Capcom's talking about HD remixing some more titles following the success of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Capcom VP Christian Svensson tells VideoGamer that not every game needs it, but the company is going to "potentially" apply the formula to other fighting games in the company's catalog. Next time, however, it plans do it "better, based on what [it] learned" -- which we'll take to mean cutting down development time.
When asked if Marvel vs. Capcom 2 would be HD-ified, Svensson commented that it's probably the title fans request the most, but he has no news to share about that. We know retro Mega Man is en vogue, but an HD remix of Mega Man 2 could be interesting.

I'm not sure that game needs one does it? It still looks pretty fluid today.

So what the heck is the problem? The 2 most wanted is 3rd Strike and MvC2. Can't these PR people here see where money can be had? Another one is Power Stone but man, can't see that either.

Every character should be replaced with Mango Sentinel.

I second that. MM9 was the most fun I've had with a video game in a long time.

as long as it's not like the puzzle fighter "hd remix." don't get me wrong, most of it looked pretty good, but the fact that the chars weren't upgraded to a new resolution sucked, they were like a hazy overly pixelated version of their former selves, hurt my soul to see super deformed fuzziness like that.

I would love to see all those Disney NES games developed by Capcom in HD.

I'd love to see something done with final fight. It would probably involve a whole game redo and more levels added, but it form into something awesome with co-op in mind.

If they've learned from their mistakes, hopefully they won't outsource it to Backbone, they won't give all of the characters ugly faces, won't use amateur music, and won't use ridiculous voices. Unfortunately, it seems there's more demand for retro remakes outside of Japan than in Japan, so the odds of Capcom doing a quality in-house remake seem pretty slim. If they're going to outsource games, they should use a high-quality developer like Konami has used for the last few Gradius games. I bet Dimps or 8ing would do a decent job. ...Or Good-feel would be great!

Marvel vs Capcom 2 would be a f-load of work if they do it like SSF2THDR. If not...they might as well not make it an HD resolution game.

Maybe Capcom should work a new IP possibly?
Who am I kidding, they plan on re-hashing out these fighting games until the end of time.

No more remixes or rehashes! Why does everyone enjoy playing the same thing over and over again but just with better visuals? Why? Don't you guys want to enjoy something that's new and fresh? So Capcom can just walk in, pretty something up alittle bit, an you'll buy it (well not me)? Shallow gamer generation confirmed?
How about giving us something new and original in high definition instead, Capcom? I'm sick an tired of this shit.

It has little to do with HD-ifying the games, imo. Most of these 2D fighters already have a reasonably sized fanbase despite their age. The two biggest benefits, at least to the competitive community (AKA, the fans of the game) are:
1. Possible rebalancing of characters to allow for a better game (If this occurs, it completely changes the way the game is played on a competitive level regardless of appearances)
2. Enlarging the fanbase so that there's more competition.
HD-ifying the graphics and simply the fact that it exists on a newer console (particularly because of Xbox Live/PSN/whatever) makes it much, much easier to bring new players in. Speaking of PSN/XBL; being able to play online, instantly and with a huge opponent base, as opposed to driving 1-5 hours (depending on your area) to play a few people is reason alone to buy a new version of an old game. Granted, a lot of elitists refuse to or dislike the idea of playing online, and reasonably so. Regardless, it increases interest in the game and it's community.

Er, that is to say that HD isn't the only purpose of the remix, not that it serves little purpose.

I got voted down? I'm not fucking surprised. Anyway, RiverOtter, it's still the same game all over again. You can change it all you want, but it's still THE SAME GAME.

For some reason, I would prefer the X games remade HD style before the originals. Don't know why, just personal preference.

An HD Remix of Marvel VS Capcom 2 would be great, but I'd rather just a Marvel VS Capcom 3. X-23 VS JoJo!

I really hated X-23. In the marvel universe, that is. I always thought the foot-claw was ridiculous.

This would be a very good chance for Capcom to introduce us to other Japan-only IPs like Cyberbots (where Jin Saotome and Devilotte came from), Red Earth (arcade-only game, where Tessa came from), and Quiz Nanairo Dreams (where Saki came from).

I don't know why game companies keep remaking games just to have them HD'd, please make new ones, and then yes, on HD.

Great news. If companies are gonna keep rehashing their old games then I'd much prefer they take this route.
