that was attempting to reboot the franchise, if you ask me.

Dear Midway,
I've been waiting for a long time to be able to purchase MK1, 2 and 3 on my Nintendo Wii. Maybe you have not heard of their 'virtual console' download service, it's crazy!!! It even can play those games I mentioned!!! Apparently lots of people went out and purchased a Wii.
You can go to www.nintendo.com and read all about this stuff, maybe, just maybe you can get in touch with Nintendo and be able to sell your games - earning you revenue and helping you through this most difficult time.
Waiting to spend my points,
Nook
