A recent AMD press release brought word of yet another hardware milestone for Nintendo -- earlier today, AMD shipped its 50 millionth "Hollywood" chip, the graphics processor for the Wii. With such a large number of units sold, the "Hollywood" has become AMD's most successful (and likely most profitable) gaming console chip in the company's history.
It's safe to assume by AMD's missive that Nintendo has manufactured around 50 million Wiis -- though their most recent LTD numbers place the console's sales around 45 million. Since Wiis stay on store shelves an average of fourteen seconds, this can mean only one thing: Someone, or something, has stolen five million Wiis. As usual, we blame the Nazis.

I can't argue with the author's logic.

If AMD has shipped 50 million GPU's and Nintendo has sold 45 million Wii's that would probably just mean that the 5 million Wii's are as follows.
1.2 Million are currently on Wal-Mart trucks
Another 1.2 million on Gamestop trucks... or vans.. or whatever they use.
2 million are in production still
Which really only leaves 600,000 for the nazi's
And in compared to their history, they aren't doing to much damage.
I miss my Wii... It broke out of warranty :(

We got at least 10 Wii's in our stockroom, we can't shift them even though they're reduced.. they must of been up there a year, maybe more,..

I saw "AMD" and thought, "This isn't Joystiq for PC hardware...". And then I remembered they own ATI.

Or, y'know, the other 5 million have been used by developers and testers, slotted into system replacements or refurbishings, or have been shipped to Nintendo but haven't yet found their way into a Wii.
But sure, blame Nazis. Those smug jerks need to be taken down a peg...
