A possible reason why it's DLC (hopefully free) is that it couldn't fit onto a certain DVD-9 that one of the consoles supports...

Outside of the money-grubbing aspect of it all. I'm just saying, it's a possibility.

Fallout 3 and Gears of war 2 only take a DVD 9,why the hell would Re:5 take more space? What the vein textures in Chris Roid-field neck take that much space?

I know where are you going with this,I always thought the multi-disc stuff was such an stupid argument. You'll have to be extremly lazy to consider inserting a disc into a console a pain in the arse, you change disc everytime you play something else.

I have no problem changing disks myself, but it'd suck if you had 50 GB game that required 5 disk swaps (that's arguing conservatively though, it's more likely to be only 3-4 DVD-9's)

It uses the same assets as the game disc. Assets are the big stuff. This code is likely a few MB big. Nice try though.

Oh please let the MP mode be something like Left 4 Dead or Gears of War Horde mode.I couldn't stand the Wingman matches in Gw2.

man im sick of hearing people complain about the controls.the controls are just fine and there aint nothing awrong with the way he cant move while shooting.resident evils always been like that.this is a game.part of playing a game is adapting to the controls.you dont just get into a car and drive it away.first you have to learn to drive.

this dlc seems cool.its good to know theyll be working on this even after release.it would be nice to be free but lets put it this way,all capcom have to give us is a single player campaign for that 60 euroes we pay.they didnt have to include merceneries but they did.this dlc is welcome with a price tag on it

The controls ARE fine but how would the game work as multiplayer agaisnt real players?? The outbreak series worked but of course it did, it was just the same resident evil game with more players.

Team killing on Resident Evil erm...the only way i can think it would work is by incoporating the cover system from the latter parts of the game and well isnt it then just a very slow gears. im suprised if it can even work

Found this post in gamefaq boards, someone has the official guide they say has details on the new content ( which seems odd thing to put into a guide)

Slayer: Plays very similar to Mercenaries, but with players competing against each other to get the highest score from kill infected souls and B.O.Ws. A handicap system helps the player with the lowest points by doubling the amount of points they are awarded (though this doesn't apply to combo bonuses). Time Bonus and Combo Bonus rules apply as before, with enemy types and item locations remaining the same (as in Mercenaries).

If any player dies during a game, they lose points and will reappear elsewhere on the map to carry on playing (note: you may sometimes spawn in the heat of a battle, or next to a boss). There is no limit to the amount of times you can die, though you shouldn't expect much of a score if you do too often. Most players will encounter enemies on difficulty grade level 6 (Normal/Veteran), but the leading player must battle enemies on Grade level 10 (Pro level).

There is a lot more, but it's involving statistics, and bonuses. Essentially, a Versus Mercenary mode.

Survivors:

This game variant is all about Player VS Player action. There are still aggressive creatures present, making the arenas more challenging, but their frequency has been reduced. Combos no longer play a role, as the points you score are directly received from dealing damage to other players. There are no points for killing monsters. You must also strive from taking any damage from the monsters yourself.

Each player starts with just a basic firearm, with powerful weapons littered about the arena. Every map has different combinations of weapons, and you may wish to acquire weapons from bosses by killing them.

Rest is statistics. Essentially a versus Mercenary mode, but with points coming from directly harming other players themselves.

There are team versions of these modes, pitting 2V2 action. So, obvious what they are.

Thank you for clarifying. This sounds more like RE-style multiplayer than the "OMGGEARZCLONE" that some people are predicting.

I think there is supposed to be more than what was in RE 4's Merc mode.

I think they'll include Wesker, Bird-mask lady, and HOPEFULLY! Hunk.

I'm excited, can't imagine what exactly what they are up to. How would Versus be different than Slayer? How would a deathmatch even work, both people just stand in the open, whoever gets headshots first wins...

Survival I'm sure will be fun.

I love L4D to death, so if they can bring that kind of tension to the game, I'm all for it.

Will be playing this game through many times, I'm sure.

If this isn't free, my respect for Capcom may be down by quite a stretch.

Fact is if they will charge, they know it will work, because although a lot of people here are now wise to the fact that DLC is diminishing the quality of modern gaming, there are a lot who will not be wise, and after a play through of Resident Evil 5, will say "I wish there were some multiplayer modes". Then with the DLC they'll think it's like a message from the heavens and buy it, not taking into account how much money they've wasted.

For me, personally, I shall be renting the game for now, and if they release the DLC for free, I may end up buying myself a copy, however if they don't, then I guess Capcom shall just have to hope that Resident Evil 5 will have nostalgia values so that I'll eventually end up buying it anyway.

I just had the 1.02 patch forcibly installed when I loaded RE5 (no option to skip). That is what adds the extra trophies. What a load of shit. I just hope you get the Platinum trophy for getting the trophies that it shipped with. If it's truly paid DLC then the trophies should have been added then. Seriously, I had one more freakin trophy (from the original 50) to get and then I was done. Now I have to fuck around online to get the rest?

i'm sure that most of those trophies we're on the list before the update and why not add a few extras to the download like more maps for mercenaries and diffrent maps to the ones we already have in mercenarie mode because it does look like someone just thought i know of an extra way to make a bit of money ? add a section of multiplayer as downloadable content and no one will suspect. they could have also added extra characters to add a bit of variety but hey prehaps that will be like another way to get some more money ?. hey and why not add the shooting gallery mode i liked that you could charge for that as well .

I just verified that as long as you get the original 50 something trophies, you will get the Platinum. I'm not sure if that will be true if you only started the game after the 1.02 update or once the actual DLC content is out. But whatever. I got my Platinum trophy and that's all that matters to me :)

I just bought the RE5 Versus DLC and must say that it was less than 2mb in size. This is obviously a total ripoff and should have been included in the full game. Just another way to pump more money out of us.
