This Wednesday: Peggle, Crystal Defenders & NCAA Basketball MME [update]

PopCap Games' alarmingly addictive Peggle and Square Enix's Crystal Defenders will both be releasing to the Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, March 11 for 800

($10) each. That is, if Major Nelson and his podcasting co-host, e, can be trusted (we think so!).

This week's Peggle release isn't all that surprising, seeing that a recent press release confirmed a March release, but hearing that Crystal Defenders will complete this Wednesday's XBLA twofer, well ... that's just out of left field. Not that we're complaining or anything, we're just overjoyed that Bjorn will be giving our 360 an incurable case of "Extreme Fever."

Update: NCAA Basketball MME is out too! (No demo available.)

$10 for a FF-skinned Tower Defense game? You can get this same game for your click-wheel iPod for $5! And for your iPhone for $8! Not that I have an iPhone, though...

And if you don't have an iPod or an iPhone, it would seem $10 for the XBLA version is a great deal.

Unless spending $200 on one of those two gadgets + $5/$8 for the game is a better deal...

Well for me I'd have to buy a 360 so thats 360 price+$10 where I could just get the iphone version.

Then buy the iPhone version and STFU already.

The iPhone version blows. They didn't make it work with the touch screen. They just used half the screen for a "control pad". Spend the extra $2 and get a decent port.

Anyone know if the version of Peggle on the Xbox 360 will be the same as Peggle Deluxe on the PC and Mac?

I purchased the Mac version and just hope the Xbox Live Arcade version adds more to the experience rather than just a port.

After seeing Zuma and Bejeweled on the PSN I'm guessing that this is just a cash in with not a single new feature.

I'm pretty sure you'll find Peggle XBLA contains all kinds of new stuff, including multiplayer.

oh dear God no. peggle is probably going to be the reason i'm not going to graduate. notice the future tense. i am powerless to stop it

I find Peggle to be a nice distraction sometimes, but I've played and beaten it and it really doesn't have any lasting appeal for me.

I think I might wait for the Popcap Arcade Hits Vol. 2. I could use Heavy Weapon as well.

I have never played peggle and I have been saving my points for it since December.

At least I can use my girlfriend to farm more achievement points from it.

Major Nelson's latest podcast also said that the Maw DLC River Redirect would be out on Wednesday for 160 points as well.

Maw content would be awesome, I love that game.

Finally PEGGLE!!! My most anticipated XBLA game since TMNT 1989 Arcade.

now i gotta quit puttin' off getting that hard drive. Peggle is da bomb!

I'm just going to buy the popcap disc for Peggle. Think I will be getting Crystal Defenders though unless I hate the trial.

Popcap already got my money for Peggle on Steam and Peggle on my cell phone.

I'm sorry to say but they probably are gonna get me on this one, too. Especially if it has multiplayer and sweet, sweet achievements.

I'll definately get Peggle on XBLA if it has multiplayer. Otherwise it might have to wait, as I already have the first two on Steam.

Hopefully this is an easy question to answer. Peggle XBLA and Peggle on PopCap's disc are compatible with one another when playing it online?

I've never played Peggle but I hear everyone everywhere LOVES it. So this is my chance!

This is going to be the first tower defense game for the 360. FF Crystal Defenders was probably the worst TD games on the iPhone, hopefully they let us see the whole screen on the 360 this time.

Peggle = Win.

Might have to buy it.

I have Peggle on my laptop, and really that's all I need. I still have to come back for the challenges whenever I'm bored. Works well to pad time between classes, too.

Well there goes another 10 of my dollars into Popcap's pocket....

When is Crystal Defenders coming to PSN?

I wonder why they don't release that kind of game on a portable platform? Seems kind of fitting, especially when it was originally a mobile game in the first place. It would be great if the PSN Crystal Defenders was like a PS1 game that can be transferred to a PSP.
