Without a doubt, the "Classic Rock"
Rock Band Track Pack is real. The
ESRB clued us into its existence, but a recent listing at
GameStop reveals a price and release date: May 19th for $29.99. A PlayStation Network
Trophy list also reveals additional details on the contents of the Track Pack. If it's anything like the previously released
Rock Band expansion disc, players will be able to enjoy the disc with or without an original copy of
Rock Band or
Rock Band 2. We can expect 20 songs on the disc including:
- "All Right Now" -- Free
- "Can't Stand Losing You" -- The Police
- "Closer to the Heart" -- Rush
- "Holiday in Cambodia" -- Dead Kennedys
- "The Joker" -- Steve Miller Band
- "Peace of Mind" -- Boston
- "Rock and Roll Band" -- Boston
- "Take the Money and Run" -- Steve Miller Band
EA and Harmonix still haven't officially confirmed the Track Pack, but we expect it to will available on all
Rock Band platforms: PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3.

If they did the entire "Blonde on Blonde" album or "Blood on the Tracks" I would buy the entire game in an instant. I like some of the music in the game, but not enough to justify buying it. It is a fun game though, I like playing it at parties.
JAckS @ Mar 11th 2009 11:59PM
Highway 61 Revisited would be great as well.
tyguy92 @ Mar 12th 2009 12:21AM
Yeah, Like a Rolling Stone and Desolation Row are hard bookends to beat.
john paul @ Mar 11th 2009 10:17PM
Whenever there is something about a classic track pack coming to Rock Band, i always rush to see if it is Led Zeppelin, i leave disappointed everytime...
ice~ @ Mar 11th 2009 10:21PM
me too....Some day, maybe if plant sees how successful the Beatles game might be, he'll cave and actually allow his music in a game
Banana Kid @ Mar 11th 2009 10:17PM
Wait, when did All Right Now come out? Did I miss that somehow?
Holy shit I need to go download it.
Psycho300x @ Mar 11th 2009 10:22PM
haha, yeah its been out for a while bro, Great song to have.
Number_Zero @ Mar 11th 2009 10:31PM
When did Dead Kennedies become classic rock? Does this mean Nirvana will be classic rock soon?
Sarth @ Mar 11th 2009 11:46PM
Under the Bridge is labeled Classic Rock now.
Michael Paul @ Mar 12th 2009 9:01AM
I'm also not willing to call EVERY song some band like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd ever made a piece of 'classic rock'. There's a reason you don't hear them often: they sucked. Getting older does not make EVERYTHING classic...
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Mar 12th 2009 12:34PM
WPDH out of Poughkeepsie, NY, is the self provclaimed "Home of Classic Rock n' Roll" and the play Nirvana often.
@ Michael Paul
EVERYTHING that Pink Floyd did was amazing and that Includes the crazy stuff off of Piper at the Gates of Dawn or Ummagumma.
Lars @ Mar 12th 2009 1:20PM
I disagree with you on Led Zep.
But I will agree with Pink Floyd... god, try some other chord progressions once in a while!
I don't get this track pack though... we already have all these songs, right?
Mr Khan @ Mar 11th 2009 10:42PM
They're stretching the definition of classic, i think.
ZaxCG2 @ Mar 11th 2009 11:26PM
Hope it makes it to Wii with support for World Tour instruments.
drew @ Mar 11th 2009 11:45PM
i don't usually do this but....huh?
"but we expect it to will available on all Rock Band platforms: PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3."
we expect it to will available?
Robert Maynard @ Mar 12th 2009 12:22AM
I already have most of these, so looks like this won't be useful to me - but I still love the idea of these track packs for the less DLC-savvy, which are exportable to the hard drive, competing with Guitar Hero standalone titles at retail. I only just found out they've already released another pack before this.
Malascythe @ Mar 12th 2009 12:22AM
nice
Spike @ Mar 12th 2009 12:34AM
exportable to SD card on wii or no buy, i like most of these songs, and already have rock and roll band
MrKlorox @ Mar 12th 2009 1:49AM
And still no real metal.
T @ Mar 12th 2009 9:33AM
Uh...there's LOTS of metal in Rock Band. Unless you're taking the "No True Scottsmen" approach to it.
Also, why would you expect Metal in a Classic Rock pack?
Lars @ Mar 12th 2009 1:22PM
Yeah, I'm with T on this one.
There's TONS of metal in Rock Band... which is kinda sill 'cause it's called, you know, ROCK Band.
MrKlorox @ Mar 13th 2009 6:43PM
You people are walking non-sequiturs.
Oren Naveda @ Mar 12th 2009 3:29AM
Personally, I'm not as big of a fan of Rock Band 2 as I am of Rock Band 1. I guess I just like the original soundtrack on 1 more than the original soundtrack on 2.
Robotochan @ Mar 12th 2009 5:33AM
Seriously, surprised I'm still waiting for Journey - Don't Stop Believin' or Carry on My Wayward son sung by Randy Marsh
Luke @ Mar 12th 2009 6:54AM
Not sure I get the point of the track packs. It made sense for Wii before RB2; like a way of saying, "we know we just gave you a rushed port, so here, buy another game." All platforms but PS2 support RB DLC now...so...why? Are there enough HUGE classic rock fans out there to justify buying an entirely new disc?
The Beatles are a different story, though.
Don Bird @ Mar 12th 2009 8:52AM
I'll pass. A few of these tracks are already on GH3. Not enough rocking goodness for me to drop my coin.
umm....hello??? @ Mar 12th 2009 9:09AM
I think ALL of the songs listed in this post from joystiq are already available or in GH2, GH3, GHWT, or RB1 or RB2. what's with all the recycled songs? or am I just buying them all too early before they can be grouped into track packs?
either way, this is a pass for me too.
T @ Mar 12th 2009 9:35AM
The goal of Track Packs is to offer a song bundle for people who for whatever reason don't have access to the music store...or just don't want to use it (if they don't like microtransactions).
Also, for PS2 owners it's a way to get them some new songs at a fairly reasonable price (buck and a half per song or thereabouts)
Frankly I like them, I was able to get a buddies export code for the 2nd track pack...and hopefully he'll give me his for this one too.
Andrew Ryan @ Mar 12th 2009 10:00AM
That's not really a great list, in terms of classics. & think everyone is right when saying this is best for the guys who can't get DLC, but if there were a track pack disc like this I WOULD get it would have to be tbqh Queen, The Rolling Stones, & The Beatles.
shadow I reaper @ Mar 12th 2009 10:45AM
Everyone has their own music tastes, so I'm just expressing mine, but what is with the classic rock hype! The game is packed with it, DLC is all about it, they have the AC/DC add on, they are making a beatles only game... ENOUGH! There is so much untapped alternative, grunge, hard rock, heavy metal from 1990 - present that hasn't been hit. Who wouldn't rock out Bush's Machinehead?
Scott @ Mar 12th 2009 1:48PM
No one would rock out to Machinehead, because Bush was terrible, is terrible, and always will be terrible. Classic Rock is well suited to the game because the songs are well know, easy to translate to the instruments (not a lot of muddled music), and it is usually family friendly.
shadow I reaper @ Mar 12th 2009 1:57PM
Hence the reason I started my post with "Everyone has their own music tastes, so I'm just expressing mine" I actually know plenty of people who would rock out to old Bush tunes, so try thinking outside of the box. I said that they already do have a good bit of classic rock, so why add more when there is other stuff out there. And as far as "family friendly" goes, my mom (who likes classic rock) has a blast singing Beastie Boys whenever she comes over
killswitch_fan @ Mar 12th 2009 2:50PM
I really wish they would put some def leppard and some van halen in there. Aswell as maybe some more journey.
Tegolin @ Mar 12th 2009 4:17PM
Wow this is the first track pack with DLC I don't have.
Will think about it.
