Resident Evil 5 'Versus' DLC confirmed [update]

Yay for paying for things that should've been in the retail release!!!

I have to agree with people who don't want to pay for this so-called extra content. I really want to know how the industry defines $60 worth of game. As a consumer, I want some way of quantifying how much game I get for that amount of money. Particualry with so much DLC out there. How many single player levels, hours of play, or multi-player options constitue a completed game. Until we know or demand a standard or somewhow quantify it, it seems like they can really manipulate the consumer.

5 dollars for this is just insane. Being a former PC gamer, charging
this much for DLC is out of control. If you did a pros vs. cons of PC
expansion packs vs. 360 DLC, you'd see we are getting tremendously
overcharged. You'll pay $20-$30 for an expansion pack which includes
updated graphics, a new single player campaign (or multiple in some
cases), new multiplayer levels, new guns/units/armies, and new
multiplayer modes. True its one big package and it generally doesn't
come out for say 10-14 months after the original game, but its a lot
of content. DLC comes in short bursts and is released in closer
proximity to a game's release than PC expansion packs, but the value
is significantly less. You'll be lucky to get 3-4 maps and some MP
character skins without spending $15-$20. Hopefully all next-gen
consoles will have hard drives mandatory so expansion packs can make
a triumphant return.

BTW, if grenades aren't mandatory in every Vs. match, camping will be
a HUGE issue. Think about it, player 1 waits behind a wall with no
windows and the only way to get through is the door. So player 2 runs
through the door, but player 1 has just been sitting there with
his/her shotgun in aim mode the whole time. Your going to have at
least a 2 second jump on the person before he/she stops moving, gets
his/her gun in aim mode, lines up the reticule on the enemy, and
begins firing. However, before you even get to line up the enemy, you
ate 2 shotgun shells and your dead, rinse and repeat.

The only way I MIGHT pay for this at some point is if they patch in
strafing and aiming in the Vs. Modes OR they make it free (which
maybe with enough public outcry they'll make it free).

Sigh... I knew they would charge for it, just like someone said, they are going the same route as Street Fighter IV, charging for stuff that is already in the disc. Oh, I heard they might add other characters to Mercenaries via DLC(I think Hunk), so maybe they'll also have a price -_-;

Every big game that comes out has at least one $5 dollar add on instantly. I just don't get it. They are already 60 bucks.

There was a leaked video a while ago on Gametrailers.com that showed the fight between Wesker, Jill, Sheva, and the main character. It was uploaded by a user and called 'Jill's fate' or something like that.

Yes, Jill's in the game and she has the same powers as Wesker.

I'm not even going to buy the game. The controls aren't anywhere near as good as Dead Space, and I'm sick of Capcom's DLC strategy. This mode is probably already on the disc, and you have to give them your five dollars to unlock the VS. mode. Fuck them.

that is such a ripoff. to the point that since i was on the fence on buying it makes me want to AVOID it. boycott does work bcuz it makes the "other leaches" take notice & not try to pull of the same stunt. trend are easy to start & boycotting is especially neccesary when we are talking about money. the mssg would be since you tried to rip us off for 5 bucks you now stand to lose 60 bucks.

i feel bad for loyalists that will let a company slap em around... If you don't want to hear the opinions of others then why the heck would you go to a BLOG space?? if you are just a loyal fan then just go to the company's website but be aware some gamers may also post their opinions and praises & complains there too. POINT BLANK: enjoy the info & comments the community is proving as you are reading it & even taking part of with your very own complaint.

You all would do the same thing if you made hundreds of thousands dollars a year. Any RE5 will probably be the best game of the year. So Far it is.

Eh, id buy it. just because i got.... $$$ XD haha i kid. but i probably will buy it just to see how it works out. im not goin for the stop action shooting.

come on guys they cant have planned this, i mean just because its listed in the resident evil 5 official guide, with all strategies, how much exchange points each characters costs and the different stages, which are just the same stages as mercs mode and what the boss enemys drop, also all the screen shots and stuff, what part of all that makes you think that they planned not to have it included in the game.....

They're the ones that made up some exclusivity deal with Nintendo for the GameCube then all the games that were successful, they ported over to the PS2 usually featuring something new like "PLAY AS DANTE FROM DEVIL MAY CRY!!!!!"
