If you haven't already read Joystiq's review of Watchmen: The End is Nigh, you really should. If you have read it and you still have the masochistic desire to learn more, allow us to direct you to the latest installment of XBLA in Brief. Unfortunately, the game just isn't all that great. Of course, we expect that from licensed games, and we might even be willing to forgive it, but the $20 price tag makes The End is Nigh difficult to recommend. Don't take our word for it, though. Give the video a watch and see what you think.

Once I had all of the moves unlocked, I enjoyed the game much more. I loved throwing guys into each other and over railings. I will say though that the high price tag and the lack of online co-op really make this game a less attractive package.
A friend of mine has it and I played it on my lunch break. I got bored of it about 30 minutes in and had to get back to work. My friend beat it and it took him a little over 4 hours, maybe he sucks I dunno. Anyways I'm going over there tonight to either beat his copy myself or watch him try to beat it quickly.
I played the demo through and enjoyed it quite a lot. I am not a Watchmen fan, it looks cool but I've never read the graphic novel so really don't have any basis. Which may mean why I like it, I am not so sure.
If this was 1200 points, I would probably buy it tomorrow. But 1600 points is too much, so I am really hoping not many end up buying it and they lower the price.
It may be one of the best XBLA games in the category of graphics but as we all know, graphics don't make a game alone.
It's funny that everyone seems to be so against this game, because everyone absolutely LOVED Braid which was (much like this game) overpriced and sold on the basis that it looked so beautiful that you should buy it. The game it's self was extremely short and was only 150mb but you had to pay 1200 points for it. However The Watchman is short and expensive but at least your getting a little bit more (1.3gb i think) for your money. I'm not going to bother commenting on the gameplay of either game since it's really up to each person's personal taste. I do personally feel there were better platformers out when Braid came out for far less money, like Sonic 1 and 2, but like streets of rage, it's very old and most people have already played it many times. I'm against the high price of all arcade games by the way, anymore than 800 points for something i cant physically own feels wrong to me.
Grr, Rorschach is talking in his famous deranged voice, but the game takes place in 1972! He didn't take on the child killer case until 1975! Back when they were trying to assemble the Crimebusters, he spoke eloquently! And in full sentences!
Yeah I was wondering about that, whether this game was pre- or post- his life changing event. If you're right and it takes place before, they could use the same voice actor but have him speak a little more normally.
I think you guys are being overly harsh on this game. It's a fun short beat-em-up with good graphics and quite frankly $20 really isn't too much money for a few hours of fun. If it was, no one would ever go to the movies.
Download the trial and if you don't like it fine, but everyone who's remotely interested should try it themselves.
Your all crazy. This game is a fantastic addition to the live arcade. The gameplay is decent but more than made up for with the violence and vulgar language. Youll hear at least over 25 f bombs just in the trial. not to mention the way it looks. I didnt think we would ever see a game of this graphic caliber in the arcade until the next ms console. Odds are, if you dont like laying a whooping on someones ass then you wont enjoy Watchmen. Stabbing someone in the face with a crowbar is pricless to me. The game also is not too short either, not as short as one would think anyways. My major complaints about this game would have to be the lack of online play, boss battles and no kinda map system. Other than that this game is a shining example of things to come for the arcade. A step in the right direction.
