I said at the PS Blog that it's excellent for SCEA and Universal to finally partner up for downloaded TV shows/movies. I'm curious in a way if the pricing will be the same as everything, or if it will be quite variable.

Now I just hope a deal between Sony and UMG can be made for the SingStore (because there's no UMG songs there).

WHEN THE HELL IS THIS VIDEO SERVICE THING COMING TO EUROPE!!!!

Eventually. The reason it came to the U.S. first is because the U.S. IS the biggest market. It came to Japan second because Japan was considered the second biggest market. The trick about the video store is that when SCEA or SCEJ obtains the rights/license to put certain content on the video store, it is ONLY covers the U.S. in SCEA's case, Japan in SCEJ's case. Movie and Television companies are EXTRMELY picky and want their stuff region locked and licensed region by region. We do not see a video store yet in Europe because SCEE has to license TV and movies for each and every single European country seperately. It also hurts by the fact many shows/movies are distributed by different companies and different countries, where some companies will let you put it in the video store while some will not. That is why it took the XBL Video Marketplace longer to get to Europe because of the complex licensing in every single region. Without a doubt it will come to Europe, but it will take time (Canada and other regions will get it too).

Don't blame Sony for the complex licensing process, blame the movie/television companies who absolutely enforce region locking and licenses to be dependent on country.

I agree with Mana Knight.

Now it might not go to every country in Europe. It might just be UK and such.

But there is no european store.. it's one store for Germany, one for UK, one for Austria...

Maybe that's the problem.. smaller markets.

Not when you want to watch a series from Season 1 to the present. Hulu is great but it is very unorganized in terms of full content.

Yeah, about the pricing, what is the pricing for these episodes and such. I don't really use the video service on the PSN because of the ridiculously high cost of everything. I'd rather use Hulu and Netflix through PlayOn and watch as much as I want to without all those $1.99 and $4.99 charges adding up to God knows what every month. They need to start offering some free streaming content through the PSN to get me to use it more often. But then again, the access to the PSN is free, so they gotta get paid for something, right? Am I right???

Is there a way to buy the whole season of something at once? Or do I have to buy each episode individually?

The article mentions PSP, but is this only via the PS3 Store? Because don't see these videos on the PSP version of the store! :-(

If you want to see TV shows like Battle Star Galactica or many other NBC programs for free on your PS3, you should check out hulu.com. It plays full screen video in your web browser just fine and who can say no to free stuff. It doesn't have all the seasons/episodes but it will often have the last 4-5 most recent ones available. It's definitely worth checking out on your PS3.

It will take 12 hours to download and then it is still is not 5.1 sound. On-demand still kicks its butt. or just ti-vo it.
