Capcom not done with HD Remixing
Capcom's talking about HD remixing some more titles following the success of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Capcom VP Christian Svensson tells VideoGamer that not every game needs it, but the company is going to "potentially" apply the formula to other fighting games in the company's catalog. Next time, however, it plans do it "better, based on what [it] learned" -- which we'll take to mean cutting down development time.
When asked if Marvel vs. Capcom 2 would be HD-ified, Svensson commented that it's probably the title fans request the most, but he has no news to share about that. We know retro Mega Man is en vogue, but an HD remix of Mega Man 2 could be interesting.

"3rd Strike HD Remix", please.
hsx5 @ Mar 12th 2009 5:36PM
Yes please!
Kyle @ Mar 12th 2009 10:02PM
I'm not sure that game needs one does it? It still looks pretty fluid today.
Nytemare @ Mar 12th 2009 5:34PM
I think Capcom vs SNK would be awesome in HD.
SoulBlade @ Mar 12th 2009 5:39PM
Seconded
Freeze @ Mar 12th 2009 5:37PM

So what the heck is the problem? The 2 most wanted is 3rd Strike and MvC2. Can't these PR people here see where money can be had? Another one is Power Stone but man, can't see that either.
ice~ @ Mar 12th 2009 5:40PM
MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...MvC2...HD REMIX! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE
RiverOtter @ Mar 12th 2009 5:51PM
Every character should be replaced with Mango Sentinel.
SoulBlade @ Mar 12th 2009 5:40PM
Mega Man 10 (not X) with retro gameplay and HD gfx? please?
Dr. Stabbingworth @ Mar 13th 2009 2:07PM
I second that. MM9 was the most fun I've had with a video game in a long time.
jason @ Mar 12th 2009 5:44PM
as long as it's not like the puzzle fighter "hd remix." don't get me wrong, most of it looked pretty good, but the fact that the chars weren't upgraded to a new resolution sucked, they were like a hazy overly pixelated version of their former selves, hurt my soul to see super deformed fuzziness like that.
Roncore @ Mar 12th 2009 5:45PM
Everyone wants: MvC2
Capcom gives us: X-men: Children of the Atom.
hell, i'd probably be happy with any of the VS. games being done in HD. And probably SFA3 as well!
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 12th 2009 5:45PM
I would love to see all those Disney NES games developed by Capcom in HD.
Nadril @ Mar 12th 2009 5:45PM
Man I hope it's an MvC2HD remake. Would buy it in a heartbeat.
DangerMouse @ Mar 12th 2009 5:46PM
I'd love to see something done with final fight. It would probably involve a whole game redo and more levels added, but it form into something awesome with co-op in mind.
Brucie_K @ Mar 12th 2009 5:53PM
Hey, you beat me to it by a minute! I wholeheartedly agree with you, though.
Brucie_K @ Mar 12th 2009 5:47PM
I'd like to see an HD remix of ''Final Fight 3''.
ShadowXOR @ Mar 12th 2009 6:05PM
Darkstalkers/Night Warriors/Vampire Savior/Vampire Hunter PLEASE!!!
Odog4ever @ Mar 12th 2009 6:29PM
Yes! Darkstalkers please.
Baby J Penn (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Mar 12th 2009 7:15PM
Power Stone!
Sturat @ Mar 12th 2009 6:13PM
If they've learned from their mistakes, hopefully they won't outsource it to Backbone, they won't give all of the characters ugly faces, won't use amateur music, and won't use ridiculous voices. Unfortunately, it seems there's more demand for retro remakes outside of Japan than in Japan, so the odds of Capcom doing a quality in-house remake seem pretty slim. If they're going to outsource games, they should use a high-quality developer like Konami has used for the last few Gradius games. I bet Dimps or 8ing would do a decent job. ...Or Good-feel would be great!
Luis @ Mar 12th 2009 6:23PM
Powerstone!!!!
BlaqueBeird @ Mar 13th 2009 1:34PM
I fully endorse that.
Batzarro @ Mar 12th 2009 6:33PM
Marvel vs Capcom 2 would be a f-load of work if they do it like SSF2THDR. If not...they might as well not make it an HD resolution game.
OTAM @ Mar 12th 2009 6:37PM
Maybe Capcom should work a new IP possibly?
Who am I kidding, they plan on re-hashing out these fighting games until the end of time.
Lee @ Mar 12th 2009 7:02PM
And older RE titles. Don't forget the older RE titles.
Princess Hwang @ Mar 12th 2009 6:41PM
No more remixes or rehashes! Why does everyone enjoy playing the same thing over and over again but just with better visuals? Why? Don't you guys want to enjoy something that's new and fresh? So Capcom can just walk in, pretty something up alittle bit, an you'll buy it (well not me)? Shallow gamer generation confirmed?
How about giving us something new and original in high definition instead, Capcom? I'm sick an tired of this shit.
RiverOtter @ Mar 12th 2009 8:10PM
It has little to do with HD-ifying the games, imo. Most of these 2D fighters already have a reasonably sized fanbase despite their age. The two biggest benefits, at least to the competitive community (AKA, the fans of the game) are:
1. Possible rebalancing of characters to allow for a better game (If this occurs, it completely changes the way the game is played on a competitive level regardless of appearances)
2. Enlarging the fanbase so that there's more competition.
HD-ifying the graphics and simply the fact that it exists on a newer console (particularly because of Xbox Live/PSN/whatever) makes it much, much easier to bring new players in. Speaking of PSN/XBL; being able to play online, instantly and with a huge opponent base, as opposed to driving 1-5 hours (depending on your area) to play a few people is reason alone to buy a new version of an old game. Granted, a lot of elitists refuse to or dislike the idea of playing online, and reasonably so. Regardless, it increases interest in the game and it's community.
RiverOtter @ Mar 12th 2009 8:18PM
Er, that is to say that HD isn't the only purpose of the remix, not that it serves little purpose.
Princess Hwang @ Mar 12th 2009 8:52PM
-RiverOtter
I got voted down? I'm not fucking surprised. Anyway, RiverOtter, it's still the same game all over again. You can change it all you want, but it's still THE SAME GAME.
SpydaKat 17 @ Mar 13th 2009 12:23AM
I'm not sure if you understand...you do know that this is Marvel vs Capcom we're talking about here right?
BlaqueBeird @ Mar 13th 2009 1:37PM
Nostalgia, man. That's why I want these done. And so I can show my kids the awesome games I used to play.
KingHippp0 @ Mar 12th 2009 6:45PM
Mega Man II HD Remix?
My pants... MY PANTS!
AwesomeTown @ Mar 12th 2009 8:25PM
For some reason, I would prefer the X games remade HD style before the originals. Don't know why, just personal preference.
WLT @ Mar 12th 2009 6:58PM
An HD Remix of Marvel VS Capcom 2 would be great, but I'd rather just a Marvel VS Capcom 3. X-23 VS JoJo!
BlaqueBeird @ Mar 13th 2009 1:44PM
I really hated X-23. In the marvel universe, that is. I always thought the foot-claw was ridiculous.
joshua @ Mar 12th 2009 7:10PM
man how cool would it be so see MK2 in HD or all of MK games. ohh the blood!! .. my favorite would be Kung Lao body cut in half fatality in MK2.
Martin @ Mar 12th 2009 8:11PM
Mortal Kombat in HD is called real life. You heathen.
Baby J Penn (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Mar 12th 2009 7:15PM
I would prefer Powerstone 2 to Marvel vs Capcom 2.
Shady3011 @ Mar 12th 2009 7:38PM
If they're going to HD remix a Mega Man game, it might as well be the X series. Specifically, Mega Man X. It definitely lends itself well to that sort of thing.
Martin @ Mar 12th 2009 8:12PM
I would prefer SFA3 above the others, but that's mainly because I never got into MvC2. I was a huge X-Men v Street Fighter fan though, so that'd be cool. But I play that on MAME and it's just fine.
Tim @ Mar 12th 2009 8:29PM
This would be a very good chance for Capcom to introduce us to other Japan-only IPs like Cyberbots (where Jin Saotome and Devilotte came from), Red Earth (arcade-only game, where Tessa came from), and Quiz Nanairo Dreams (where Saki came from).
Mikea @ Mar 12th 2009 8:33PM
I don't know why game companies keep remaking games just to have them HD'd, please make new ones, and then yes, on HD.
tmmoore_nc @ Mar 12th 2009 8:36PM
I'm calling it right now: Mega Man Soccer HD Remix
dphizzle @ Mar 12th 2009 9:41PM
LOL. how amazing that would be
Josh @ Mar 12th 2009 9:13PM
HD Strider. Please, thank you.
acefondu @ Mar 12th 2009 9:15PM
Go Go Gadget Capcom!
dphizzle @ Mar 12th 2009 9:40PM
mvsc2 was my fave... but i also believe in re balancing. IF they release it and people start playing ranked matches they're gonna realize the tragedy that is competition level play ... aka whos' better at using sentinel/storm/magneto
Kyle @ Mar 12th 2009 10:08PM
Great news. If companies are gonna keep rehashing their old games then I'd much prefer they take this route.
Crusty Magic @ Mar 12th 2009 10:26PM
Hell, they should HD Remix a ton of games...
Alpha 3, Third Strike, MvC and CvS would be awesome.
