Sony Computer Entertainment Inc and Nvidia have inked a deal to bring PhysX SDKs to registered PS3 developers free of charge. The partnership gives PS3 devs the binary version of the PhysX kit, which includes a full-featured application programming interface and physics engine.
And just like fellow middleware Havok, Nvidia PhysX is also free for PC developers. Most games developed with PhysX have been PC titles (Empire Earth III), but PS3 support seems to be growing. In the past, PhysX was used in 2006's Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire. Not the best game out there, but future titles that will harness PhysX in some way, such as the upcoming PS3-exclusive Heavy Rain, show much more promise.

the question is: would your penis now have PhysX free?

You still need a PS3 to use it unless you stole it.

Now, it has to be a little bit of a sign if they are just GIVING away dev kits now.

Oh Hai Gundam, never thought I'd find you in a Sony thread bashing the PS3. What has gotten into you lately?

That's not Gundam.
My IQ isn't bruised from the blunt force of his comment; that can't be Gundam

If it was Gundam Sprinkes, his account would be less than two weeks old since that's the maximum all his accounts have lasted, almost all his profiles are private and I didn't see "LOL", "bitches", "holier than thou", "pathetic Sony fanboys", "you reap what you sow" anywhere in his comment.

Don't confuse me with some random fanboy... I'm just making a comment and an observation. I actually wanted to get a PS3 recently. What in the hell is with you guys and the constant, ill-informed, derogatory comments for just about anything game related...giving us a bad name...
For instance, if I were to say.... Hey, is getting a PS3 worthwhile? or What's the failure rate of an Xbox 360? I'd then get a smattering of wikipedia-juiced snide comments all across the spectrum, just for asking a innocent and simple #%()ing question.
And yes I did read the article, tools or no its still giving away software that is $$$.
Or did your feeble little mind misread my comment, now take all the time in the world and nitpick this reply for hours on end to find something else nasty to say about it.
This is why I hate online gaming at random...exact same reason.

Not the best game out there? That's a little bit of a liberal interpretation.
As a UC fan, I believe I cried watching videos of it at one point.

The weird thing is that I remember it getting pretty good reviews from Japan. It wasn't really any worse than the PS2 Gundam games (which were mostly atrocious), it just wasn't "next gen" and they completely over sold it with the BS CGI cutscenes that people thought were in game.
Maybe the next Gundam game will up the bar. I hope it will anyway.

It's blatant at this point in time that PhysX isn't going to mean much to anyone until (unless) it is universally adopted. To take advantage of what PhysX has to offer, you've got to build a game around it. If you don't, the only thing you can do with it is cloth physics, or hair physics (for instance). Sony is the only studio that would be willing to create a PhysX game for the PS3, because they are the only studio that wouldn't need to worry about porting the game to the 360. It simply couldn't be implemented properly for a multi-platform title. Therein lies the problem, since no PC dev will commit to it (since a good deal of the market doesn't have the hardware), and no multi-platform console dev will commit to it because they want their games to be able to run on both consoles.
I'd say Havok doesn't have anything to fear this gen. Next gen though? If MSoft gets on board with PhysX, and Sony stays on board, we could really start to see some games that take real advantage of it. It's exciting, but then again, it's unlikely.

@ BananaBoat. Nvidia Physix is actually Ageais Physics. they bouth it from them. And the pc marked now is huge with physix because of nvidia. You now can run it on any nvidia geforce8 and up video card. Thats a big numer right there compared to the people who have the ageia physics card. and its not that difficult to make a phsyics game multiplatform on consoles because its all done in software and not hardware like the pc. clive barkers jericho, rainbow six vegas games all use ageia physics software.

hi!
Actually, Valkyria Chronicles uses Physx. Or at least it has the logo on the box.
Anyway, I hope we can see a mirror's edge patch, for example, with the PC Physx features. I'm expecting that some exclusives will use it, as it's real useful (working from de GPU is good for the overall performance). Ciao!!
