Famitsu has some of the first images of the Valkyria Chronicles anime, releasing sometime this year in Japan. Sega's official Valkyria Twitter states that it currently has no word about a western version at this time.
For those who completely missed out on playing Valkyria Chronicles during the epic retail battle of the last holiday season -- and judging by the sales numbers, it was a lot of you -- we found it to be a tragically overlooked SRPG gem. Hopefully, significant DLC, or the announcement of a sequel, will gain the title some of the attention it missed out when Sega dropped it in the middle of the holiday wallet melee.

In other news, cool. I myself am one of those who missed it.

I think it'd be great if they brought it to the Playstation Store.
That way it will get even more attention. Its a great game. Sad thing I guess.

the game is great. I havent finished it just yet. I love the game play and the look of the game. The only thing i hate is that it can take up to a hour to play a level only to die and have to start all over again. No save points within the maps.

you can save at any time within a battle in the system menu

I absolutely adored this game and enjoyed every moment of it.
I think this will be the first Anime that I will actually try and import, if it doesn't get a western date.

I'm surprised the anime doesn't have the same art style as the game, not the sketch look, but the look of their faces and crap.

It looks absolutely beautiful. Hopefully we at least get a subtitled version of this in North America.
Would anyone else love Valkyria Chronicles to get a trophy patch as much as I would?

If "western version" just means they are gonna dub it, then no big deal IMO. More often than not, dubs are not very good. I'm happy with just a nice fansubbed version.

but they'd be voiced by the same actors that were in the game.

And picking up the western version will be...
4kids.
Just making a joke. I hope that doesn't happen...
It's better for it not to come to the west if it's dubbed and slaughtered by 4kids.

If no one bought it, why is it sold out everywhere?
What really happened, IMHO, is that Sega choked and reduced their print run and advertising so as to minimize their losses.
Since then, the game has become something of a sleeper hit, and is now sold out just about everywhere, and prices are starting to climb on eBay.
Hopefully it will be re-released as a Greatest Hits title soon so that Sega can make some more money on it, and do a sequel, or even an unrelated game with the same basic mechanism.

The anime starts in April, almost one year after the game's Japanese release.

I loved Valkyria Chronicles, it is my favorite strategy game and one of my favorite all time on the PS3. I really wish Sony had given the game the support it deserved. The critics loved it, but nobody knew about the game. Still, I'm glad to see that it's getting some of the love it has so richly earned.

My favorite ps3 exclusive of last year. Too few games have style and substance.
An anime show should be easy. All they have to do is edit together the ton of cutscenes; my only complaint about the game was that it didn't need multiple cutscenes between every battle.
I'm sure the anime will be new but I do hope that they at least keep that cool color-pencil look the game had.

This sounds really cool. I never got the chance to play the full version of Valkyria Chronicles so i can experience the story with the anime. I hope its around 26 episodes long and if it comes western i hope it is dubbed by Viz or Funimation.
