Cry some more: Far Cry 2 'Fortunes Pack' now on Steam

Fire up your Steam client -- Ubisoft has loosed the Far Cry 2 Fortunes Pack on the PC gaming public. It's just a wee bit late; the DLC was originally supposed to be available by the end of last November. We're willing to forgive (but not forget -- we never forget) when new content includes the likes of a silenced shotgun. Take a moment to let that one settle in.

Priced at $4.99, the pack also introduces a sawed-off shotgun and crossbow (!) to the game's arsenal, along with two new vehicles -- a quad and the "Unimog" (Ubisoft's helpful description: 'a big truck') -- and five multiplayer maps, including the dubiously titled "Lake Smear" and "Jungle Seizure." We're assuming the latter doesn't flash a convulsion-inducing pattern of lights on your screen.

a silenced shotgun is SO badass. i wish COD single player had it. only single player. that would be the cheapest thing ever since martyrdom if they had it in multiplayer.

Martyrdom as cheap? I swear I don't use it but I wouldn't call it "cheap." Its just rather stupid. Sure its annoying, but once you realize some people use it, you for the most part figure out how to avoid it. Plus people don't really use it that much anymore, as they realize there are much better perks to use in that slot than that. I think it was more of a excessive thing at first then it trailed off.

Not until they fix the single player glitch that corrupts your save. Also Ubi is known for delaying their things and not telling anyone. The patch for the multiplayer was due early feb, then early march. Still nothing.

The "world" (read: gaming press) and I disagree on many things.

Really, there's only two things they'd have to change for me to put this disc back in my PS3:
1. Make the guards stay dead at the check points.
2. Stop random forced combat on the roads.

Change both of the these things and I wouldn't even mind driving over 10 minutes to get from point A to point B. With these mechanics in effect, driving across the map takes far too long.
