Majed,

So there's no user manual of any kind with this game? 1st party downloadables from Sony usually have a manual that you access from the XMB. Pressing the triangle button to get info on a game will show an option for a manual in those cases. Is it possible the HUD is explained there?

for the record, this was developed with nearly no budget and about 2 years ago.

Well even so, it's being released as a PSN title and should meet some of the expectations people have when purchasing it.

Plus he never said it was a bad game. It's a game tailored for short bursts of gameplay and if you're looking for that, you found one option.

From what I was able to make out:
On the left side, the bars are, from top to bottom:
Main gun, the bar is the timer until you revert back to your default gun level (Which goes up as progress through the game)
Missile power, the number indicates how many missiles are fired, and the bar is the timer until you revert back to your default missile level (Which also goes up as you progress through the game)
On the right side,
Boost remaining (Press triangle), when it is empty you can't use the triangle boost anymore.
Ship health, each hit decreases it by one point.

Additionally, more bars can appear on the screen, on the left side:
When enemies are present, a bar with what looks like an arrow for a symbol and which varies constantly appears, I think it is the threat level, but I'm not sure...
When you have picked up the plasma add-on, you can press and hold square to fire blue blobs of guided plasma at your enemies. When you press square, a bar appears, it is the charge up bar. Press and hold until it is full, otherwise the weapon will not fire.
When you have the shield add-on, a bar will appear when the shield is activated. This is the timer for the shield duration. The shield will also collapse after 1 hit. When the shield deactivates, a bar remains, this is the cool-down bar, another shield cannot be activated until this bar reaches maximum.

A few more things:
add-ons are permanent until you pick up another one. So if you got a shield but don't want it, you're going to have to find another one floating around (Either plasma or missile)
Power ups (Lightning bolts) upgrade both your main gun and your missiles (or plasma), both expire at the same time (A power up makes you fire 1 more projectile)
You can find ship energy (circle with four lines surrounding it) and boost fuel (circle with lines pointing at it) floating about if you ever need some.

Of course, to obtain any bonus you will have to destroy something, like asteroids, buildings or ships (Like the game explains in the beginning)

I downloaded this when it went live last week - I quite enjoy the game. It reminds me a bit of Star X on GBA, only better overall. For the cost and file size it's a great deal - it helps that the game is fun also.

Once you get the hang of the control scheme, it's very fun using your radar to loop and rotate around enemies while locking on. I like it, happy I made the purchase.
