Yo, check out new G.I. Joe screens
G.I. Joe fights for freedom wherever there's trouble -- and, evidently, there's some to be found in the sparsely populated settings of EA's upcoming movie tie-in game. Snake Eyes features prominently in this first batch of screens from G.I. Joe: The Game, most likely because, as in the movie's trailer, he's the one character that actually looks remotely like he's from ... G.I. Joe (and not someone who raided the X-Men films' wardrobe storage).Looking at these screens is only half the battle. The other half is reading our first impressions of the game in action. Your reward for victory: a trip back in time with Konami's equally deep 1992 arcade game.

Boo
Markez @ Mar 12th 2009 5:16PM
We don't do that here. I'll be polite.
These screenshots actually look good to me, looks appropriate and reminds me of the ol' toys I had as a youngan. Kinda look like some good ol' pew pew action figure scenes.
Of course, what I'd really prefer is just a facelift on the NES version, man I loved that game.
Obie @ Mar 12th 2009 5:16PM
We don't do that here ,kid.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 12th 2009 5:18PM
You fail, the first reply to G.I Joe article should always be GO JOE!
BxGT @ Mar 12th 2009 5:24PM
And now you know because knowledge is power.
The Dark Wayne @ Mar 12th 2009 5:56PM

Coincidence?
Markez @ Mar 12th 2009 5:24PM
It's an awkward coincidence I don't understand at all, is that good for anything?
LaughingTarget @ Mar 12th 2009 5:48PM
Dude, Marlon Wayans is going to be a rum swilling Captain Morgan in a skin tight suit. That right there makes the movie Oscar material.
The Dark Wayne @ Mar 12th 2009 5:58PM
please tell me he isn't roadblock! He can't be roadblock!
LaughingTarget @ Mar 12th 2009 7:16PM
Nah, he's Ripcord.
Obie @ Mar 12th 2009 5:16PM
COBRA RETREAT!!! ( from this game and sucky movie)
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 12th 2009 5:24PM
The movie looks like a pile of horse crap but damn it is decent if you compare it to the new Star Trek movie.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 12th 2009 5:22PM

rohan @ Mar 12th 2009 5:26PM
COBRA!
Douche Bigalow @ Mar 12th 2009 5:27PM
You do know that GI Joe is no longer a 'real American hero', right? The America-haters in Hollywood can't stand that, so they made it a force unit under 'international command'. Which is just as dumb as making Superman stop fighting for the 'American way' in Superman Returns (but that was a generally offensive metrosexualization of the character so there's more to complain about).
Markez @ Mar 12th 2009 5:31PM
Hey tampon (can't really call you douche, can I?) try and keep your politics out of a thread for once, eh tampon?
Altho this comment of yours gave me chuckles:
"Liking Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey is like a signpost for being an unfunny, smug, liberal douchebag. Kind of like those 'HOPE' bumper stickers."
Just for the most part you sound like a tampon with a chip on your shoulder.
GI Joe would not approve.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 12th 2009 5:38PM
Speaking of which:
Ok making Superman an amercian hero is wrong but making him a son of a b*tch that left Louis Lane alone with a kid is okay? Superman reruns sucked balls.
What's up with the lack of morals in movies these days? And hell is a recurring theme it seems every movie nowadays wants to be a clon of sin city either that or another idiotic teenage movie.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 12th 2009 5:42PM
Let me clear things up:
In Sin city it worked because it supposed to be like that but it also shows there are good people like the cop that saved the girl.So is a really good contrast between good and evil but in moves like superman returns it has no place.
Seriusly you can't make a hero of someone who abandoned his kids.
Sin city was awesome.
The Dark Wayne @ Mar 12th 2009 6:00PM
GI Joe fucking loves Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey. Although I do agree that GI JOE should have stayed an American hero, it's not because of politics there's two reasons. One is it's just so much of the GI Joe stuff is just overly patriotic silliness, and the second is that GI is a term only the US military uses
t_m @ Mar 13th 2009 3:17AM
and third its exactly the kind of Team America crap that the rest of the world hates anyway... they should have kept him as american because no-one else cares.
Then we could have enjoyed it by laughing at it.
I notice the bad guy seems to be british again? yay!
The Dark Wayne @ Mar 13th 2009 9:38AM
well, Destro actually was scottish originally, so they're closer with him than they are with everyone else
Obie @ Mar 12th 2009 5:24PM

This alone is more awesome than any of the two combined.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Mar 12th 2009 5:29PM
COOOBRAAA!!!!!
And this what adults call awesome kids. That intro alone has more action than a whole season of Naruto.
Shmil @ Mar 12th 2009 5:46PM
That was the most badass thing I've seen in a while.
Markez @ Mar 12th 2009 5:50PM
I love how the logo actually blasts off :)
AMERICA!!!
The Dark Wayne @ Mar 12th 2009 6:03PM
Yeah! Nothing more American than lasers, jetpacks and terrorist punching
Dave @ Mar 12th 2009 5:36PM
Gee, I've been saved by Fox. How swell
Duke @ Mar 12th 2009 5:43PM
I see nothing in those screens to be excited for. They look bland and uninteresting.
Tiptup300 @ Mar 13th 2009 5:15AM
I personally think this looks like a very impressive new game, can't wait to get it on my DS.
spambot @ Mar 12th 2009 6:05PM
I'm just happy to see them shooting red and blue lasers.
Dirty @ Mar 12th 2009 7:34PM
How else are supposed to know who the bad guys and good guys are. Thanks again George Lucas.
nikescar @ Mar 12th 2009 6:56PM
This game doesn't even have enough graphical glitz to to be in the top 20% of Xbox Community Games.
sinai @ Mar 12th 2009 7:07PM
STOP BUYING CRAPPY MOVIE TIE IN GAMES AND THEY WILL STOP MAKING THEM!
Markez @ Mar 12th 2009 7:22PM
No they won't, they sell well, what're you talking about?
DeoWulf @ Mar 12th 2009 8:46PM
Markez-- You missed the point of his comment. They don't sell well if you don't buy them. Movie tie-ins are not immune from laws of demand.
Shmil @ Mar 12th 2009 9:35PM
You're preaching to the wrong crowd man. We know they suck and we know why they suck. But there are so many casual players out there who just don't give a crap, they enjoy the games more because they are tied in.
WLT @ Mar 12th 2009 7:11PM
I dont know what's going to suck more, the game or the movie
rowdyone @ Mar 12th 2009 8:32PM
What, a snow level, but no Snow Job?!
"DON'T GIVE 'IM THE STICK!
OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH"!
DeoWulf @ Mar 12th 2009 8:47PM
He is aiming a pistol at a flying ship. And his other weapon is a sword.
I fail to see how he is equipped to survive this battle.
rowdyone @ Mar 12th 2009 9:14PM
He's goddamn Snake Eyes, that's how!
DeoWulf @ Mar 12th 2009 9:17PM
Never got into GI Joe, but I suppose I should have expected something to that extent.
j.howlett @ Mar 12th 2009 10:32PM
if snake eyes is kicking ass i'm down for whatever
Snatcher (MDF - Halo Ring) @ Mar 13th 2009 2:00AM
GI JOE kicked butt because it had the best toys and Sgt Slaughter would tell you to stay tuned. And 2 ninjas: SnakeEyes and StormShadow. Gotta love that. Everyone loves a Ninja. Except for the families of the victims of Ninja attacks. They're not pleased.
Matt Roberts @ Mar 18th 2009 4:06PM
Dang; the old recap of the Joe arcade game I did way back in college for Yojoe.com got linked to on Joystiq. I guess I should be honored. I just checked out that game in MAME the other week with the new computer I just built. Hasn't aged quite as well as the Capcom one.
