The rumor mill has been spinning off its axis since Capcom project manager Matt Dahlgren told us that Wii-owning Resident Evil fans will be "very happy, very soon," inciting feverish speculation on what project will instill said happiness. Game Focus' recent interview with Dahlgren might put said speculation to rest -- according to him, fans of Resident Evil Code: Veronica should pay close attention on March 12 for "news you should be very pleased with."
The date that the pleasing announcement will apparently be made coincides with Capcom's San Francisco launch event for Resident Evil 5, a perfect opportunity for the unveiling of a new project -- but is an updated Wii version of Veronica the project everyone was hoping for? To tell the truth, we were holding out hope for a Resident Evil: Survivor remake. Oh, well.

Sure, if they remake this game properly with the RE4 engine then it will almost certainly be good and I will buy it for definite.
BUT IT WILL STILL BE ANOTHER FUCKING REMAKE.
Of a game that has been released ALREADY on THREE different consoles.
For. Fuck's. Sake.
Anyhow, I hope this isn't what the news turns out to be; I'm hoping for anything original that has non-rail-shooter RE gameplay.
But I'll actually buy anything RE they put out if it's any good at all (significant upgrade over the previous version, ie using RE4 engine, for a port; long and high-quality, if it's a rail shooter) and probably Capcom know this, damn them.

or just Capcom in general. Hell, at least Square made TWEY and Lost Odyssey

Capcom also brings a lot more good original titles to the table than Square does, though. We all enjoyed TWEWY, but does that really make up for their DS remake fest or their no effort Wii shittings?

yes, yes it does

If it turns out to be just a port with improved graphics and same control....
... Capcom will recieve a shitstorm they will never forget.

A new RE Outbreak with RE4 controls (but add moving while shooting like REO File 2 had) and WiiSpeak. kthxbai

Code veronica was good, but I already played through it twice so I kind of don't need this again. This feels to me like one of the least suited RE games for a remake.
Also, what everyone else said about wiimakes. This is annoying.

You know what? Scrap all this "if you're a Wii owner and a R.E fan, then you'll be very happy, very soon" bullsh$t!! Thanks Capcom!

I would be against Square for the fact that they haven't released anything for the PS3 or for how awful War of the Lions was, but goddamn, Crisis Core and Tactics Advance 2 were awesome.

Since when did Square Enix have anything to do with Lost Odyssey? >_>;

The last REmake they made was amazing, so I have faith in Capcom, and
I missed out on Code: Veronica (no dreamcast and could never find the ports) so If this rumour is true thats great news for me (assuming its going to play like RE4)... Hell remake any game and have it play like RE4 wii edition and I'll be happy as a pig in shit.

I don't.
Capcom had been doing a great job of skating by on the Wii by porting otherwise good games (RE4 and Okami) and having quality, albeit low budget, games periodically (Z&W, RE:UC).
when they announced Dead Rising, though, it kinda put everything into perspective. They still, by all accounts, aren't taking the Wii seriously and they apparently have no plans to in the future.
I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm bitter and cynical at this point and doubt I will be.

Actually, and maybe its because I never had a 360 to play the original Dead Rising, I'm having a lot of fun with DR:CTYD. Sure, there aren't hundreds of zombies running around, but its still a blast of fun to play. I'm not too far into it, but I just took down that psychotic clown with the chain saws. Good fights so far. Favorite weapon: hot frying pan, and hearing it sizzle whenever you smack a zombie down with it. :) Oh...and I hate those damn poodles. ARGH! I have to say, though, that overall I agree with the IGN review of it: it may not be the 360 Dead Rising entirely, but its still a blast to play and take down those zombies.

What?
Talk about taking something out of context and then close it all with jibberish.
My comments were aimed at those game developing companies offering exciting new or more welcomed horror titles for the Wii, which never took footing,
and then a distaste for last minute board meeting decisions for a quick buck.

Oh wow look at this POS. Here's another Wiimake I won't be getting. What a huge announcement, I'm so surprised. This game was great for it's time like RE 4. Come on Cpacom be more creative. Monster Hunter 3 on Wii awesome but please let RE CV rest in peace!

I just beat RE:CVX and I thought it was really the worst of the Resident Evils. While it's not the one I'd like to see remade the most, it's certainly the one that needs it.

You know, I would hope based on saying that Wii owners will be happy, they're not just gonna shove another remake in our faces.
We're getting sick of regular shooters... If they're gonna make a claim like they have, they gotta blow us away.
Not that I am entirely concerned, what with my 360 having RE5 to look forward to thursday buuuuuuuttttttt...
...I wouldn't mind the remake, IF, they did it with the RE4 engine. If they REALLY wanna blow us away, they'll have been planning a massive overhaul of the entire series, in which they made the 1-3 all reworked into the engine.
Yes, I know it'll probably never happen because it would be too much work for Capcom, but I can dream, can't I?

I thought CV was a great game, was actually thinking about having another playthrough sometime, guess I'll wait for the news though now...just in case. AND if it is CV getting a REmake, I'll be happy - not as happy as getting an RE2make...but after what they did with REmake...count me in.
Include classic control options pls.

They keep churning out the remakes then they get pissed if gamers decide not to buy them. I really don't understand that strategy at all, if this was any other company I could understand but Tasenoko Vs Campcom is beautiful capcom knows how to get the must out of the Wii they just aren't going to try and I have no idea why.

Why would they even want to remake Code Veronica?
And this is why I'm buying a PS3 before too much longer. I want RE5. Not that I won't be playing a ton of MadWorld and Conduit in the coming weeks, but I really want RE5. And SFIV. And Blu-Ray.

I had Code Veronica on the Dreamcast and it always froze at the end of disc one; I think it was after entering a train. I would buy it again even if it is a straight port but I would prefer something more ambitious, like a brand new game in the RE4 style.

I hope they re-do some of the voice over work. If memory serves, one of the villians in Veronica had probably one of the most annoying voices in the entire series...
But... If they only had Wii controls to this, I don't see much point in purchasing since I own it on Gamecube.

I sold almost all my games for GC except for RE and Zelda. I have:
RE0 (GC)
REmake (GC)
RE2 (GC)
RE3 (GC)
RECVX (GC)
RE4 (GC and Wii)
RE:UC (wii)
I am sick and tired of ports and remakes. Don't get me wrong, I love REmake however, look at the list i posted. There are 0 original RE games for Wii (UC doesnt count). FFS!
CRAPCOM couldn't excite me with a pr0n minigame after you finish the game.
