Dude, I don't know how long that cow will last. So Guitar Hero will have full band instruments and then you'll have band hero as well. People will most definitely get confused. Hell, their already confused with just guitar hero WT and rockband 2.

lol And people were actually raging on harmonix about their band only games (ACDC and the beattles). The only reason they didn't release those games as DLC is because those bands apparently haven't discovered the internet yet and expect you to buy their songs by the album, not individually. In other words it was a "Take it or leave it" type of thing.

Actually, I like how the ACDC pack was released, it wasn't really meant as a standalone game at all, just a add it to your music collection. Also the Beatles thing actually seems like they are building it from the ground up instead of a face lift like guitar hero does.

I HATE ACTIVISION WITH ALL OF MY BEING.

Make a good game with an engine that works before you make 7 more. Horrible excuse for a company.

Didn't at some point the CEO douche of Activision say he has like 2000 people working on Guitar Hero? At some point their work is gonna be released, it might as well be now, I guess.

It would be like that if Rock band was released globally and not over a year later with ridiculous prices. If its Americans that you are talking about, then yes =p

Okay, fuck it. I've been defending GH forever because 1: The sheer stupidity of RB fanboys at their heights reached levels that Sprinkles could be ashamed of and 2: Playing Devil's Advocate is fun.

But if they're really going to announce five new games, I'll officially quit the so-called "GH Defense Force".

You could always do what everyone else does and not buy the games you're not interested in buying. I haven't bought a new music game since Guitar Hero III. I don't see why people even give a shit.

Not buying it is kind of implied by commenting disapprovingly.
All you're really saying is "I wish you people would stop voicing your opinions on rhythm games on this entry about rhythm games on this gaming blog. Also, WAAH."

Is anyone else getting sick of these dang music games?!?! They are making soo much money off the DLC songs, if i could use the songs in more than one way, i.e, burn a CD, put on my ipod/iphone i "might" buy some, but only being able to play the song while playing the game is stupid and making a lot of people rich. I'm sure it's good for the executives but give me something original.

I read somewhere, I think here even, that Harmonix was looking into deluxe DLC in some capacity that would do just that: you get an MP3 or whatever along with your in-game purchase.

Yes, but if they increase the cost to, I had heard, $3 a song, what would be the point?

You can already get a song for the game and an MP3 for $3 as it is. Often less.

$3 a song for a 20 track album would be $60 bucks!! Hells no!! With Apple getting rid of DRM maybe all the DLC for these music games should follow suit and be mutli-useful. I've never purchased a DLC song but if they increase it to around $1.50 and I can do what I want with the song, play the game with it or burn it, etc. that would be sweet. $3 is tooo much, stop milking the cow!

....I know I don't want to buy it... but... I know it's going to have one song that I'm going to say "FUCK YEAH I HAVE TO GET THIS IMMEDIATELY" and then I wind up buying it despite the reviews on how it sucks compared top Rock Band. It's just.... BAH DAMN YOU PURPLE HAZE FOR LURING ME INTO BUYING THAT AWFUL AWFUL GAME! DAMN YOU BOBBY KOTICK! Maybe if I shut off all communication from the world I can trick myself into thinking Rock Band is the only game that allows you to play as a band. No no, that's in the public eye is called Guitar Hero.... but why did Guitar Hero get Drive? I'm so scared! The 250 Beatles game is going to be enough but... I don't know anymore! D: It's going to have Magic Carpet Ride or some shit!

Because people don't have having the same game released every year with slight tweaks/updates? (See Madden.) And the fact that Activision is intent on releasing the same game four times a year (excluding handheld variants) is much much worse?

But is variations not a good thing? Do you not want to see your favorite band in a game?do you not want to play the great songs of the early games with better charts? I for one am excited for a Band Hero, but you have a right to your opinion....

Well, there's a very diverse population breakdown amongst anti-Guitar Heroers. :P
You've got the backlash hipsters, that hate it because it's popular and selling gangbusters, you've got the ironic anti-corporatists, who hate the product placement and awkward celebrity appearances and the phoney "attitude", you've got the anti-Activision people that hate their franchise exploitation and Bobby Kotick's stupid fat face and want to punch him, you've got the design-geeks that hate the clunky interface choices and stiff presentation, you've got the anti-disc-swapping folks that hate their preference for market flooding over centralised platform-building, and you've got the purists that hate their note-charting and loose precision requirements. There's probably some more but I was worried about overlap.

Apple should get into this market. Being that they have a strong relationship with publishers through iTunes, they should create a full band rhythm game/platform in which you can have access to ever song in iTunes for a monthly subscription. They should start charting every single track in their library starting tomorrow.
