First Call of Duty: World at War map pack released

The first piece of downloadable content for Call of Duty: World at War is now available on Xbox Live and (coming later today on) PSN. For 800

($9.99), you can pick up four new maps for Activision's WWII shooter: "Station," a close-quarters underground encounter; "Nightfire," a large battlefield depicting a bombed-out Berlin; "Knee Deep," a huge, jungle-based scenario; and "Verrückt," the promised Nazombie expansion, which, aside from meriting its own trailer (posted after the jump), contains additional weapons, Perks-a-Cola machines and "electroshock defenses." Man, we had no idea history could be so totally awesome.

besides the fact that it's a ps3 game?

I actually just bought Killzone 2 the day these came out. I did buy the maps but then i wound up playing Killzone 2 most of the day instead. XD

damn i miss the pc 1st person shooter days. and look at what the titan pack is giving you for free(regardless of how you feel about the game)

Because it's not worth 10 dollars. For a team of skilled mappers, four maps, two of them being direct copy-pasta of previous stuff while the other two re-use assets, is pretty freakin pathetic as far as effort/pricing ratio goes.

On the other hand, it is still one more map than what Bungie or Infinity Ward ever gave us.

Bungie has a bigger team and can devote more resources to support. MS wants them to support Halo 3. Activision wants CoD every year and does not want the new one competing with the past ones. thats no excuse for poor support but on the other hand, they are totally different business modles

Same here...put CoD4 back in and it hasn't come out since.

replace "COD4" with "killzone 2" and you have it for me lol. except i didn't trade it...

Swap COD4 for Killzone, played it for a couple of weeks, finished the ranks (needs LOADS more ranks) and got Socom - completely turned me on to competitive shooters rather than arcadey shooters. It's not as pretty as Killzone or COD but it's AMAZING.

It's like Counter Strike all over again, good bye relationships, good bye early nights, good bye weekends!

They're pretty good so far. I just have to get used to them. The new zombie one is really fun.

Yeah, looks like the "new" zombie map is the Asylum map with coke machines.

I turned around and sold mine back to game stop to get Halo Wars while they were still taking about half the price for it.

The game was too rife with glitchers for me. Did they ever get around to fixing all of those maps?

If you can believe it, more people are actually playing WaW on XBL than Modern Warfare. I can't quite figure that out since so many people say that WaW sucks and MW is so much better.

And yes, they've patched it up so it's pretty solid.

CoD4 = CoD WOW , I don't think so...

Anyone still playing CoD4 is going to shift over to CoD4 2 when it comes out, guaranteed.

That is why I asked will anyone still be playing CoD WaW when CoD4 2 comes out, making the assumption that the only people who jumped ship from the first CoD 4, did so because it was another "CoD", and that as soon as the next one comes out, they'll jump ship again.

I'm curious to see if the game will have any true standing power when it competes with the next Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty game.

I am seeing some surprising statements, which may or may not be true.

I really have no interest in doing the research since in reality if you own either, you should have no trouble finding/getting into a multiplayer match. I will say this, some may think W@W is better than CoD4, fine, but Infinity Ward is in a league of its own compared to Treyarch when it comes to the Call Of Duty series.

you can add points to your account I believe online via a web browser on your account. Try that. I've seen some people work around that

they took the logon page off of the xbox website! and all the links to buy points are dead...

are you kidding? they fixed the glitching like a month ago. And the new update has spawn point fixes whoo!

It's so weird cause in the new maps I kept re-spawning next to my enemies.

Wow, that's still pretty pathetic it took them that long to release those fixes. After about 3 months of playing it, the game was just to broken for me, everytime a match would start, you'd instantly have folks on both teams running to the edges to drop below or jump above the maps.

It got so stupid after a while I just stopped playing. I'd spend so much time reporting all the cheaters every time a match started I just got fed up with it. I think the state those maps were in when they were released was just terrible.

Glad to see they were fixed finally for everyone who is still playing though. I'm just glad to go back to L4D

What sucks is that I got in on the Beta for this very early and ranked up to like level 40 in MP. Then when it came out I was so concentrated on the Single Player and Zombie mode that I never got around to playing some MP goodness. I'm only level 16-18, I don't even know. Other games came out and took me away from it. Now It's REALLY hard (thats what she said) to go back to it since KZ2 and RE5 are teh hawtness :( But I want that new Zombie Map, Damnit!

yeah you really hit the nail on the head. i like cod:waw and nazi zombies justified the entire world war 2 setting for me but then killzone 2 came out and i never looked back. i keep telling my cod:waw buddies to just go out and get killzone 2.

$3.99 maybe I'd bite. $10 well go * yourselves. I'm not paying 1/6th the price of a game for 4 maps that are already in the game, just slightly tweaked for multiplayer.

Pretty much guarantees this game is going in for trade in credit. Once a map pack comes out that is my cue for trading it in.

Well if this came out a few months ago i would have been able to buy in a heart beat. But when you injure yourself playing sports, your in the last year of high school and you have to stop your part time job because of the injury it isn't exactly easy to get the cash.

I'm not exactly sure where you have been but i hope you realize that we are in a recession a large amount of people don't have jobs and many others are having to take pay cuts to keep a job. 10 dollars is seen as a lot right now.

sorry bud, no hard feelings. We aren't as recession-effected in Canada. Our polar bears run the banks, no one messes with that.

You have a "unique" story, and everyone is entitled to their opinion as well as choice in how they want to spend their money.

Recession or not, if $10 dollars is an issue for an adult, then its time to reevaluate the situation, and put down the games for a bit.

$10 is what it would cost me for lunch if i don't bring food to work,and that's for crappy food.

Demand has crashed MS servers so no one can get on to buy points...

Dumbass system anyway...forces you to buy points you dont need and cant get em when big releases come out.

Can they wii even get the updates or map packs?
Without a hard drive I'm not sure their going to support you guys? That would kind of suck to program it to run from memory cards.
