Does this mean there's going to be *gasp*

...a PATCH for controls?! HOLY SHIT!!!

The names of these modes don't make any sense with the control control scheme, that's all I'm saying.

It sucks, but $5 is hardly paying out the ass. Back in the day, Capcom would update your catridge and charge you another $60 for it (Street Fighter II). Hell, Final Fight Guy didn't even make Final Fight arcade perfect.

You'd think that if they were working on something like this they might want to, you know, promote it some. I've been on the fence to buy this game for a while now and added multiplayer outside just campaign co-op is really appealing.

Also: Would team slayer imply more than just two players at once (you'd have to have at least two teams of two, right?)

Only now?
What about all those costumes that are available for ridiculous amounts of money for the fighting games, those things were free and unlockable ingame a year or two ago.

But having multiplayer modes ripped out of the game and sold seperately is a step too fucking far! A pox on you Capcom, you wallet-raping facists.

This better be free DLC. I mean, the game hasn't even dropped yet for North America and they're already near 'announcing' the content.

So why wouldn't said content be on the disc I already paid full price for? The online component for Mercenaries has already been active through an update with no additional charge so why should these updates be any different?

Uh maybe because announcing is slightly different to having the said announced content finished or even started on.

If their is a corresponding Trophy for the DLC game types listed under the Trophies tab, doesn't that imply that the content is already finished?

Maybe I'm wrong but you need to have the content completed before you code for the Trophies. Otherwise it would be kind of inefficient?

Aw man... I want to get the 360 one because I prefer the graphics in that one over the PS3's. But, if this DLC costs money like it probably will, then it will be 80% cheaper to buy that DLC on the PS3 due to PSN letting you share DLC with 4 other people (see cheapassgamer.com forums).

Quite a conundrum...

Not only that but the PSN uses real money instead of mickey mouse points so you don't over-purchase points to buy something cheaper.

It better be free. I hate when companies whip up DLC before the official release and then sell it at or near launch. Should be illegal.

If you were to go to a car dealership and they sold you a car but then after the purchase you realized that you could only get the engine from that location for an additional fee, wouldn't you stop/cancel future purchases at that dealership?

The problem is that we gamers only have two options: Stop supporting this kind of behavior by withholding our money or buy it anyway. There really isn't any alternative to try and stop the practice of 'immoral' DLC.

Companies know that there are plenty of people that WILL pay for the content regardless (due to the fact that a large percentage of current consumers are from the age of 12-17, who also could care less).

Wow, that may be the worst analogy ever. They're not holding back a key that prevents the game from spinning in your disc tray or anything like withholding the engine from a car would be.

A more apt analogy would be if a car dealership told you the price of the car and then at the last minute told you you had the option to buy a bunch of "extra" stuff like floor mats, aluminum kick plates, extended warranties, cargo nets, etc. Which of course, is exactly what they do.

Not that I'm in any way trying to condone the action here, but I'm near positive this DLC for RE5 will be free. Pay DLC is typically costumes, weapons, extra missions, etc. Entire multiplayer modes are typically released as free patches.

I thought they were just announcing it, to be sold when they'd actually finished... not that you would be able to buy the content on release.

If the above Trophies are already found under the Trophy tab in the XMB then that implies the content has already been completed (maybe waiting for NA release date or finalization).

Depends on the developer.

Fallout DLC is actually neat or when is just for the kicks like in Dead Space.I would like to mention Fable II but the story mode was too short by the end and being extremly skeptical I'll blame the DLC for that.

Stuff like Crackdown DLC that is stuff already inside the game certainly is not neat.Or stuff like map packs with only 3 friggin maps,I'm looking at you Bungie / Epic (More Bungie than Epic,at least some maps were free in Gears of War).

Hold on a second. They've already developed (or some of) the DLC for RE5 and it isn't coming with the game that we are purchasing? They better hope it's free, because if I recall correctly, many developers said DLC wouldn't be taking substance away from games on release, i.e. stripped from the retail copy, only to be charged separately thereafter.

I'm with you but here's your mistake:

"Many developers" isn't every single developer. Also, they haven't contractually agreed to anything so they can say whatever they want and change their mind down the road if they so desire.

I tell you now if this DLC has a price, I'm not supporting it, especially when this crap is going to make my Trophy profile look like I haven't achieved 100% for the game.

DLC can be the worst or best thing that's happened to gaming. It's all up to the developers and it looks like Criterion has done it right as well as a handful of other studios. However, whore developers like Rockstar and Bethesda (level 20 cap removed with future DLC expansions and exclusive DLC, wtf) are giving DLC a bad name.

Yeah...Bethesda. I really like Fallout 3 but the DLC, including the one that effectively changes the fundamental ending for the game, it's inexcusable.

Somebody should be stringing up Todd Howard or whoever's responsible for making the game that way to be hung by their balls. That's not a game. That's opportunism.

If this has a price tag, I would not even buy the game (if I was planning on it). I mean US $65 (+-tax) is a large amount to throw down for a game that they are going to end up charging $5-10 to make it complete... especially only a week after the game launches.
Not to mention playing the demo was like a chore to me more than fun...

I really cannot see what is so great about this game.

I don't know about this content specifically, but the idea that all DLC is stuff held back from the game is silly.

Games have to be done and put on shelves sometime. A developer probably doesn't finish a game, not touch it for months, then come back and say, "Okay, time to make some DLC." They have to be working on some of the DLC during development of the actual game. And they have to put a limit to what they'll put on the disc so they can actually make whatever deadlines they have. If you had them hold the game until all extra content was done, the game would never come out.

Unless you're talking about MGS4 or Killzone 2, space really isn't an issue. At least for the PS3. Maybe the 360 games have (or will have) trouble with this.
