Had an Elite since around when the first became available here in New Zealand. My Premium (20gig) had just RRoD'd two days prior, and my constant moaning to the misses about having to wait for the other console to come back convinced her I needed an Elite. Anyother thing that made me want it at the time was we had recently purchased a proper HD TV and I wanted to use HDMI. Back then, only Elite's had an HDMI port.

The funny thing is, is getting that Elite home made me forget about the Premium... It ended up taking 8 months to get the thing sent away. I like the Elite, as the black colour scheme suits the rest of our entertainment gear better than the white, and the 120GB drive comes in handy for demos, and retail games installed to the HDD etc.

Just to maybe back this Rumor up. In the UK very recently, retailers have the Elite on offer £199 "for a limited time" (rrp is 229 I think) and its not just one company thats doing this.

This is just stupid. Why would you try to make a year old console exclusive!? This is laughable!

I bought an Elite when they launched for the HDMI compatiabilty, and felt right screwed when it was shortly announced afterwards that all 360s would have an HDMI port.

Finally my decision is being justified though, as my sleek black Elite is now a collector's item. Ebay here I come!

if microsoft started selling pro 60GB at 199 they would reach first place in no time i mean with all the features and games that the XBOX 360 has now there is no stopping it. but i also see why they havent done it with the recession and all.

Except for the 120 gig HD, I'm thinking that nearly any 360 can look like an Elite for only $2.50 plus a little time - thats $1.00 for a can of black paint and $1.50 for some masking tape. :)

Sorry I'm late to the discussion. A page back people where talking about how slow the guide button is and here's a fix that worked for me.

To clear the cache, please follow the instructions below as accurately as possible:

Boot the X360 (but don't sign-in) > System Settings > Memory > Highlight Hard Drive and press Y > Then press X X LB RB XX and select Yes to preform maintenance on the HDD > Restart the X360

Note: Clearing cache may also improve game performance and other dashboard functionalities. Remember, clearing the cache will delete game updates (which are very easy to restore)

Don't matter anyway it comes configured. The 360 unreliable is junk.

Dude by yourself a replacement DVD drive off Ebay for 30-40 and your problem is solved. I just bought two, fixed two xboxs for 60 bucks! (now im selling them on ebay)

from what ive read monoprice is the sh*t. $4 for a 1.3 HDMI cable vs 200 at best buy for MONSTER cables... can there REALLY be a $196 difference?
