I hate list wars and I too don't think the Wii has much going for it at all but it definitely has games, dude.

...Just not that many. First year and a half, though, had some good must haves.

Its a good thing, i suppose. Now that supply is stable in North America, NoA can, hopefully, start localizing more stuff. Equally, it poises Nintendo to do something bigger with the console across the board. A shot in the arm is needed in Japan, and we haven't heard a damn thing from far too many of Nintendo's internal teams (pretty much every one of them is working on a project that is either partially or wholly unknown at this point) for far too long

Nintendo is ready to move. And its going to be awesome.

I don't understand the Nintendoptimism around here. Keep in mind, you're speaking to The Fatass of Kickassness, you know, the biggest damned Nintendo Defender on this site this time last year. With that said, yeah, this year is looking pretty decent, but how much of that is thanks to Nintendo?

They've shown that they have no real reason to appeal to us anymore, because - get this - we're not their target audience anymore. Not a big deal, I still enjoy some of the Wii's offerings. Those expecting a shitload of AA/AAA games targeted at the core gamer this year, though... you're bound to be disappointed, because there's another audience out there, and they don't require supa quality to warrant dropping dough.

This may be true, now that sales are slowing they need to make something big. Of course to keep drawing people in they need more things like Wii Sports and the like. Non-threatening games to keep the money flowing from casuals going strong.

There is a certain element of optimism, but also a certain amount of certainty. Retro Studios, certain EAD teams, and HAL Labs are all ripe for name-drops. We know that the 1080 team is working on a Rock Climbing game

My expectations are grounded in what we know. Late 2009 should match late 2007 in terms of quantity of big-name titles (very hard, if not impossible, to beat Mario Galaxy, which pertains to any game company)

@MF Doom

I agree with that. This year the Wii is having some great games, but they're not first party. The remakes and cool and all and I'll probably buy Pikmin since I've never played it, but the new titles are taking too long to even get an announcement.

I know Punch Out and Sin & Punishment are coming. But I don't think I'll spend $50 bucks on each of them.

In the meantime I'll try to finish all the games I already bought and haven't had the chance to play yet.

Yep there has been a drought of first party Wii games lately. Also Nintendo hasn't done a major for the DS in well over a year letting the 3rd parties carry the water (and doing a great job at it too!). So you have to wonder what all those development teams are doing?

The story doesn't say that there is a DECREASED demand for Wii people. It means that Nintendo INCREASED supply to meet demand. Wii is still in high demand, as NPD will prove when it drops any time now.

This story just makes it sound like the Hoff is a totally washed when a story was just posted saying he had to use his "celeb" status to pry a Wii out of a salesman's hands.
