We've had some fairly extensive, extremely erotic Quincying excursions in our time, but we were shocked when SCEA VP of Marketing Peter Dille revealed that the average session within the glossy locales of PlayStation Home lasts 55 minutes. As Dille aptly points out, that's longer than an hour-long television program, sans commercials. You heard that right -- Home is now more popular than television.
All snark aside, how are you guys wasting your hours away whilst perusing Home's virtual offerings? Dance parties in the Home Square? Digging through new content in game-themed rooms? Decorating your den? Waiting in line to bowl? Aggrevatedly griefing those attempting to take part in the aforementioned activities?

i used to spend a lot of time in HOME during the closed beta but once it became open, i just got turned off by the number of immature people at use it(not saying they were not in the CB but less so). But im looking froward to the EA space that will come out soon, HOME can become something great it just needs that right spark to send it over the top

considering you get booted after being idle for like 10 or 20 minutes we know people arent just sitting there and leaving the PS3 on. Most time I've spent in there at once was like 2 hours. Bowling can be rather lengthy when you arent paying attention tho

About what percentage of PS3 owners (with their consoles hooked up to the internet) use Home regularly? I'm curious.

it depends, some days i try getting a better time in redbull. i checkout pulse in the mall. i watch trailers in the theater. i've helped a few newcomers and started bowling again. i try to at least log on once a day to checkout the message to see if any contest or events are happening because i won't find out reading on joystiq

I only boot it up occasionally, but at this point, maybe once a month...and once I'm in there, I don't hang out that long.
That said, I think I'd be more apt to use it if there was a Home Area for a game I actually played. As in, the EA Sports area looks really sweet, but I don't play any EA Sports games. The Warhawk area was pretty cool, but I don't play Warhawk all that often.
If they had an area for Killzone 2 or Resistance 2, on the other hand, where I could meet people and jump into a game with them, then I think I'd be more apt to load it and then hop into a game.
I appreciate the concept of Home...just isn't really for me in its current state...

doesn't really matter if you dont give anyone a reason to ever come back. the only times I've been on Home is when a couple new spaces have been released. I'll download them, check them out, then never return

Yes. Only go on it when my friends are around, to make fun of other people.

I go on once every day just to see whats new. Then i just stick around helping people with some of the small diversions home has. After that i walk around with my killzone outfit, while answering questions of where i got it, which is fun becuase i always tell people i was a developer for Killzone 2.I also like to stop by central plaza and dance for two hours.

So far Home is nothing more than another revenue stream for Sony. It's missing so many features that were originally announced and seems to be progressing at a snail's pace.
I've been in it a few times, and quincying is hilarity, but there are so many things that are just poorly done with Home, the whole thing feels unplanned and rushed. The Red Bull air race is screwy too, you have to just guess how you're supposed to start playing it, and even when you figure it out, it's tricky to get in.
When people are playing arcade games, you gotta stand in line. Fail. You can't even watch over their shoulder and talk to them, which is a lesser fail.
When you're playing pool, and people walk by, they don't see your character lining up the shot. Same goes for you waiting your turn against your opponent, you're standing there and all the sudden the balls move.
Come on now. This is the next generation. The least you can do is make people move, instead of relying on "magic". It's just really wrong.

The last time I actually used Home was about 2 weeks ago. I checked it out for a short time last weekend to check out the RE5 area again.
I am an Avid Home user, whom already spent $20-30 worth or virtual goods. Say what you want to say to me, what you won't dis-persuade me about what I do with my money.
Home does have that potential, it's just not up to task right, which is why it's called a beta.

considering home is one big commercial, comparing it to a tv show sans commercial seems kind of ironic.

I'm actually not surprised. Just because us hardcore gamers think (and know) that Home doesn't have much to offer, that doesn't mean other people don't think so.
Honestly, I've spent quite a bit of time in Home as well and still get on every now and then.

lets see,
5-8 mins waiting for it to start (including network errors).
5-10 mins waiting for various places to load.
1-2 mins waiting for other avatars to finally show up on the screen and not an outline.
5-8 mins waiting on line to play a game of bowling.
So a good 25-30 mins waiting around for the thing to actually work right. The next 20 mins are spent trying to ward off idiots and informing people how to start the red bull mini game. Yep, time well spent :$

I honestly have not used it much. There are too many problems with it to count.
It is fun every so often, but certain things (like the red bull air race), never seem to work for me.
I do enjoy "Quincying" however, and I feel playstation.joystiq should host a contest to see who has the best "Quincy" character.
btw, does anyone know how quincying got its name?

What I do when I get on Home is dress up into a helghast and just randomly say ''ISA get him!'' and ''It's the ISA!''.

I do that by accident too. Home has nothing for me, I get out as soon as possible.
The average session is probably longer then 55 minutes in reality. People like me accidentally bring the average down.

the closed beta was sweet, i felt like i was in a community of friends. now i feel like i'm in nyc and i'm surrounded by hoards of a mess 24/7. also the free house and clothes we got, haven't paid for clothes since they released into open. bring back the closed!

As most folk on Home are now wise to the art of Quinceying, I have been generally wandering round trash talking & looking for new content. As the new content is somewhat thin on the ground in Europe at least, I’ve been doing a lot of trash talking.
I am still waiting for the rumoured/suggested features such as Djs in the plaza and regular keynotes speeches by games representitives.
Not many game spaces going up. Ive been waiting for RE5 game space for weeks now. Its listed as available but always fails to download.
Games spaces tied in with game releases would be welcomed too.
Looking forward to the EA lounge for some karting, golf and poker.
Things I’d like to see in the future are - more incentives to invite people back to my apartment - maybe mp3 support, video support, picture support for apartment spaces. I suppose 'Kontrol' would be an issue here.
I would also like to see weekly video game related TV shows in Home Cinema - such as 'Area5.tv' co-op show from the ex-1up staffers. Top show.
Small graphical enhancements such as day night cycles depending on territory would be nice.
I believe Home has huge potential and I am aware of the Beta labelling but the progress has been painfully slow so far.

lol... yea.. cuz... and i'm obviously exaggerating here... 45 of 55 minutes are spent downloading all the spaces all over again (what a pain!)

the only thing that would make appealing to me, right now.... would be if Sony, since they do not have a real keynote at GDC, would have everyone meet at home to make their announcement... that way both the media and their fans will receive the information directly.

Its probably 55 minutes cause people get so bored they just fall asleep. Either that or just shut off the tv and walk away. I've logged into it once and there wasn't anything of any interest to do in there.

I used Home a lot in the closed beta. But it has gotten old to me. I don't really get what they think they are doing with it. They need to add more things like bowling and chess in my opinion. The redbull thing is lame and pretty much every game space has been ohhhh so boring. I just want to Quincy and maybe play some darts with my brother in law on there. Give me more social activities and for the love of God quit charging so much for clothes! I bought the hell out of that stuff at 50 cents an item but $1.50+ for a fake shirt my REAL Hanes chub pack shirts don't cost that much!

I have no problem with the loads of dipstick users droning on and on about their cheating ex's who may or may not show up at any moment and just totally destroy the whole Home environment... I hate waiting in line to play a virtual game however. Reno has 100 lanes. Why can't Home?
