Amazon has full Guitar Hero World Tour kit for $120 today
Yeah, yeah, it's a little late in the day to be mentioning Amazon's Deal of the Day, but the online retailer is currently vending the full Guitar Hero World Tour bundle on current-gen consoles for $120 -- that's $70 off. The pack includes the game, mic, guitar and drums.
If you were considering picking up the GHWT drums as a standalone package, this might actually be a solid alternative deal, as the drums alone retail for $100 (with free shipping and likely tax free). If you have any questions about the game's peripherals working with your other rhythm titles, be sure to check out our Instrument Compatibility Matrix.

I was about to make the point that Americans get games ridiculously cheap until I remembered that the pound has now fallen so low that our normal prices probably aren't far off the USA's ultra-bargains.
Nick @ Mar 16th 2009 7:52PM
The pound is falling, the USD is down to the Canadian Dollar, and the Yen and Yuan are failing, too.
What a great world we live in.
Doug @ Mar 16th 2009 8:38PM
If everyone is falling, then everyone is EVEN!!! YAY

advil @ Mar 16th 2009 10:22PM
@Nick
Actually, it's more like only .78 cents American for 1 Canadian Dollar currently . About 6 months ago it was more like par, so you're just wrong and cynical...
Archon @ Mar 16th 2009 7:40PM
Anyone interested? Anyone? *crickets*
Roto13 @ Mar 16th 2009 7:58PM
... Are you seriously going to pretend that people don't play Guitar Hero?
Archon @ Mar 16th 2009 8:02PM
I pretend that people smart enough to read gaming blogs like this are smart enough not to.
xcrunk @ Mar 16th 2009 8:53PM
It's official, instrument games have jumped the shark.
My guess would be the $2 a whack for songs. Too expensive. People get sick of being bilked and milked for every little dime.
So now their trying to dump their junk that literally clogs retail isles. Seriously folks, if you hold out just a tad longer, you're going to see that crap drop even more as retailers become leery of big boxes, taking up tons of space, that aren't really moving.
Archon @ Mar 16th 2009 9:15PM
xcrunk, $2 is not too much for DLC. It's not like you buy every single song every week, anyway. I usually buy about 5 songs for Rock Band one month, then don't buy any at all next month because nothing of interest comes out...
I'm just not a fan of where the Guitar Hero franchise is heading and my ant-GH posts are a testament of that. I know I am not the only one mad at what is going on with all the new games and crappy DLC. Don't get me wrong. GH:WT is still a good game.
But stealing an idea and claiming to be first ("Isn't it called Rock Band? -We call it Guitar Hero World Tour"), milking the franchise and being generally inferior and only saying because of the popularity of the brand is what will, eventually kill Guitar Hero and maybe even the whole genre if the market gets oversaturated.
That makes me a sad puppy as it is the cheapest way to listen to my favorite tracks in 5.1, remastered and remixed and in higher than mp3 quality. I am an audiophile and I really appreciate the subtle difference. (And don't even get me started on MONO sound in Wii GH3 and overall crappy GH3 sound quality on every platform. GHWT mix quality was a huge improvement, by the way).
Roto13 @ Mar 17th 2009 12:46AM
"But stealing an idea and claiming to be first ("Isn't it called Rock Band? -We call it Guitar Hero World Tour")"
Isn't this called Guitar Freaks and Drum Mania? We call it Rock Band.
"I pretend that people smart enough to read gaming blogs like this are smart enough not to."
People who don't read video game blogs are smart enough not to be drooling fanboys, apparently.
Ratatosk @ Mar 17th 2009 10:36AM
+1 for roto. I completely agree with your statement.
RT @ Mar 16th 2009 7:55PM
I've been trying to resist buying this set for a while now, but this deal broke my willpower. I had a few Amazon gift certificates that were set to expire (gift certificates obtained as rewards through the Amazon credit card have an expiry date), so this worked out really well for me.
Of course I now need to figure out where to stash the drums when I'm not playing the game . . .
greg (peevmyster) @ Mar 17th 2009 1:42PM
That is the hard part. Sure they come apart, but they are still big and bulky.
Crusty Magic @ Mar 16th 2009 7:59PM
Rock Band ftw.
Player 1 @ Mar 16th 2009 8:35PM
Is this deal or similar deal on Amazon UK as well?
mike @ Mar 16th 2009 9:04PM
what scum bags joystiq, i sent this in over 2 hours ago.
FNG @ Mar 16th 2009 9:09PM
careful mike. I post a link to slickdeals .net and my post was deleted.
ScottG13 @ Mar 16th 2009 9:04PM
Too bad all the serious rhythm fans have standardized on Rock Band for the past 2 and a 2 years.
Too late Activision.
Ratatosk @ Mar 17th 2009 10:42AM
I sorry what. I still play GH and I find it more fun than rb and rb2. That could be because I am one of those people that are on scorehero. That do optimal paths and squeeze. I am just saying some Music/Rhythm game fans just find rb kind of boring. I love the game but I find it boring when playing with less than 3 people, unless I am doing a PFO or Score Duel as it is called on Rb2
ScottG13 @ Mar 17th 2009 10:53AM
Oh god. I'd never play a rhythm game without friends and drinking carnage going on. Its a whole nother ball game to be competitive.
So the competitive leaderboard community has likes GHWT? That's interesting.
Ratatosk @ Mar 17th 2009 12:04PM
it is very interesting. i mean we all for the most part love RB but its just like your comment say a game that is more played with people and less for competition.
Arkitekt @ Mar 16th 2009 9:28PM
it isn't GHWT news but Wal-mart Canada has the Rock Band 2 special edition for $149, while everywhere else still has it for $189 or higher in some cases (HMV and their ridiculous prices)
ccc @ Mar 16th 2009 10:42PM
GH has serioosly lost its way. World tour is little more than an effort to compete with the very machine that created gh to begin with. Rock band has all but destroyed the franchise. This is coming from someone that has been adament about gh and very much anti rb. But simply put Rb owns gh, never try to outdo your maker.
WiiFTW @ Mar 17th 2009 12:15AM
I went for it, was waiting for a deal on GH:WT so I could still play RB2 and GH:WT on one set of plastic controllers.
Spybreak @ Mar 17th 2009 1:01AM
Still waiting for the drums to be a reasonable price even though I grabbed the guitar bundle on release day but that was a while ago lol.
Tann @ Mar 17th 2009 3:37AM
Thats a nice price for the instruments..
They're seem so much nicer than the rb2 one's imo
Boff @ Mar 17th 2009 7:52AM
Can't comment on the RB instruments, only used the original guitar for a quick bash of 'Paranoid' but the GH:WT instruments are the business. The new guitar is bigger than the GH2/GH3 versions and the strum bar is less 'clicky' (if you've tried the GH2&3 guitars you know what I mean.) The drums kick arse too, the cymbals really help make it feel like you're actually playing the song note-for-note.
Word of warning to the wise: I did have to get the drums replaced as after about a fortnight the red one gave up on me. But you can also get a USB-MIDI cable from Red Octane that you can use to fine tune the drums' sensitivity from your PC. Very handy.
Thomas @ Mar 24th 2009 1:51PM
The announcement of Rock Band Beatles edition has ensured that I will not buy anything RB or GH related until that comes out. Because seriously, what could be better than that?
RichT @ Mar 17th 2009 2:52PM
I got this whole set for free in 2 weeks of little work. It's a great game. Timing is slightly different to the other GH games which takes some time to get used to but after that it's plain sailing
for those curious - www.rewards1forlife.tk < where i got it free
stormtrooper190 @ Mar 17th 2009 3:36PM
are the controllers blue tooth? if not why bother getting it
Xcess1ve @ Mar 18th 2009 3:54PM
I think they should implement a Jukebox like mode where you can listen to your favourite tracks without playing them. (I know it has been suggested before...somewhere)
Are they thinking people wouldn't buy the instruments if they did? Who doesn't enjoy looking like an idiot while rocking out with giant versions of baby toys?
I know I love it!
Shame they couldn't drop the price when I brought them.
