With its global online support, we expected that Arc System Works' console port of arcade brawler BlazBlue would eventually be released outside of Japan. Now niche publisher Aksys has quietly revealed plans to bring the elegant 2D fighter to North America for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Like their counterparts in Japan, fighting game fans in North America can look forward to mastering super moves and combos this summer, as players beat the heat by staying indoors away from bears and tiresome physical activity. With King of Fighters XII slated for a July release as well, the only question we're left with is: How will our hands survive?
[Thanks, Nick]

You should read the article again/better. The first phrase is "With its global online support".

For PS3 owners... While the PS3's d-pad is definitely better than the 360's, its segmented design can be torture on your thumb! So I highly recommend a Saturn USB pad. IMO, the Saturn pad is still the best pad ever for fighters and the PC USB version works perfectly with the PS3. I've been using it with SFIV and it works great. I snagged one for $20 off eBay about a month before SFIV released. They seemed to take a bit of a price jump once SFIV released, but you should still be score one fairly cheap.

Funny how alot of d-pads went down the shitter after the Saturn. Even the Dreamcast d-pad tore your thumb up, lol.

This is old news, it was on x-play a few days ago and they said summer release. Also it does have online play, if you want to see some gameplay footage just go to g4tv.com and search for it or something.

As nice as KoFXII looks, I am far more excited for this.

Same here. Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to KOF, but the animation in those games has always been jarring to me. I was hoping they cleaned it up with the move to HD, but everything I've seen points to the contrary.
It's still a definite purchase, of course.

I can't believe I'm the only one here so far that's played it (at least from what I can tell). This will be the best fighter this year. There's a JP import cab a few minutes drive from me, Street Fighter 4 gets neglected when I'm on BlazBlue...

HEY! Aksys Games is going to release on both the PS3 and 360? Much better than their stance last November where they basically ported a multiplatform game for a single console and I was stuck importing from Europe to play this game. Maybe my picture of the import copy and the middle finger I sent to the publisher brought the point up loud and clear....

I regret to inform you that you have sent your middle finger to the wrong company. This is... one of the dimmer moments in our console's history:
It was Sony's refusal to give Aksys a license to publish the PS3 port of Battle Fantasia that resulted in this problem, not Aksys refusing to release both versions. They localized both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of BF, but they could only get the publication license for the 360. So if you want to send your middle finger somewhere, please send it to the manufacturer of the console and ask them why they would refuse your money.
If it softens the blow any, the ESRB recently updated the list of consoles BF is rated for to include the PS3. It sounds like now that people have bitched at Sony enough, they may have relented and given Aksys the license they needed. (No official announcement has been made, so please take this ESRB-based conjecture with a grain of salt.)
I'm glad BlazBlue won't be a repeat of that debacle. Having more people able to play this jaw-dropping fighter (whether in arcades, on PS3, or on 360) can only be a good thing!

As someone who just now got their hands on a PS3 (I've been Wii only this gen. for about a year and a half), I have to say that I'm completely suped about the awesome selection of quality fighting games so far (both the ones out already and those that are upcoming).
Having only had a Wii, the one thing I felt that I was really missing out on was the fighting genre (only exception being SSBB, but that's hardly a traditional fighting game by any stretch).
So far, I've traded in a few old Xbox1 and PS2 games and used the credit to pick up Soul Caliber 4 and Virtua Fighter 5 for my PS3, both incredible games. I still can't wait to pick up SFIV, KOFXII should be great, and now this is my most anticipated fighting game yet.
My PS3 is quickly shaping up to be a non-stop fighting machine, and I have to admit that I'm loving every minute of it. Now, if we could just get Tecmo to port over DOA4 (hell, they released Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PS3, why the hell not DOA4?) my life would be complete. Oh, that and if Capcom released Tatsunoko vs Capcom Wii here in NA, but I'm seriously considering just importing that bastard from Japan and enjoying the hell out of it despite the language barrier.
These truly are the best of times for fighting fanatics. What a wonderful world.
