I'm always late to the party whenever someone starts an ARG, and it's so hard to get caught up once the thing has momentum. I want in on the ground floor for this one. That's what this is, right? Too bad there's so little to go on.

OK, I don't get why everyone thinks this is a prequel.

If the girl (who looks way older than the little sisters in Bioshock) is holding a doll of a big daddy, that means that she has seen the big daddies before. Therefore, the girl on the beach is a former little sister. Due to the content of this site, a big daddy comes back to take her to rapture. Sure, the big daddies were kinda lifeless, but they were certainly attached to the little sisters and would go to great lengths for them. So, (spoilers) after Jack saves the little sisters at the end of Bioshock, a big daddy comes back to "save" the "kidnapped" sister. Makes perfect sense.

What makes ZERO sense is that there could possibly be anything that gives the impression of a prequel.

Exactly! Furthermore, the original game made it very clear that the Little Sisters came from within Rapture. Having some kind of prequel featuring Big Daddies kidnapping little girls from the surface would contradict what came before. (Not impossible, but a poor showing if they were to do it.) Also, the dates on the map are several years after the end of BioShock. Definitely not a prequel.

I like the way you think; here's something else to chew on: The description of the attacker doesn't quite jive for me yet. Like why was the attacker (ostensibly a Big Daddy) described as being preternaturally fast and thin? While Mr. Bubbles could occasionally put on a burst of speed for a rushing attack, I would not call him "fast". And they were certainly never thin! Some of the splicers were fast and thin, but they wouldn't be clomping around in Big Daddy boots, helmet, and drill... Or maybe the conflation of the attacker with a Big Daddy is a red herring.

The girl in the trailer is older and holding a doll, but the girl who got kidnapped was 7 years old. According to the letter, the guy found the Big Daddy doll lying on the beach - presumably the now-older Little Sister dropped it. If there are indeed multiple kidnappings of young girls on both sides of the ocean, it would imply that multiple Big Daddies went out looking for someone to replace the Little Sisters once they left Rapture and grabbed any young girl they could get their hands on.

It seems to me that the photo and the letter were sent to a private investigator. This investigator is looking into the kidnapping written on the newspaper clip. I would assume that during the time it takes for the release of the game that the site will continue to fill up with more kidnappings happening all throughout the Atlantic coast line. Looks like this site my get interesting...

The last sentence of the newspaper article says "Sgt. Michael Whelan encourages anyone with information to come forward..." Perhaps the letter is sent to him, and the writing in the margins is him dismissing it.

Looking at it, now I have to think, how does the title of Bioshock relate to this viral. I mean yes, duh, the word sea should be pretty obvious to us who played bioshock, as that was what we saw when we walked around rapture in the windows.

Though why is it Sea of Dreams? What does the word Dream mean with bioshock. I mean rapture was a utopia- a demented one of course, but if it is considered a sea of dreams, that means the whole sea.... Maybe there was more to rapture than what we originally thought! Maybe we only got to see the main area of rapture, or of course a secondary location(Like a secondary Halo on a certain FPS.) I hope 2K doesn't do that of course, since it would tick me off.

But think about it, if you are going to have supposed "Big Daddy" attacks throughout the whole Atlantic Coast. they have to be coordinated.

Also with the map that shows the other dates, it is physically impossible to get from one side of the ocean to the other side, WALKING ON GROUND FLOOR, in less than a month. Of course these are Big Daddies, but even then it is too huge!

I think they are placing these girls in a hub that directs them to other Raptures.

My opinion: Congratulations people, you saved(Or killed) the Little Sisters in ONE Rapture, but hell, we didn't even get to save the others from the many raptures lying around the ATLANTIC.

Also that center could show the main Rapture controlling all Raptures.

*Obviously spoilers*

As others have suggested, I believe that the girl in the trailer is a former Little Sister. Given that this game seems to take place seven years after the original, and that the Little Sisters seemed about 6 or 7 in the first game, the girl on the beach looks to be about the right age.

The fact that she grasps her Big Daddy Doll affectionately, and that she looks out to sea longingly, implies to me that she remembers Rapture fondly. That she apparently recreates Rapture's cityscape out of the sand at her feet only seals this impression.

If she now lives in the outside world, this means that the "good" ending to Bioshock has been accepted as canon. Perhaps with this particular little sister, the first game's protagonist was not entirely successful in curing her, and she still feels the sick attachment to Rapture and the Big Daddies. Given that she desires to return and that she can obviously wield plasmids with great power and precision, maybe she will be instrumental in recreating Rapture. Perhaps her obsession has even made her powerful enough to guide the Big Daddies to attack and kidnap other girls to create a new generation of Little Sisters.

Anyway, this obsessive need to recreate her screwed up childhood may explain the subtitle, "Sea of Dreams."

Well if I remember correctly, the big daddies rely on the little sisters for adam, and in turn protect them. No little sisters = no adam, and like any junkie, they are going through withdrawals. Explains the skinny (weakened?) big daddy kidnapping the child.

If it's a sequel they'll have to declare one of the endings "real". When I heard of the sequel I hoped the bad ending would be the real one, so the protagonist of the first one could be the antagonist of the sequel. What a twist!

Give up? Here's the answer:

That spot is not Rapture (Rapture was more North).

That spot is Rapture 2- the creation of Andrew Ryan's Vita-Chamber'd doppelganger. He is recalling the Little Sisters using the same conditioning that he applied to the main character in Bio1.

The spots marked on the map are the last known locations of the individual little sisters before they "disappeared."

THANK YOU! I was starting to think I was the only one who had noticed that ANDREW RYAN COUDLN'T HAVE DIED IN THE FIRST GAME. I spent the entire rest of BioShock waiting for him to pop out from behind the curtain and axe Atlas, but apparently either the story writers forgot about him being able to use the Vita-Chambers or he has bigger plans....

Forgive me if anyone has already commented on this, but what do you guys think about the unusual footprints discovered on the beach by Jeremiah Lynch? The tread mark is quite feminine, if you ask me, and not particularly large. But what to make of the elongated toe?

I can make out "Okay, that seems helpful, thank you" or something like that. Maybe a helpline of sorts.

Anyway, of the few days we've seen so far, I've noticed that these might not be the Big Daddies that we know and love. The newspaper clipping from Day 3 notes that the kidnapper was a "lean figure".
The Big Daddy may have removed his suit, but that would be pretty damn awkward to run around with a freaking diver's helmet on your head. I imagine it'd be pretty wobbly. >_>

And speaking of helmet, another newspaper clipping notes the light came out of something more akin to a miner's helmet.
But we still know there's red lights under the sea.

Does this mean we might see daddies on land and sea?

Interesting.

Obviously, someone is trying to recapture the Rapture of old... Jack saved all the Little Sisters in Bioshock 1, leaving no more gatherers to collect ADAM. Something about the DNA of little girls between the ages of 5 and 8, say, make them the best gatherers. If a nefarious someone wanted to regenerate Rapture or establish another a Rapture-like world, effective gatherers would be needed.

Either that, or some emaciated Big Daddy is feeling nostalgic and lonely...

The date and location of the events of Bioshock one are :

1960
Mid-Atlantic

Dont believe me? You didnt play Bioshock, it says it in the opening sequence, so shut up.

All the dates on the new website are in the late 60's, like 67. So I think its FAIRLY SAFE to assume that its a sequel.

Now I am going from memory, but I am sure that at the end of Bioshock SPOILERS ALERT

You see the main character, or who you believe is the main character, grow old with the Little sisters he frees around him. So we can probably assume that the girls being kidnapped arent the little sisters.

END SPOILERS

Pretty much each location on the map on somethinginthesea.com is on the Eastern Atlantic coast, or are connected to it. Way I see it, alot of the scientists and characters in Bioshock were European, so some naughty European scientist is reviving rapture, using healthy, non terminally ill children to continue the scientific bollocks that had Rapture buggered up in the first place in an attempt to perfect it and continue Adam Ryans dream in Rapture.

That is all

ok this has nothing to do with any new ideas about B2 but...

on this picture: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/260890/map.swf
one of the dates end at 9/29
could this be the date for when B2 will be released?
its in october and 2K said expect it around october-ish...
so what could the other dates, besides the facts of when the girls are kidnapped and where they were kidnapped, could these dates mean??
could 2K be releasing new hints at their site, somethinginthesea.com, and any other website?

could we finally expect that gameplay vid all of us BioShock fans are desperately waiting for??

Who the hell is this jackklassen2003 guy? The references he makes have no relevance to the game whatsoever. He obviously is a lunatic. First of all why would you even admit to playing a game you absolutely hated and were disgusted by? Whatever game he was talking about it definitely was NOT Bioshock. He needs help......MENTAL help.......

Regarding the trailer....I'm not exactly sure what to make of it. The first game was so mysterious about a lot of the backstory that it could be anything. I was thinking that the girl in the trailer was one of the little sisters a little more grown up and that maybe (based on the Gameinformer magazine reveal) some of the little sisters from the first game become Big Sisters as replacements for the Big Daddies from the first game. Whatever it is I'm really looking forward to a return trip to see more of Rapture. The first game was awesome!

Well, the big sisters are obviously replacing the big daddies. My speculation is that you'll have to kill the big sisters to get to the little sisters that she carries around in cages. They won't be wandering around next to them like they did the big daddies. Seems like they're taking more precautions to protecting them. Just as they've gone to such great lengths to kidnap little girls all over the world to make new ones. They all look alike just like the little sisters in part one did. I could be WAY off, but whatever the case is, I can NOT WAIT for them to release this game.

The red light in the sea is the "Big Sister" the insane little sister of the girls who leave with Jack in the first game. She gone to the only home she really knows and loves and returns to topside to collect little girls to turn to "little sisters".She is what the notes are about.Shes turned Frank's factory back on and got the adam flowing in Rapture once again, "Jacked herself up on meds and running the city keeping a watch as HER city lives on,but she sees a place that is nomore as the city she remembers as a little girl before its ruin.I know Jack might not make it in finished bio2,but WE will be the first "Big Daddy Ever Made" in this game.Shes pissed him off and he wants her dead! And I wish people would understand that this is pretty much a movie in a game and movies and games alike often set fires under people like that of a normal house fire and can blur the ideas that artists like the creaters of this beautifully designed masterful movie in a game and reading between the lines to much, trying to blame games for the kids acting and living out games in real life when the parents are to read the ratings of games before they are played by the kids in the first place weather bought or barroaded from friends.THE PARENTS! So Jack Thomson needs to fight another fight and let the parents and rating system do THEIR jobs! Enjoy games like this and loss yourself in games like this as they don't come by that often. So please find the beauty in this game and leave it at that.
