exclusive dlc is the worst thing ever. if there's dlc releasing for a multiplatform game, all platforms should get near equal treatment. it's not cool to leave people out of extra content for a game.

I don't know, I felt slighted by the main game's ending. Almost like they're trying to sell us the ending as well as the main game. I won't be buying this because I feel it goes against the spirit of DLC being beyond the main game as this ending should have been included for my $60.

But this isn't the ending that should have been in there, this is an epilogue. The ending you got in there was as it should have been, and you probably would have felt it was anti-climactic to put the epilogue in the main game, i know i certainly would.

This way of doing it means that you take a nice break and then get a nice bonus several months later. And it's only ten dollars, its better than spending that extra money on a collectors addition thats for sure.

I know what you're saying and I agree with that principle, but PoP: Epilogue really doesn't feel like that. If you enjoyed the game then this is definately worth your money in my opinion.

Are you claiming that the ending to the main story of Prince of Persia wasn't an anti-climax all by itself?

I don't know about you, but I ended the game with a real bad taste in my mouth.

You know, I haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere, and this is only going on what I've heard (I haven't played the game yet, I'm planning to rent during the summer), but I got the impression that they left an unresolved ending because they were hoping for a sequel (even a trilogy). Then, when they realized that it wasn't as well-received as they'd hoped, they decided to just conclude things in the DLC, in case a sequel wasn't approved.

I might just be apologizing for them, but IMO they didn't plan to end it this way when they finished the game itself.

Except the DLC doesn't conclude things and just ends with another "to be continued" moment.

I thought the ending was fantastic.

****SPOILER ALERT****
****SPOILER ALERT****
****SPOILER ALERT****

The whole way through you kind of have this pre-concieved notion that it'll inevitably finish with the typical "they save the world and fall in love" ending, which made the fact that they had such an unconventional ending in making you completely undo all of your efforts really satisfying.

I'd always thought that a proper sequel was inevitable. At the end of the day, even though this has some interesting dialogue between the characters, it still ends in the same place as the main game; Ahriman is back and the world is corrupted again. It means that you can still enjoy a sequel if you haven't played the epilogue.

I didn't like it better... I liked the "exploring for light seeds after the healing" part more than the "avoid the corruption to get to the boss" part. The DLC was nothing but avoiding corruption. I'd really like to see difficulty increased using some light seeds that are really hard to figure out how to reach.

Also, the ending to the DLC was more of a joke than Assassin's Creed's abortion of an ending.

Hmm just traded this in today ironically towards GH metallica (surprised they gave me $35 for it since it's been out more than 3 months). Wasn't very impressed with it to be honest. It seemed to drag on forever and I was, for the most part, doing the same thing over and over again.

I'd give it a 6 if I was reviewing it.

I got the trophy for finishing this in less than two hours. Even so I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Usually I'd scoff at the idea of £8 for a couple hours of gameplay but I loved the game so much that I didn't care. And I'll be going through it at least one more time as there are still some frescos that I missed. So that's at least 3-4 hours right there.

I was thoroughly dissatisfied with the Epilogue. This "new move" left me feeling no more sense of urgency than Ormazd Step/red plate move...because they're exactly the same. And since this is an epilogue, I figured we'd get more of a story, which I've summed up for those of you on the fence:
Prince: "It's not my fault!"
Elika: "I'm not strong enough!" *cry cry cry*

And that's what you get for $10. I enjoyed the regular game, but this was not worth it in my opinion. Save you're money for something else, unless you really want to pay to get some trophies/achievements.

The word "epilogue" led you to believe that? Because an epilogue is a little extra bit that takes place after the story is over.

Here's my quick addition.

The glitches receive no mention in the review? The "shapeshifter" takes a good 5 seconds to change from one form to the other, leaving you with a weird moment where the prince and elika in the middle of the fight stand there staring at a big black blob.

On top of that, the minor problems with combat haven't been fixed. For example, sometimes after the shapeshifter changes forms, he'll go into an Unblockable set of moves, and any sort of QTE's don't register, causing him to get a killing blow on you, since all your moves don't register (I don't know if anyone else had this problem in the main game, but i did, not a big deal though). This sucked in the main game, but now, since this event causes the shapeshifter to go back to the annoying gaurdian/king form, it's infuriating when it happens, having to push his heavy ass off the edge again.

They really should have just stuck with having you fight elika's father.. No need for the strange shapeshifter. He has no story, elika is even surprised he exists.

I had dialogue that wasn't there, I don't know if it was just me either, but the prince mid-sentence just stopped talking, good thing i had subtitles on.

The Load/Save mechanic is also annoying. Yes, the DLC is short, but having to go through 5 menu's to reload a save is sort of ridiculous.

With all of those complaints, I still enjoyed the story/platforming. Just, it does seem like the folks who wrote the main game had been fired/went home and the interns all sat around and made up crap to sell some DLC.

Not nearly on par with the fine writing of the main game.

I can't wait for POP 2 though...

I had the thing where he stopped midsentence too, but it only happened once and I think he was almost done talking anyway. And I don't think the shapeshifter thing is really a glitch, just, like you said, a bit of a masked-load. Never had any of the QTE problems though. I had it on PS3. Are you on PS3 or 360? Maybe one version is glitchier than the other?

I had a weird glitch where the effects on the enemies wouldn't show up (like where you can only grab, or use elika, or use the sword). I saw the animation for going into one of those modes, but i just had to guess which mode it was. But that only happened once. I also had a few times where i constantly heard this weird high-pitched tea-kettle-whistling type of sound effect, on top of the music, that wouldn't go away (even in the game's main menu or after reloading a game) unless i reset the system.

One that happened repeatedly was if I paused and quit to main menu while the shape shifter was shape shifting, the system would freeze (this was PS3). I got this a few times while trying to get the trophy for beating the shapeshifter before he changed back into the warrior, b/c i'd reload the save file.

I don't hate all DLC, but I dislike the trend of DLC that should have been included in the game in the beginning, like this Epilouge and Broken Steel DLC for Fallout 3.

I also dislike the trend of having online multiplayer but no splitscreen multiplayer in many games. : ( : ( : 0 : )

Energize is pretty much another alternate version of the Step of Ormazd, but having things pop out of nowhere for you to run or climb on is pretty fun. :P

"Ubisoft should be commended for using its Prince of Persia capstone as a means to address some of the criticism faced by the game."

I definitely agree with this. It gives me hope for the sequel. I liked PoP, but I think the Epilogue is better than the main game. :P I've finished it three times, getting all of the trophies.

You didn't mention the combat tweaks. You have a new ability to charge at your opponent by mashing X. On top of that, you now have the opportunity to catch yourself when you're getting knocked down. If you fail to do so, though, it's harder to dodge the "finishing blow" that Elika has to save you from. It keeps combat flowing at a better pace. I'm not sure if these changes are retroactively added to the main game. I think someone mentioned somewhere that the Prince now climbs on vines faster than he did before, and that it happens in the main game as well as the epilogue. I haven't tried it out for myself, though.
