I can't believe halo: uprising is finally gonna finish. What started out so promising and simple turned into a year and a half of garbage for Bendis and Maleev.

Still, i'll have to see how things end for whatshisface and whatshername.

I liked the Halo trilogy but I was glad it was done. It doesn't really need to be dragged out any more, Microsoft. Can't you just let it end on a high note and come up with some new IP?

Incidentally, I think "Halo: Hell Jumpers" is the title they were trying to think of for the new game, but just couldn't come up with.

I think that our story with master chief should be done, but I wouldnt mind going back to the time period when Halo Wars is based...

Actually...this is kind of a surprise. Not that there's going to be more Halo games, that's not a surprise, but for a while now Bungie had been stating that the story arc of the Master Chief was complete and that they'd be expanding the universe around that (a la Halo Wars). It's possible that the next game may deal with the Master Chief considering I doubt we'd just let our greatest soldier flounder in space, but I really think that the ending was a nice bookend to his story.

If you think the ending to Halo 3 indicates a "Halo 4", that's a very cynical way to look at it. It would be shameless to simply extend the game to have four on the end when the whole arc was pretty much wrapped up. The next game will not be called Halo 4. I'd bet a $5k the name is not called Halo 4.

I agree, I'm sure we'll see MC again (maybe on Xbox 720?) but the game probably won't be called 'Halo 4'. It would be nice to have some new gameplay, like to ability to level up or something. Just another Halo with more FPS gameplay would be pretty stale at this point.

I don't really see the problem here.. I don't see people complaining about series' like Metal Gear continuing past it's ultimate conclusion, and Halo actually has a diverse enough universe to focus on different stories like this.

Just leave the Master Chief out of it, unless it focuses on the fall of Reach :)

I agree with you snowblind. The halo series really was amazing and the world that bungie created was so wide spread that there is room for multiple games and stories to be told outside of Master Cheifs point of view.

Anyone bashing the fact that microsoft or bungie might go back to the money pot that is halo must also remember our good old friend names "Mario" and his master Nintendo.

There's been like a million mario games and a lot of them have sucked. So far the Halo series and now Halo wars seem to be on par with top of the line games. So stop dissing what 90% of the game industry cant even produce...

So they renamed Halo: Recon to Halo: ODST, and a game focusing on the ODST's is called Halo: Hell Jumpers? Makes perfect sense to me.

Incidentally, has the term 'Hell Jumpers' been used somewhere before? (Outside of Halo I mean.)
It sounds really familiar.

according to Bungie, there will be no new Halo (didn't we destroy them all?). however, for anyone who's played Halo3 campaign to the ending you already KNEW that there was going to be a continuation of the story of the MasterChief (it just won't be a title with the word "Halo" in it).

As long as Microsoft does go soft and create a lackluster game where their mascot turns into a werewolf or becomes a knight, I'll be more than happy. I thoroughly enjoyed all three Halo episodes (Halo 2 was my first online gaming experience and have been hooked ever since) and looking at picking up Halo Wars this week. ODST better live up to expectations. The bar has been raised since Halo 3 came out a few years back with the Call of Duty series and recently Killzone 2. I've been hooked on KZ2 for the last few days and the online matches are pretty intense. And its absolutely gorgeous as well.

ODST and Halo4 (?) will be measured on how they can raise the bar both graphically and play wise. Hopefully they don't disappoint.

I don't see what the big deal about Master Chief is. Really, he's just a voice. In the game he is one of many Spartans, so another Halo game with another Spartan Master Chief would only require a voice, not necessarily a rebirth of the original Master Chief.

You could even use the same voice in some kind of human cloning storyline.

AkaMagi, if you read the Halo books then you would have understood why he is a such a cool character. The Halo games doesn't explore his past or his character. Only the Halo books shows you the psyche of Master Chief.

you know, i think there's a lot out there for master chief to explore. what about that blue planet master chief and cortana were heading towards? new enemies and allies for the master chief to fight & explore would be cool. plus, the master chief can use new moves ala mirror's edge's main character techniques instead of the old moves he's been using since halo1. i was hoping in halo 3 that the master chief would be able to do a barrel roll of some sort to dodge either a sword guy lunging towards me or a plasma grenade thrown at me.

I think Xav is trying to make the point across that Microsoft is really milking Halo. I admit, Halo is an awesome shooter but milking it too much will really make the fans just say "enough is enough".
And seriously what does 2 points really justify? Thats like saying whats the difference between 1million dollars and 1 million dollars+ 2 cents.
Halo 4? whats that going to be, grunts in DDR.

What they hell is wrong with you Caballote?
I'm not sure if you're kidding, but I have an inkling that you aren't.
In which case:
You are just a stubborn Xbox Fanboy. Even worse, you're a Stupid Xbox Fanboy.
I have a couple of points for you to jam into your earwax-full ears.
First: Bungie would never agree to make a Halo 4, and I can't see why you'd think they would.
Not only does Bungie have much more dignity than that, but they like their trilogies, and if their going to do more than 3 Halos, then the only number they'd go for is 7 Halo games (Which would require a lot of time, and be a huge commitment, so we can rule that out). Bungie may do another game in the Halo Universe, but I don't think that they are going to continue it too much, seeing as the employees that are closely related to the Halo Universe are slowly peeling off Bungie to work with Microsoft on secret projects. But who knows, they may do something about the Forerunners, or about Humanity after Halo 3, and yes, Master Chief may come up, but I doubt/hope that he won't be the centre of attention.

Second (I know... this is too long already): Being a Gears fanboy is just as bad, if not worse, than being a Killzone fanboy. Both are games that are just trying to take the spotlight away from Halo, that have huge clichés, and marginally amusing gameplay.

THIRD, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!!: (I apologize for the caps, but if this kid had said that to my face, he I would have stabbed him with whatever was near)
What the HELL is wrong with being Canadian?!?!?
Last time I checked, Canada, and all of it's inhabitants, are awesome, and on average, nicer and more intelligent that the average American.

Sorry Guys. You just don't insult Canada. You just don't.
It's common sense.

I liked the Halo games just fine. But MC is just an awful character, he just lumbers around, occasionally saying a lame one-liner. I am glad they went with the ODST route, some new fresh characters will be refreshing for once.

The comics are good I have the Uprising ones and well is not very focused on MC BTW.Also that it seems the creators of the comic changed the Halo setting for a more neo-punk one, kinda like Samurai Jack.

I agree that Mc is a character with all the personality of a wet plank, makes me wonder why he is so popular, especially in Halo 3 MC barely talks at all,MC got more lines in Halo 2 and with lines I mean one liners.

(Duke One liners>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mc one liners and I have Balls of steel)
