It's really unbelievable that these games don't have achievements. They're missing out on a cash cow.

I have bought Stubbs in the past and really enjoyed it, but I also can not believe that they never have gave originals achievements. It looks like they would give each Xbox Originals 500 achievement points. 200 for XBLA games is good, and since these are full games I think 500 would be perfect. Lack of achievements is what has kept me from buying a lot more Xbox originals.

Ok, now for my question. Can people please help me out with my dilemma. I never had a original Xbox, I was a PS kid growing up until I bought a 360 and I love it. Had it since launch. That being said I never played Fable or thought it would be my type of game. But I bought Fable 2 and immediately fell in love with it. I got kind of addicted to it for months till I bought RE5 and I have been going through it. Is there any reason I should buy Fable if I already have Fable 2? I know some people complained about the original, and are the graphics good for a original? And is there enough difference between the 2 that I should buy it and play through it? Thanks ahead for any responses to this.

The original Fable had its quirks and was a glowing example of Peter Moleniux's (sp?) over-promise and under-deliver reputation. That being said, Fable 1 was a great game in its own right. Some people say they liked the combat more in part 1 and there were more magic spells to use. No guns though, just bows if I remember correctly.

The land is MUCH less open and much smaller than it's sequel, but that is to be expected. There is no co-op (obviously) and there is no dog. The story was well told but your narrator friend and quest giver was pretty obnoxious at times.

The graphics were outstanding for the time and are of the same art style as part 2. The graphics hold up pretty well today. There was an expansion to Fable 1 and if you are thinking about getting this game, I recommend hitting a video game store and buying a physical copy that includes "The lost Chapters". That will add a few hours of gameplay and quite a few new items. I am 99% sure it is backwards compatible.

Overall, Fable was a bit overhyped before its release, but it is one of the few well-received franchises that defined the original xbox. I enjoyed it greatly, and if you liked Fable 2, chances are you will enjoy it as well.

if you've played fable 2 i don't see why you'd go buy fable. it's sort of like re4 to re5. re4 was amazing, and re5 is amazingly good looking while being amazing at the same time... same goes for fable and fable 2. does that make sense?

What DiggyStyle said. Pretty much nails it on the head.

Lost Chapters or not, the original Fables was and still stands as one of the ten best games on the original Xbox. If you loved Fable 2, then you are going to love the original. One of the best parts about playing the original (post Fable 2), is seeing how most of Albion was so completely different in the first game. There are some places that are ruins in Fable 2, which were alive and vibrant in Fable, and seeing the transition from one to the next, is actually pretty damned sweet.

My #1 wish for Fable 3, is that once again, there is a 500 year gap between it and Fable 2. Seeing Albion 500 more years along in its future, and that era's take on the events from the previous two Fable titles, is going to be a blast. Not to mention, having a Fable RPG take place in an alternate version of the modern day, should prove quite interesting.

And who knows, if they do that, then Fable 4 will likely take place 500 years into the future. Magic and flying cars? Sure, why not. Should be something along the lines of Shadowrun (SEGA Genesis), just more open-ended and accessible. Definitely something to look forward too in another seven years.

Thank you all for the comments. I just went in and bought Fable. I would buy it on physical media to get the lost chapters, but I would have to drive about an hour to do so. I live in the booney's of Kentucky. lol. But thank you all again. And @ Heimbachae, I get what you mean about RE4 and RE5. Thanks again. Good comparison.

"Live silver accounts are forever shunned for choosing a life of evil and moral corruption. Be gone silver members ... BE GONE FROM THESE LANDS!" - Dustin Burg

I shall make haste and with me I shall take the $50 a gold membership costs and invest in games. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Seems that every other week, some retailer, either web based or B&M, that has a 12+1 card for $30. If you pay $50 for a card, you're a sucker.

5$ off is a deal? You have been able to get Fable + expansion for 10$ for years now.

One more reason why Microsoft needs to implement some form of Achievements for Xbox Originals.

Fact of the matter is, most of these games can be picked up used for less than what they sell for on Xbox LIVE. So gamers willing to shop around a little for the best prices, there is little incentive to plop down $15 on a purchase. However, should they decide to work Achievements into the mix . . . well let's just say, that you wouldn't be able to get new Xbox Original titles up fast enough . . . while will only lead to Microsoft and their 3rd parties, finally getting off their collective asses and working on that emulator until it works on 100% of all Xbox titles.

Now, I have only played fable 1, and I liked it, but it just felt like it fell short of being really...how to put it...open. Does Fable 2 fix this? I heard that Fable 1 fell short of Peter's promise...and fable 2 went beyond...anyone else feel the same way? Because, it looks good, but money is tight...

Fable 2 is an amazing game. I just took people's advice and downloaded Fable 1. I will be playing it tonight. But when I was making my choice for Fable 1 people told me it was not that open like Fable 2. So going by that I would say that Fable 2 is a lot more open than the original.

Why would I pay $30 for the right to transport data across the internet on top of the $40.00 I already pay to transport data across the internet? Just doesn't seem smart to me that's like buying lettuce, turkey and bread then paying for the right to eat it...

Regarding achievements, the recent Sonic Genesis Collection had achievements in almost every single game. If they can put them into Master System and Genesis games, I really find it hard to believe that it's that difficult to implement them into the Xbox originals. Adding them in would easily create a 20-30% increase in sales. How hard can it be?

Okay, I know I paid less for my copy of Lost Chapters two years ago. Only two dollars less, sure. But I got a box, a manual, and the extra Lost Chapters content.
