Capcom working on more PS1 classics for PSN

When SCEA's John Koller said Sony was looking into transferring more PS1 classics to PSN, he wasn't kidding around. Third-party companies like Capcom appear to be stepping up their game; strategic planning & business development VP Christian Svensson says the company has more PS1 titles down the line. "The first PS1 titles for PSN were submitted last week ... when I have some dates for them, we'll let you know ..." Svensson confirmed on Capcom Unity.

So far, Capcom only has one PS1 game in its classics roster: Street Fighter Alpha -- excluding the HD remix of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. The ESRB has hinted at Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3 coming to PSN for some time now, but these might not be the titles Svensson is currently referring to. Perhaps we'll see more Resident Evil games on PSN like in Japan.

Oh ppppllleeeeaaaassssseeeee Capcom! I'd love to replay these titles! I'd get them Day 1 if they come out.

sounds great, hopefully others will follow and maybe I can get all of the twisted metal games in psn.

RE games would be a great start! I would also be willing to kill for the original Metal Gear Solid! That's right! I am looking at you Konami!!!!

i'd rather spend my money on re1-3 ps1 classics than you know what.

I'll believe it when I see it.....and I really hope to see it. Hope they get the Breath of Fire games up there. Even better would be their catalog of PS2 titles, but we all know what that entails. THE RETURN OF PS2 BC ON THE PS3!!!!

Yeah.....uh.....that's a Square Enix game. This post is about Capcom PS1 games on the PSN. But I would buy FFVII just to support it, even though I already own the discs.

They need Resident Evil 2,Parasite Eve,and Silent Hill on PSN.

Sony should expand it's trophy system and make every ps1 game from now on have trophy support and also the ability to play a ps1 game while still signed onto PSN.

YES! Tron Bonne being no exception. My copies of them are starting to scratch so this would be a pro move by Capcom.

With RE 1,2,3 already on the Japan PS Store this should be really simple process. Well it should be simple we shall see.

honestly, even if there were PS1 capcom games that interested me, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable giving money to Capcom given the way they've been lately.

I would buy the actual PS1 disc before buying a PSN 'classic'.

I will totally lose my shit if they put up RE's 1 thru 3. Especially 2 and 3. Oh wow. Here's hoping.

This is the thing Sony needs to do more of.Use your of PS1 and PS2 games to make people want to upgrade to a PS3.

This something Sony needs to do more of with the US PSN.Use your backlog .Since there is not more backward compatiblity .Give people a way yo play older games on their PS3.And tie it into major relaeses .RE,Kingdom Hearts .DMC .New team ICO game etc.You have the power to fight the used game market .Do Sony .

ALL ps3s can play ps1 games. they're working on a software solution for ps2 games since that requires some hardware to work, but who knows if or when that'll come

Man, A RE4 for psp could be could, but that;s too much power it need i think.

Or at least RE1 and RE3.

Given that RE4 was on GCN and PS2, the PSP should have the technical power to handle much of it if ported well. But Capcom has not exactly been known for their quality ports of late. But it's not a PS1 game at any rate.

will the PQ of these PSN releases be better than original PS1 releases? if so i'm sold.Can't wait to play RE 1,2,3.
