I hear you have to pay a monthly service fee to even use the iPhone for playing games. That doesn't sound very fun.

I hear you can get an iPhone without the cell phone service...oh wait it's an iPod! Amazing that they thought of that!

The two iProducts do not have full interoperability.

Amazing that you didn't know that!

Agree, it's quite a bit a fun for such a simple game.

I just went and downloaded this. Played for the last 10 minutes - it's fun. The controls work really well and the graphics are excellent. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys the 'endless onslaught' type of game, as another poster mentioned, it's like robotron/smashTV/Heavy Barrel or even Geometry Wars in that you can run around in any direction while shooting in another.

Biggest thing for me is that this is an arcade-style game with totally acceptable controls, everyone's first concern when talking about iPhone games. They really dialed it in well.

And for $.99? Wow. This might make me stop playing Flight Control for a while.

I like that Joystiq has turned into an advertisement platform for iPhone games.

Well they're already an advertisement platform for lots of other types of games, so why not? The iPhone has a huge following, is likely to be owned by the type of people who can afford to spend their days on a video game blog, and has very serious interest from both gamers and developers alike (MGS, etc). That's like saying that since the Wii is a casual-only game platform, I don't want to see any more stories about it or its games. And, in fact, it can be harder to find the quality iPhone games out of the huge numbers, so I, and many others, probably appreciate getting tips about how to enjoy gaming on the go. Don't let fanboyism cloud your judgment.

Ditto the above. Iphone is a valid gaming platform, and it is always good to know if a game is worth it's weight before laying down some money.

It's pretty goofy and I find it odd that they don't cover all the other cellphone games like Tornado Mania or 3D Tilt-a-World. It's not as if the iPhone is the first to do it. It's not even the first to have motion controls.

Seriously Marty. Also, what's up with all the Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo advertisements on this site?

I demand more stories about JOYSTICKS!

I like it too, Marty. I guess we can agree on something. Oh, wait, you were being sarcastic?

Just give in, man, I know you hate Apple but weren't you saying you wanted to try your hand at dev'ing some iPhone games? Go for it. Get on board and stop hating.

Some of the animation looks a bit stilted and goofy, but this game is plenty of fun.

Psh, all you fancy people with your fancy iPhones and your fancy apps. Back in my day, you had to walk two miles through the snow to get the reception to even SEND text message...and the phones were BLACK AND WHITE!

I'm glad you liked my recommendation so much, Justin!
I'm trying out the Oregon Trail, maybe I'll let you know how it is, if you're interested? It's $5.99 CDN, so it's a bit steeper than iDracula, but it's a really solid title so far.

Just a FYI for those looking to buy: The patch was today, and it added quite a bit. New weapons, locales, perks and play modes. It was a fantastic game before, with fairly solid controls (2 thumbs to control on both sides of the screen, one for movement, the other for guns; mid-bottom area to change weapons with the swipe of the finger ). I would still recommend it even with the price hike.
