Argh! More Layton we can't have. Get on the other games already, I bought 2 copies of Mysterious Village (one for me, one for my wife). It's such a good game!

At least we can import and watch these with sub titles. Unless you know Japanese (which my better half does, but she doesn't much care for games :( ), there's no reason to import the other 2 games.
Stupid NOA.

Hopefully, though, since the game dominated the charts in Europe/the UK, they'll be getting the sequel, which can then be imported.

Its not just translating but i culture diff too. Some puzzels use metric vs english, or currency, or other things.
It still should take this long though! it had to be popular so im sure they're making sure its quality and the third wont take as long as the 2nd is.

I seriously doubt translating currency or metric system is time consuming.

I could be mistaken but didn't Studio Ghibli (Hayao Miyazaki) do the animation for the the first Layton game? I believe they are doing the animation for three of Level 5's new games including the sequel to the first Layton game. With that said (which could be inaccurate) I hope that means Studio Ghibli is doing this movie. Also, when is Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea going to get localized and released here in the states? I watched the movie and it was really charming (like all the Ghibli stuff) and heart felt since it was meant to be an olive branch to Miyazaki's son who left Ghibli to be a director elsewhere.

Production IG did the animation for the Layton games (same studio that did Wario Shake).
Level 5 is teamed up with Studio Ghibli, but they're making a completely separate DS game called Another World, if memory serves. Ghibli isn't doing the Layton movie animation. There's no way we wouldn't know if they were!

That would be so epically nice if Ghibli and L5 had some sort of quid pro quo going where they'd be working on this film as well as their previously announced title.

"Now here's a quick riddle: what is so much easier than a DS game to add English text to?"

Just releasing the game in Japan and telling the rest of the world that you don't care.

So... they're actually calling it Professor Layton: The First Movie...?
*ahem*

"That's like calling the first Lord of the Rings movie "Lord of the Rings: Don't worry, we're gonna have a SHIT load of sequels!""

Props to anyone who gets the reference! Oh, and yeah- LAYTON TO THE PEOPLE, ALREADY!!
