Sony has announced that that the PS3 and PSP have passed 2 million and 3 million sales, respectively, in the UK. Of course, the recent release of Killzone 2 plays a big part in the achievement, with Sony UK's managing director, Ray Maguire, calling it a showcase of "the power of PlayStation 3." More interesting is Maguire's view of the PS3's future, however, which he believes "suggests more longevity" in the wake of selling units at a comparatively high price.
On the PSP side, Maguire points to renewed interest in the platform, stating that the PSP-2000 helped emphasize the "portability of the device" to consumers. The interest is said to extend to third-party developers, who have "woken up" to a new business model oriented around online content.

PSP will continue to move units ESPECIALLY with all the news that came out last week. and the PS3 WILL easily move 3 million Units in 2 months if the price is dropped.

Not even if Sony dropped the PS3 to $199.
The PS3 has barely been selling 1 million per year in the UK, and you think they could suddenly sell 3 million in 2 months? That must be some really good stuff you're smoking.

I dont think it will take 4 months assuming that is as long as Sony does the blitz advertisement like MS did when they dropped the price on the 360. Although I do have to admit "now Starting at $299" wont sound as good as "Now starting at $199"

Eh, guess I didn't scrutinize your original post hard enough on the #s to realize. Seriously, I was fine with all the...things like that....BUT when you OVERDO THIS way too MUCH it hurts my eyes, and just MAKES IT SEEM like you're OVEREMPHASIZING EVERYTHING and makes me SKIM OVER EVERYTHING you're specifically trying to get across. It also seems CONDESCENDING to EVERYBODY you talk to. Just my personal opinion. Like I said, didn't realize the #s in your original post.
Use to have a coworker who overdid everything in emails, bold, underline, italics, capitalization, etc. He had absolutely no credibility with anyone. Knowing you as a regular contributor who likes to reasonably discuss things, I'd like to not see it happen to you. What's funny is I had previously bitched someone out for getting on your case about all the ...'s and now I'm doing it about something else.

If you came into a thread about Japanese sales, and I started throwing out figures, would you automatically assume I meant an entirely different market than what the thread was discussing?
Only an idiot would assume people know that you've changed the subject when you don't bother saying so. Anyone other than an idiot would realize that people will equate any numbers you give with the subject being discussed.
Unfortunately, you are an idiot, so you made a misleading statement and aren't smart enough to understand why people are mislead about your statement.
And I seriously doubt they could sell 3 million in 2 months globally either. maybe if they waited until the Christmas shopping season to do their price drop, but considering 3 million in 2 months is about 40% higher than even their holiday sales have been, I don't think that is realistic at all.
But then again, I don't think expecting Sony to do a $100 price drop anytime this year is very realistic either. Sony isn't wanting their games division to sink back into the half billion dollar loss range again.

Akai I see ya point dude. Yet and still thats like going to Canada and Saying "My President is black" its a given that its not referring to Canada since they dont even have a President. I figured that numbers that huge wont be taken as UK sales alone. my mistake

I don't get why there are still ps3 owners who don't have killzone2 I just don't get, I mean I don't even like fps, but KZ2 was my shooter since half-life 2 came out, I actually get excited every time I am about to play it.

Only a quarter of PS3 owners bought MGS4. Believe it or not, only a small percentage of a system's owners refresh game blogs eagerly awaiting news of the next opportunity to justify their purchase.

"The interest is said to extend to third-party developers, who have "woken up" to a new business model oriented around online content."
Finally, developers are understanding how incredibly important the PSP can be now that it can interface with PSN directly. So much potential! The overall importance of the casual-gamer market can't be overstated. Portable devices are practically tailor-made for casual gaming, and most gamers are of that casual variety. Isn't that obvious enough?
Make devices that have casual as well as hardcore potential, and market the hell out of both. Badda bing, you're a winner.
Sony should have focused more effort on developing PSN to hook into into the PSP before the device was released to market; the sea of available software for the device would be many times larger than it is today - more developers would have been attracted and fewer of them would have jumped ship.
Too much emphasis was placed on other media; while it's great that the PSP can view photos, play music, and watch movies, it was never a simple or cheap enough process to get the media on the device in the first place - and still to this day it's not as convenient as it should be.
