There will be plenty of butterfly floating and bee stinging in the ring this summer, as EA announced that Muhammad Ali will be one of two cover athletes for Fight Night Round 4. The boxing legend will share the space with powerhouse and controversy magnet Mike Tyson. We just hope Ali knows to duck out of the way should Tyson's eyes flash red before schooling "Iron Mike" in a lesson of sweet science.
Both will be playable in the upcoming title, which is currently in development at EA Canada. Also, eager players who lay down a pre-order for Fight Night Round 4 at GameStop will net early access to the game's demo, giving them some extra time to live out pugilistic dreams before the rest of the world laces up.

It will be nice to give a beating with Mike Tyson rather than have my ass handed to me again....poor Lil Mac.

I think his (and Don King's) salary demands were insane back at Tyson's peak. Then after his rape conviction, he was pretty much radioactive as a celebrity endorser. His career since being released from prison has not lived up to his early dominance and promise. I think only now that he seems to have given up on boxing for good can nostalgia start to grow for his younger days.
There was a Mike Tyson Boxing for the PS2 several years ago, but good luck finding three people that bought it.

What's the deal with limiting demos to those who have preordered, and from a specific retail outlet no less!?!? I'm looking forward to FN4, but I'll want to play a demo before I firm up my purchase decision.

Yea, it's not a good idea. Why would you let people who want it so bad they preorder a chance to "try" the game? Oh well, I'll just wait (let many I'm sure) till there's a public demo, which will probably hurt day 1 sales.

So you think people shouldn't play demos of games they know they are going to buy? Will waiting until launch day to play a demo really delay your purchase by any noticeable amount of time? What does "let many I'm sure" mean?
Sorry, your post just filled me with questions. Enjoy the game.

It is entirely possible to pre-order with Gamestop, get your early demo access key, and then go switch your pre-order to something else. At least, this is something I have done in the past at my local brick and mortar shop.

Sorry I'll make sure to proofread this comment. What I meant to say was the point of demos are to get people interested in the game that were maybe on the fence about. If you dont give everyone early access to the demo, the people on the fence may not buy it right away, or even forget about the game. "Let many" was supposed to be "like many".

Agreed.
And to others who replied, it's not about NOT wanting to demo the game, it's about allowing GS to control who gets early (or total?) access to the demo.
It boggles my mind why developers and publishers bitch and moan about how GS is killing their profits by selling used copies that they see not a penny of, yet they gladly partner with GS to offer early demos and other types of game DL and swag, just for early pre-orders.
First, demos can be had from PSN and XBL so right there, you don't need GS. And as a paying Gold XBL subscriber, I would think that was plenty enough for me to have access to demos when they are released. I realize this may have nothing to do with MS, but rather the developer, but at some level, Sony and MS may want to put some pressure on EA or others to dissuade them from these kinds of deals. Second, they don't need GS as a retail channel. You have plenty of retail channels just with Target, Walmart, and Best Buy. It would not hurt their bottom line to just kill off GS as a retail partner. They could simply offer the same swag and early demo deals to other retail partners that AREN'T cannibalizing their sales by selling used copies.
I can only guess that with the cash GS has amassed, it's too tempting to pass up some cash payment from GS in exchange for an exclusive demo that GS can offer. Its all about generating foot traffic for GS.

"For this fight, I’ve wrestled with alligators,
I’ve tustled with a whale.
I done handcuffed lightning
And put thunder in jail.
You know I’m bad.
I have murdered a rock,
I’ve injured a stone, and hospitalized a brick.
I’m so bad, I make medicine sick.
I’m so fast, man,
I can run through a hurricane and don't get wet.
When George Foreman meets me,
He’ll pay his debt.
I can drown the drink of water, and kill a dead tree.
Wait till you see Muhammad Ali."
"Lennox [Lewis] is a conqueror? No. I'm Alexander, he's no Alexander. I'm the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. I'm Sonny Liston. I'm Jack Dempsey, there's no one like me - I'm from their cloth. There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children."
If the game doesn't include any interview segments with Ali and Tyson, they are wasting the license.

The demo will still be released either on the day of release of prior to the release. A pre-order simply gives early access to the game.

I find it amusing that you choose to call me a moron during the conclusion of what has to be one of the most ineffective attempts at communication in recent history. I sincerely hope that English is your second language because you can't even express your anger in a coherent manner using the language. You should be ashamed of the garbage that you just typed.
er...what I meant to say was...
Yo yo yoyoyoyoyo...don't be dissin' me like that dawg. Why you gotta be hatin'? I didn't call you no names or nothin' like that son-son! You need to ease up and slow your roll kid. I was only playin' man. You ain't gotta get all 730 and bust a cap in my ass or nothin.

I think its crazy they put convicted rapist on the cover of a video game. How much money is that woman beating rapist going to get from gamers in royalty for this? Shame on EA.

Matthew,
He paid his debt to society so who are you to say he shouldn't be able to make a living because of something he did in his past? Once the man did his jail time for the incident it shouldn't hinder him from employment or making money.

I LOVE fight night games. There is no better computer generated way to relieve stress than punching peoples faces till they bleed with your analogue sticks.
If you've got real rage all you need to do is concentrate on one eye and watch it turn into a gooey, bloody mess. Appeasing.
Controls, boxers, graphics and gameplay have all been spot on previously, hopefully Round 4 carries on the trend. I love to create a "bigger" likeness of myself and lead him to victory pummelling faces all the way.
Whoooooooo for Fight Night!

I disagree that the gameplay was spot-on in the previous iterations. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't boxing. It was just "who can get the most haymakers on the other person first" and "don't punch first because then they'll parry and you'll be wide open for two seconds".
From what I understand, this is looking to be more like actual boxing than those games were.
