There's Something in the Sea and it's BioShock 2 info

Details are (probably intentionally) slim on this mysterious site, www.somethinginthesea.com, discovered by a Joystiq tipster. At the moment, it's nothing but a picture of a map, with a marking labeled 2/20/67, and a few weathered documents in front of it. But it's totally marketing for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams.

One of the papers is the image seen above, which is a drawing of the same Big Daddy doll seen in the BioShock 2 trailer. One of the letters describes the doll a bit: "The head resembles a helmet, the feet could be heavy boots." The letter speculates that the doll "resembles particulars" of an "attacker" that carried out a recent kidnapping.

We're presenting the trailer again after the break, in the hope that one of you BioShockologists will see some new connections between the material on the site and the trailer. Let us know in the comments!

Someone needs to chill out. There were no sexual undertones/connotations in the original Bioshock. Sure, it had themes of the corruption of innocence with regards to the little sisters, but there was nothing sexual about it.

...sorry, couldn't resist. Bioshock had moral undertones in its story which most games don't come close to touching. It was not amoral, as you suppose, but actually allowed the player to make their own moral decisions. Likewise, you make your own decision about how you view the content of the game. However, I must say that if you found implied heavy sexual connotations within the narrative, it's YOUR mind that should be pulled up from the gutter, not 2K's writers'.

Maybe it kidnapped a former little sister? Bioshock 2 = sprawling, open-world, above ground adventure? Potentially with trips to the now long-fallen-into-disrepair rapture, or a new, underground 'Rapture' created by the jobless big daddies?

I certainly hope so.

I was thinking before that it could be a prequel and that this girl gets kidnapped in order to become a little sister but I think that the date mentioned is after the events of the first Bioshock.

So, it is completely possible that because in the first game (Spoiler alert, if for some reason you haven't played it, which is a complete shame:) you either free all of the little sisters or kill them all (I'm not 100% sure on these endings). This could mean that Big Daddies have come up from rapture in order to "recruit" more little sisters because they are lonely.

One other idea that I had is that maybe someone who worked directly with Andrew Ryan is trying to get Rapture up and running again... Maybe it could be a sibling or a son/daughter. Maybe they are trying to validate their father's/brother's work in some way. I don't know. I'm just throwing darts and hoping I hit something.

Honestly...the plane wich you crash with at the bigining of the 1st game looked quite actual to me, and certainly not from the '60s (like the 2nd seems to happen), so no, it's not after...But I had though about the litle sisters also. Yet, it can't be the Daddies who kidnap the girls: the attackers are described as athletic, fit and agile. I don't see any Daddy fitting that description....

I wonder if they will add some sort of multiplayer component for Bioshock 2. It's not necessary but would extend the replay value so long as it fit into the narrative of the game.

They already confirmed a multiplayer component by putting up multiple job listings stating so.

I wouldn't want a deathmatch or capture the flag type thing, but a competitive objective/timed based mode would be kinda cool.

I did love the combat of the original. There were just so many options, it ended up being like Guild Wars - so I'd love to see multiplayer in the sequel.

As long as they build the multiplayer around the game mechanics, and not the other way around, it will be fine.

well, the ETA for bioshock IS october, so seting the last bit of information to be released just before that would be proper.

Well, it sounds to me as if it's a setting for a prequel to BioShock. Probably the beginnings of 'Big Daddy's' kidnapping girls, to turn them into Little Sisters.

(SPOILER ALERT) Actualy the Little Sisters are originally from Rapture. If I remember the story correctly they were terminally ill girls that were implanted with a sea slug that made them almost immortal.

OR

It could be that the Big Daddies have excaped to the surface and have begun kidnapping children thinking they're Little Sisters.
