Rock Band Weekly: A lot of funk n' rock

Get up, get on up, as next week's Rock Band DLC brings some funkified freak and alternative rock. The funk pack includes the legendary performer James Brown and is labeled "01," which we'll take as some small sign that more funk is on the way. There's also several individual tracks from modern bands.

"Shining Star" - Earth Wind & Fire (160 / $2)
"Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine - Pt 1" - James Brown (160 / $2)

"All the Things That Go to Make Heaven and Earth" - The New Pornographers (160 / $2)

All tracks are masters and will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.

Neko Case. You should check out her excellent solo album Fox Confessor Brings the Flood. If you like folksy music. And yes, she is insanely hot.

Pretty sure that's Neko Case, who is with The New Pornographers and who had a solo track come out with the Alt Country pack.

Neko Case is really good. I got tired of her after a while, but will still admit to her talent.

Her latest album, "Middle Cyclone", just debuted at #3 on the Billboard album chart.

I am pretty sure this line up is as bad as something Guitar Hero would release for DLC. Put some more radiohead already. would you.

I agree with you about Radiohead, but the funk pack is good stuff too.

Not only do they throw in some Papa Roach for people to not buy, they add a song where half of the lyrics are censored out. But maybe it's for the better, since those lyrics were emo before emo was even around.

Are there no lyrics for Pick Up the Pieces? That would ebt he second song to not include lyrics correct? YYZ is the only other one I can think of.

Stevie Ray Vaughn has a couple instrumentals.

I think there is a vocal track, lots of tambourine and chanting "pick up the pieces". Pretty boring for the singer I'd suspect, but a great song!!!

Nah, they sing "Pick up the pieces" a few times. This will be a crappy song for a vocalist, but awesome for everyone else.

I agree entirely. Ever since Electric Version was put into Rock Band 1 I have been waiting for more Canadian indie content and these two make me very, very happy.

Need some slight help,

A few years ago I got confusing word that a member if Papa Roach had died. doing some research I think that information was mislead and actually related to Slipknot.

What I'm wondering is I guess the history. In High School Last Resort was one of those songs everyone knew. The Singer in that video though looks a lot different then the one in their latest video. Is it the same singer? I believe some orignal members have left but I have no idea who or why.

Last resort for me, maybe a little something else? We'll see.

That funk pack is going to be awesome. I'm so happy to see Harmonix branching out beyond all the hard-rock stuff.

There's alot of funk-bass music out there just waiting to be made into RB DLC...this's going to be good. =D

I think Sex Machine will be the least/most fun to play song at the same time. The guitar part seems really simple and repetitive, but it's such an awesome song, who cares!

This isn't funk, it's shit. Funk Brothers or bust.
