Fallout 3's 'The Pitt' dated March 24, new screens

($10) on Xbox 360 and Games for Windows Live simultaneously. Also, Pete Hines from Bethesda confirmed that the recently released patch for the game "is specific to DLC and is required to play The Pitt. It doesn't address anything with the base game outside of that."In tandem with the confirmed release date, Bethesda also dropped a trio of new screens that you can check out below in our gallery.

I still haven't spent more than an hour with the Operation: Anchorage DLC - so I guess I better get to it. I can't lie, I'll end up getting this when it comes out.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 5th 2009 1:37PM
I just finished the story mode.
I have to say that it's shorter than Oblivion but in my case that's good I thought beating this game was going to take me months.I started to play this game 2 weeks ago.Now I'm doing the side missions which I guess will take a while.
Weird but is really hard to make a Neutral character and at the end I guess I got the ending I wanted not the "The Holy Saint of Heroism" or the "Diabolical Evil Mastermind" stuff but a mediocre ending.
"And so we remember that dude that did nice stuff but let people die because he just didn't fell like dying for other people ya know" although I felt the game called me a pussy for the last choice but my character supposed to be a Charismatic and very bright oportunist that will always do the right thing as long as it is convinient for him even so the game named me "Hero fo the Wastes" for some reason I guess I can't help doing good things.
Same happened in Fable II, my Legal Evil King of Albion at the end turned into a Legal Good benevolent Dictator that gave free social security to all citizens, tax cuts and incentives to the little and middle business. If anyone didn’t want to pay taxes, it was okay I just killed them.
Duke @ Mar 5th 2009 2:19PM
Oh, ok.
WRE @ Mar 5th 2009 1:12PM
I'll buy it, but Lord knows when I'll have time to play it.
ballistic3188 @ Mar 5th 2009 1:15PM
I have say i very much anticipating this dlc. I lived in Pittsburgh for my college years. I hope to see what heinz field looks like. That and i hope they have the Catherdral of learning of U Pitt and CMU campus. I think what sold fallout 3 to me. I went through ruined places of my commute, which was awesome.
BxGT @ Mar 5th 2009 1:17PM
I beat anchorage in 2 hours, this better be longer.
FemaleOrca @ Mar 5th 2009 1:25PM
Took me closer to four, but I agree it could have been meatier.
Then again, I'm the type who can leave no metal box unopened.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 5th 2009 1:27PM
Ditto I like pillage as well.
Reboot @ Mar 5th 2009 1:18PM
It looks great! However, since I hit the level 20 cap, I've decided to hold out until "Broken Steel" is released and the level cap is bumped to 30. I figure I'll pick up both DLCs (I've already played Operation: Anchorage) at that point and finish the game!
Obie @ Mar 5th 2009 1:44PM
Hmm, sounds like a plan.
Jerk Face @ Mar 5th 2009 3:01PM
Yep! Me too. I haven't bought, and won't buy, any of the DLC until Broken Steel drops. Ten levels is a lot of XP to get, so I'm holding off on even finished the couple side missions I have left until then. But when it does drop? That's gonna be a really good month of wasteland gaming!
Jerk Face @ Mar 5th 2009 3:02PM
Err, 'finishing'.
Reboot @ Mar 5th 2009 3:13PM
I'm guessing Broken Steel is still on target (and by "on target", I mean "delayed once already") for April... The Joystiq gods haven't posted otherwise:

I heard the latest patch improved the graphics on the 360 by adding specular lighting.

Loki_d20 @ Mar 5th 2009 5:14PM
Strange, my PS3 doesn't have any framerate issues with the game and the graphics you show look the exact same as what I pay. I am overly jealous of the DLC, but I hope they put it out on the PS3 at the end of the year or early next year. Would love to play through additional content.
Eggy @ Mar 8th 2009 3:46AM
Yay for the fanboys I guess. You can just enjoy games for what they are instead of acting like a 5 year old child who spends more time arguing about which console is better than actually playing games.
teknohed @ Mar 5th 2009 1:24PM
Anyone know if this game will be like Anchorage, in that you will have to access it "In Game". I'm about three main quests away from the end. I've been farting around getting all the achievements and such. I wouldn't want to finish the game only to find out that I'd have to go back to an old save just to play "The Pit".
Duke @ Mar 5th 2009 1:30PM
My understanding was that you have to access this in game like the other DLC.
ChewyDogg @ Mar 5th 2009 3:48PM
Right, accessed in-game. It's basically a new quest line.
Numbn8 @ Mar 5th 2009 1:31PM
Hmmm I wonder if this could be considered a postal simulator,,,, considering I could go into my place of work and kill anyone thats in there.....
Seriously though,.,,,, I am super hyped about this. The second image looks like PPG fountain mixed with The provider from children of the corn.
shawnsee73 @ Mar 5th 2009 1:50PM
Yay for the Pitt
vedgiee @ Mar 5th 2009 1:50PM
After Operation Anchorage, I will be picking this up, regardless of the price.
Dirty @ Mar 5th 2009 1:56PM
This stuff will be awesome when I get the GOTY edition. As cool as this game is, Im just not in the mood for it right now.
baby sea tuna @ Mar 5th 2009 2:05PM
I sorta feel the same way. I think it's just because I'm afraid to go back in after spending so much time away. It's the same with GTA:L&D, I got it, but I just can't seem to *play* it.
Maulok @ Mar 5th 2009 2:00PM
I want this so bad as a Pittsburgh native, but I bought the game for PS3. First time I went against my nature and didn't buy a Bethesda game for PC. That'll teach me. :-(
alu @ Mar 5th 2009 3:25PM
yinz guys gahn dahntahn for some arns n'at?
jagoffs jaggin me aroun' n'at
pete @ Mar 5th 2009 4:41PM

global! @ Mar 5th 2009 5:50PM
u forgot: sammiches, nebby, slippy, eesliberty, babushka, chipped chopped ham, gumbans, jumbo, redd up... the list goes on and on
John @ Mar 9th 2009 7:27AM
I never knew anyone who actually called it chipped chopped ham, mostly just chipped ham.
I hope they have da point 'nat. yinz guys think they'll put in the strip disctrict?
hplcman @ Mar 5th 2009 2:02PM
Will this be available on the PSN on the same date?
baby sea tuna @ Mar 5th 2009 2:06PM
Nope.
hplcman @ Mar 5th 2009 2:13PM
Oh well, better late than never!
CannabisPrime @ Mar 5th 2009 2:36PM
I'm not sure this content is even coming out for PS3. I haven't seen any mention of it anywhere. Did PS3 users get Operation: Anchorage?
No problems being wrong about this though.
KarlW @ Mar 5th 2009 4:55PM
There is no DLC for Fallout 3 on the PS3.
After seeing the comparison shots above, it's clear Bethesda didn't really give a damn about the PS3 version. Last time I buy a game from them.
Loki_d20 @ Mar 5th 2009 5:18PM
@KarlW: Don't believe those comparison shots. I looks like someone just blurred the whole image or something, even the HUD is blurred in the PS3 shot. Playing it on my PS3 at 720p w/HDMI connection looks like the 360 shot. Never has it looked as bad as the PS3 shot shown.
The only reason I had to get it for the 360 was the DLC, otherwise I'm extremely happy with the game and the PS3 in comparison. I hope this is only a timed release and they make the DLC available later on for the PS3 as well.
Rudolphe @ Mar 5th 2009 2:06PM
Fallout was awesome but Operation Anchorage was very dissapointing. Hopefully this makes up for it.
valthun @ Mar 5th 2009 5:53PM
I hope they fix their little PC problem with the DLC. Until that happens I will not purchase another piece of DLC through GFWL.
Rhamsey @ Mar 5th 2009 2:12PM
ill wait till the game of the year edition comes out, then ill get it used, download the info to my hard drive, turn it in within a week and get another game. i did it with oblivion, and ill do it again, this games dlc is really expensive.
incubeezer @ Mar 5th 2009 2:16PM
How would you download the info to you're hard drive just by having the game of the year edition? Wouldn't it be included on the disc or a code? So are you saying you can get the downloadable content for free when the GOTY edition comes out?
Rhamsey @ Mar 5th 2009 2:23PM
if its like the oblivion edition, then you can (and fallout 3 will almost absolutely have a GOTY edition). the GOTY edition came with a bonus disk, with most of the dlc, so i downloaded it to my hd, and returned the disk. i still bought the other dlc not included with it, but i spent so much money on that dlc, that it was getting rather expensive.
Jack Tretton @ Mar 5th 2009 2:28PM
Has Bethesda mentioned how the protagonist gets to/from Pittsburgh?
ChewyDogg @ Mar 5th 2009 4:01PM
Train tracks, on one of those "lever-pump-powered handcars" that you see in Bugs Bunny cartoons.
Pimliconite @ Mar 5th 2009 2:38PM
Bethesda is probably the most egregious bullshotter out there.
Evil Bastard @ Mar 5th 2009 2:52PM
I think I read something somewhere that you will ride a train from DC to The Pitt.
H Choi @ Mar 5th 2009 4:29PM
Damn, I sold my copy of Fallout 3. I guess I'll have to wait for the inevitable Fallout 3 special edition that will include all the DLCs.
Joseph @ Mar 5th 2009 6:09PM
I'm again impressed by the amount of detail they put into the DLC. Bravo Bethesda. As long as I get at least an hour of quality hour of entertainment for every 200 MSP I spend, I"ll be happy.
goldgoldberg9000 @ Mar 24th 2009 9:25PM
hey do you have the pitt? its the 24th and its not there for downloads
Levi @ Mar 5th 2009 6:10PM
I kinda wish I could play the DLC. It's one thing to make a game exclusive, but I think it's wrong to make DLC exclusive. If you release the game on multiple systems, the expansions should come on each system. Oh well :/
goldgoldberg9000 @ Mar 24th 2009 9:01PM
its the 24th and its not out for download, whats up with that.
