EA announced today that Godfather II has gone gold -- the Corleone family is ready to take over Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 7 in North America and April 10 in Europe. The publisher sent word last month that it was planning for an April release, but considering the previous February launch date was violently capped so close to making retail, this latest word is simply affirmation that the game is coming.
April seems to be a relatively quiet release month, so getting the "Don's View" of things and pre-ordering the game for the Tommy Cipolia character might be worth it for fans of sandbox-style crime games who have extorted all they could from Saints Row 2 and GTA IV: The Lost and Damned.

I agree bro...I hate EA so I dont think I will be buying this game.....I dont even think they are gonnna follow the story of godfather 2 (which was my favorite) so if anything it will be a rental.

this games is no going to do well, apart from how terrible it looks they kept looking for the perfect date that no other game will be release in so people will have no choice.

What do you mean 'no choice'? I don't think even EA are bad enough to force people to buy games at point-blank range.

The graphics look fine to me. I just hope it's because they've spent all the time on the gameplay instead of the graphics.

I also played the Wii version of the first one. It was in the 'good but not great' category - as in, if you don't have anything else to play, you should definitely consider it, but it's probably not something you'd get that excited about. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean the second will be the same.
(Incidentally, bit disappointed there's no Wii version - because there are certainly plenty of months when there aren't any Wii games I want, so yes this would have met the criteria I just stated...)

It's weird how this series and the Mafia series are officially rivals a la Saints Row and GTA, but I have a friend at college who swears by the original Godfather; whereas I preferred Mafia.
To me, this looks a lot like Scarface (not identical, but the same kind of gameplay), so it could be alright but has a lot of potential to be messed up.

If early reviews are any indicator about the finished product this game is going to be critically acclaimed. Thus far it has two metacritic scores one of which is a perfect score of 100 and the other being an 81. http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/godfather2
I have liked what I have seen about the game up until now but I'm just not sure it will resonate with me. Though the books and movies are some of the best in their respective mediums the games don't have the same feel. I can speak directly about the first game which I didn't like that much at all but will hold out judgement on the second iteration. This does look to have more of a micro-management role of the syndicates illegal operations which is a must for any game revolving around organized crime. I want to supports EA's new initative of realsing high quality titles but I'm not sure if this one fits into the same mold as Dead Space, Mirrors Edge and Battlefield Bad Company among others. Hopefully this game belongs in the same discussion as Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row in terms of fun and quality but at the same time is fresh and original. It has the potential to be a sleeper hit if a certain level of polish is achieved.

I have an early demo on XBL & all I can say is GOTY contender for me. Mixes gameplay of Scarface, & GTA, with it's own Godfather originality to perfection. It plays & handles sexy.
