Poor reviews won't stop the episodic Watchmen game. The End is Nigh: Part II has been rated by the ESRB, and it looks as though the next installment won't stray far from the first. For those that have played the first episode, that's not a good thing.
According to the ratings board, Rorschach and Nite Owl return in the second episode, dashing our hopes of playing as other characters in the Watchmen universe. Once again, Rorschach and Nite Owl will take advantage of rudimentary brawling skills to take down "bikers, gang members, and thugs." The setting of the second episode seems a bit raunchier than the first, with players tracking down "a villain who has molested an actress appearing in a pornography film." Players will then have to enter a strip club that contains caged dancers, peep-show booths and porno playing in the background. Hot stuff?
We're hoping that, in spite of the ESRB rating, the next episode of Watchmen takes its time to come out. Who knows? With a bit more development time, the developers might be able to churn out a more solid product. If not, can they at least drop the price?

STARE AT MY BLUE PENIS!!
Lol,you know I didn't noticed that until some guy in the back row pointed that out,I was like "what is he talking ab...Argh Loldongs!"
I didn't liked the movie to redundant in fact for the time the movie spends talking about the decadency of society it never mentions why humanity is worth saving and they had all the time in the world I mean it was like 20 minutes of penis jokes.
Many scenes repeat.
The best parts are the intro, the jail fight (not a very memorable scene BTW) and every scene in which Rorschach appears. Hell the movie would have been better with just Rorschach.
About the novel is pretty much like the movie but to be honest even when I was into comics I never heard or them. I also realized that Y the last man kind of sucks.

No he does not mean that. At least, he shouldn't. The book is singular in form, it cannot be match by any adaptation. It follows the plot okay, but misses the point -- a deconstruction of the superhero genre.

Nop,until now I payed attention to Watchmen.I remember seeing it one time I walked into the store it was in a corner with the rest of obscure novels and NSFW Barbarian comics.
It is not a Barbarian comic until a Dragon/Troll/orc strips a woman. Lulz guaranteed every time.

So he was voted down because he liked the movie? Hell I love the GN, but I thought the movie was pretty damn good. It had it's flaws, but it was still entertaining. So far I've seen it twice.

The movie was quite entertaining, a visual treat, with some legitimately awesome parts that make you go "wow".
Just don't freaking compare it to the book.

No actually I didn't see the blue penis until someone pointed it out then I tried to just focus on the face of the actors every time Jon was on screen. I don't know if he was wearing pants or not but I didn't want to know.
Also with penis jokes I mean jokes like when Nite owl can’t get an erection or the flamethrower scene.
But that’s not “why” the “why” of why I didn’t liked this movie was because all these scenes were pointless because they repeat something that was left clear and the story itself is short. So watching the relationship problems of each “Hero” is quite boring, in fact there isn’t a lot of action either.
Don’t get me wrong I love a good story and back stories are perfect to give dept to the characters but in here is more like this “the mailman is mailman who is mailman because he works as a mailman making him a mailman”, that isn’t deep, it is repetition.
Another thing but maybe I’m just picky is that for someone who masters the arts of the blue screen the effects in the action sequences looks bad. Like in the fire scene when Silk specter jumps into the nite-craft(?)

if the add new combos and animations ill still get it. I didn't see why the first part got so much negative flak, i guess it was the 20 dollar pricetag but I liked it well enough

It got so much flak because it was an uninspired beat em up that got repetitive after the first 15 minutes and didn't change even the slightest over the course of the game. It deserves to be ripped apart in reviews too. You're playing as Rorschach and Nite Owl II, both incredible detectives, not 2 roided up fighters with a chip on their shoulder.
If you want to play mindless beat em ups, that's fine, but there are a ton on the market and the End is Nigh is on the bottom of that pile.

I don't think development time was the problem with the first one. It was a boring, uninspired game. Polish is what it didn't lack.

Well from the description it's about Rorschach and Night Owl trying to hunt down the comedian after finding out he had raped Silk Spectre like 20 years ago, odd.

You know one would think the comedian would do time just for that.In fact it never explains why the comedian never was put into arrest. What is implicit cops and fellow team mates were to scared of him or he was too strong?
He killed civilans, yes hippies are hippies but they still have rights.

@Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC.,
The Comedian did dirty work for the US government, black ops stuff... which is why he never really hung up his cape after the Keene act. They made this clear in both the comic and the movie... did you think in the scenes he was torching Vietnam he was just there on summer holiday?

I'm really starting to think that you weren't paying attention to neither the comic nor the movie. It specifically says in both the film and comic that The Comedian( as well as Dr. Manhattan) were exempt from the Keene act thanks to their participation in Vietnam.

Pretty much. It's a movie that attempts to take the main points of the movie and turn it into a 2 and a half hour film. Of course it's not going to have the same effect the comic did, but by itself the movie is a good film and probably the best adaptation anyone could have made. I was pretty impressed by how much Snyder was able to get in the film.

I bought the first Watchen The End Is Nigh episode and I kind if liked it. Truthfully, I didn't know much of anything about the series before I saw the movie but I did enjoy the game. Sure, the first episode was a little repetitive but it was damn fun and I've always been a fan of brawlers. Most of the trophies are damn hard to acquire and the gameplay is very simple. However, it has a high level of polish and is just plain good classic brawler fun. I wish it included online multiplayer so you could play through with a buddy but I'll probably buy the next two episodes anyway. If you think about it if they have 3 episodes at $20 a piece (the price of a full game) assuming the length is similar its pretty much the same thing as buying a full retail game. You get maybe 8-10 hours total so it's not that bad of a value if you like Brawlers and The Watchmen. I'd recommend it to someone if they liked either or both.

You do acquire different combos and moves as you progress through the episode. There is also a lock picking mini game for rorschach that breaks up the brawling. If you like brawlers and/or the watchmen it's worth the $20 in my opinion. There isn't much to it other than beating up thugs.

The game wasn't bad at all in my book. I played through with my Son and we both really enjoyed and surprisingly it didn't get old for us. Now I agree it could have really used some polish in areas like the WTF lock mini-game when we could either break open the lock/gate or simply climb/repel over it, etc.
I do agree that I think the price was a bit too much but it's probably about the same I spent for me and my Son to go to the movie and we got more entertainment time out of the game vs the movie.
Simply a fun game IMO.

I like the first one just fine. The price was a little steep, but I had a friend over and we split it 50-50 and got several hours of solid, fun, co-op play; a rarity in games today. He had to leave so we didn't finish, but I think that the game deserved a much higher rating than it got.
I only wish there were more local co-op games on the PS3.
