- Big Daddy: This one is a given, with one player taking on the role of Big Daddy, scoring points with each kill. The remaining players must work together (and against each other) to take him down, with the player that dealt the killing blow taking over the role of Big Daddy in the next round.
- Splice and Dice: This mode is team-based, and features one side of melee weapon-wielding Splicers who are allowed one Plasmid power. The opposing side is composed of plain old humans. With guns.
- Team Slayer: It's UNSC Spartans vs. the Covenant aliens in this fight to the death. Players fight until one side reaches 50 points.
- Little Sister Convoy: One team is tasked with escorting a Little Sister from Point A to Point B. While transporting her, the opposing team must take down the convoy and nab the Little Sister for themselves.
Rumor: BioShock 2 to feature multiplayer

If you ever thought to yourself, "Yeah, BioShock is great, but I really wish it had a CTF mode," then this is the post for you! The Game Informer issue with all of the details on BioShock 2 is finally starting to get into people's hands, and one tidbit indicates that the 2K Marin-developed sequel will indeed feature multiplayer, though the extent of that mode is uncertain at this time. We're not privy as to exactly what multiplayer modes will be available, but we've got a few choice ideas of our own.

Reminds me of a comment I made awhile back and a few people thought I was serious when I mentioned something about Abe Lincoln having written Dante's Inferno.
All these damn BioShock 2 posts are going to strip me of any free will I have to resist buying the first 1 off eBay or something in the next few days...

As long as it doesn't invade single player I don't care if they tack on multiplayer.

AIG Headquarters: squad based HQ where you invade Andrew Ryan's office and throw cash at him in the form of bonus checks as he let's Rapture fall apart. you know for outstanding performance. (sorry just a little bitter at current events)

Perhaps they meant Co-op? I mean, you are a Private Investigator, and every Sherlock needs his Holmes.

Actually, that rumor was false. I think it's been confirmed that you will now play as a big daddy.

I find the private investigator story much more feasible than playing as a Big Daddy. Plus all of the stuff on the promotional site points more towards the private investigator story, what with the doll from the trailer kind of being presented as evidence.

I like it when characters have a first and last name too, but it would be even better if you had a coop partner. Kind of like how Sherlock Holmes had Dr. Watson.

Does everything need tacked on mutliplayer now? I'm beginning to think they might even slap it onto God of War 3 somehow (I don't know how, but it looks like they might).
Good for the MP fans I guess. Lets just hope those leaked story details on kotaku are fake though. It makes the game sound really campy. Not the direction I would take but we'll see.

If you plan on playing this because of some tacked on Multiplayer, that's a little bit sad, considering Bioshock is one of the greatest games of this gen.

@ Look At This Suit:
This is about Bioshock 2, not Bioshock. It's a different developer, different game. Personally, I tried playing through the first one 3 times and each time it failed to hold my interest. And who said anything about multiplayer being "tacked on?" It might end up being a core aspect of the game for all we know. If there is co-op in the sequel I will definitely get it. If not, it's wait and see for sure.

I agree with Look at this suit it sad if you missed Bioshock just because it didn't had online functions what is wrong with you?
Mike you are being too positive, everybody knows that if a game doesn't focus completely in the Multiplayer experience said mode will be abandoned by the next month (See Darkness and Condemned 2.).
Especially in consoles mayor fixes and updates that Pc games get every 5 minutes consoles get them in months or never for example Gears of war PC got a lot of fixes while the xbox version as buggy and broken in comparison.
If you didn’t love it before I don’t know why a multiplayer mode would make you change your mind unless you carve that stuff with a passion (Honestly I hate MP since I don’t have a good connection). If you ask me it takes development that could be used to extend the multiplayer mode.

Well, I played through the first level or two of Bioshock. It's setting didn't interest me and gameplay-wise it didn't strike me as super exciting. I mean, what really convinced me not to get it was I had the most fun hacking machines, and pipes can easily be played free online.
Also, I believe single player games is a kind of fluke in gaming. All the renowned games of yore (Chess, Backgammon, Dominos, etc) were multiplayer. And single-player video games showed up mainly because of people who didn't have a readily available opponent (or group of players in the case of RPGs). And as multiplayer options expanded from same device, to modem, to network, games have allowed the multiple players.
Single player content will always be worse at telling stories than other forms of media. Great movies will always do a better job of telling a story through moving pictures and audio than a great single-player video game ever will. I'm not saying that all movies are better than all games, but when you compare the best to the best, a movie has told the story better.
What makes video games unique is the interaction, which is a hinderance to a narrator. But when the focus is put on the game (the interactions), players form their own stories. That's always been the case. If you even ask someone about their favorite game of Dungeons and Dragons it won't be about what an excellent story the DM told, it will be about that one time where this one thing happened. The best games have always been games that allow for interesting interactions, and ultimately the best and most varied interaction come from people.

I wouldn't care about MP either if it wasn't because brain damaged devs think forcing MP to people who don't care about it or have a bad connection is a good idea.
Also since consoles get updates as frequently as 3D Realms works in DKF these modes suck hard except for jackasses who abuse every possible glitch or sold their kidneys to pay a better connection getting an unfair advantage.
I believe MP games requiere skill the day having a batter connection than the other doesn't becomes an issue.

So, if they make the multiplayer... cut it out for the game to reach shelves on time. Then before the game is released, announce the multiplayer will be released "in a few weeks". Then, charge $5 for one territory, and charge $2 for another.

Team big daddy: each team has one big daddy, winner is the team that kills the opposing sides BD first. Killer from winning team, and top scorer from loosing team become the next rounds big daddy.
Team battle: 2 man teams, one splicer, one human, in a deathmatch.
Attack and defend: One team gets traps to defend the McGuffin, while the other team has to take it-plant a bomb-yadda yadda.
Or the above in two bomb-McGuffin mode.
