There are a few things to be gleaned from the Ghostbusters multiplayer details recently posted on Kombo.com. First of all, the game features co-operative multiplayer in which players catch ghosts as a team. Of particular interest is the multiplayer campaign mode, which allows you to earn cash and upgrade your equipment. There's also an Instant Action mode for less patient players. Beyond that, there are plenty of other details: six power-ups, twelve maps, six different game types, etc.
The problem, see, is that Atari forgot one important piece of information concerning any Ghostbusters multiplayer experience: What happens when you cross the streams? It's a vital detail and, frankly, we're shocked it's not even mentioned. We can tell you this right now: If nothing happens when you cross the streams, the trivial geek rage will be heard the world over.

Don't cross your streams.

The answer is that the gaggle of nerds, self included, waiting to play this game are going to be too geeked out and anxious to really take heed and pay attention to the 1st commandment of ghost busting.
What result is a game breaking flaw of head asploding everywhere.
As such, we must be allowed to cross the streams. I know this will totally ruin the immersion of actually believing I'm a ghost buster and all, but I think this was a vital concession that had to be made.
DOES THIS POLE STILL WORK!?

Maybe they'll have an automatic "Cross the Streams" blocking system in place so no streams can be crossed accidentally. ;)

That would be no fun!!
They should give you the harshest punishment ever for breaking the first commandment of geekdom. Maybe like... watching all life end on the game and then powering down your Xbox/PS3... only to boot it up and find your hard drive was wiped.

How did they forget to mention it?
Its Ghostbusting 101: If you cross streams, shit will go down.

I'm willing to bet that the streams can't possibly be crossed.

As much as I hate to say it, odds are crossing the streams would just cause damage to the player.
As cool as it would be to have an instant game over every time your friend's aim sucks, I think it'd get old pretty quick.

I think they should have two or three settings.
1) Nothing happens,
2) You've got a very brief window of time to un-cross the streams before suffering the consequences, or...
3) "Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light."
I'd be fine with only option 3, but from a gameplay perspective, I could see where they may at least want to offer the option of leniency...

I'm almost positive this was addressed in a developer interview somewhere, in which they said nothing will happen if you cross the streams, for obvious gameplay reasons.

The game resets orrr....
it breaks the fourth wall and the reality within the game starts crumbling and in that exact moment there will be a warphole within our world pouring out the ghostbuster and their world.

From a preview of a test demo a reviewer got to play, he crossed the streams, and absolutely nothing happens. Originally it was going to do something, I think shut the Proton Pack down.

A plea to Atari:
Don't allow stream-crossing, else that's all that will happen whenever you're online.
If you leave it in, imagine a Twinkie.....

I crossed streams once when I was a kid. Piss went everywhere. It was crazy.

I think the whole stream-crossing thing CAN have a gameplay solution... so please, please don't just leave it out. The game doesn't need to be lightning-fast, IMO... ghost-busting should involve a lot of chasing and a little strategy rather than just tossing peter venkman into a gears of war-esque game :)

I hope it has offline co-op support so my wife and I can enjoy bustin' ghosts. Also any word if Bobby Brown is an unlockable character?

There has to be an achievement/trophy for crossing the streams... it's just too awesome of a thing to not be rewarded with.
