Gamasutra reports that this week's Japanese software sales are dominated by Sony consoles. Six of the top 10 titles are for Sony platforms -- three for PS3, three for PSP -- with Muso Orochi Z (known as Warriors Orochi Z in these parts) for PS3 at the tippy-top.
That's right, a PS3 compilation of two PS2 games is the number one seller with 112,000 units shoved out the door. Last week's winner, the PS3 version of Resident Evil 5, has slipped to number two with 61,000 copies sold. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 version of Resident Evil 5, which occupied the third slot last week, has slipped all the way to number 12. In its place is Rittai Picross for Nintendo DS.
Also notable: Resistance Retribution debuted at number 10, while the New Play Control release of Pikmin 2 for Wii hit at number six. But what about Sonic and the Black Knight, you ask? You can stop holding your breath; it came in 30th.

You think Sonic chose to run his series into the ground? It was Sega that caused his speedy descent. You can't turn tails and hide from that fact.
Come on, Sonic, step it up. You need to knuckle down and really blaze the competition. Until you do, you'll always be in Mario's shadow. You'll always take the silver medal. Just go back to your quick roots; that's how you'll tikal our fancies

or, make a sonic that is like Bionic Commando Rearmed...think of the greatness...they should just do that...none of the gimmicks, werehogs, arabian locales....no, just good old sonic, 2dimensional goodness, add collectibles, secrets, maybe a chao garden because i have a sweet spot for chao's, and we're good!
If they just keep running him into the ground, he deserves to die :/ im sorry

Agreed Black Knight was bad also is not like Sega only has Sonic seriously they release their collections OVER 9000 times I think its safe to say that most of its audience knows who the hell is vectorman.
A new ComixZone would kick so much ass.
(I still say Unleashed was good, srsly)

I think the location its in Chapter 2 or 3 and when Sheva is in the Dying status.
*Spoiler Free (although if at this point you don't know who is the boss of this game you haven't paid attention)
Damn it I failed the last mission 12 times because my A.I partner wanted to give the last boss a hug resulting in A.I partner Insta-kill.
Also *spoiler here:
The game isn't self explanatory; you have to taze the bro Fat Albert with the stick and then (you have to) boot (and with boot I mean use the rocket launcher, hopefully you'll have enough money or have picked one already from the previous fight) to the heart.

Screw Warriors Orochi! They managed to screw up something as simply epic as Cao Cao vs. Oda Nobunaga...
Meanwhile I'm all about the Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce....

Japan - We didn't like Sonic when he was good, and we certainly don't like him now!

Who said I was trying to be funny? It's the truth. Sonic was nowhere nearly as popular in Japan as he was in North America and Europe.

The Japanese know the score with technology and truely appreciate the advantages of Sony products.
We in the West are generally distracted by a low low prices and a "shiney" shooter like Halo.
Those Japs don't buy it. They look to the future and see the PS3 lasting while competitors with their nearly obsolete delivery media get left behind.
The Wii however will sell ANYWHERE.

Yeah I wish these games would at least go the Kingdom Under Fire route at least once. The AI in KUF is largely brain dead too, but thanks to the strategy elements of the game, you have more to do than just bash down hordes of enemies.
I'd also love to see a Dynasty Warriors-type game but with the enemy AI and control scheme of Onimusha Dawn of Dreams (or Devil May Cry). That'd be pretty cool.

I really don't understand what's with Japan's obsession with the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series. I mean they're all the same fucking games over and over again, you'd think most japanese gamers would realize this by now.

The Dynasty Warriors characters are from the extremely popular Romance of the Three Kingdoms books (now movies called Red Cliff, too). They're like the Lord of the Rings of the region, except based on historical figures too. I'm guessing Samurai Warriors is all based on historical figures as well. So I'm guessing people mostly love playing these games because of their love for the history/literature, and not as much for what's actually in the games themselves.
I have met some casual gamers who like these games because they are so easy to play, too.

I'v been playing games for as long as i can remember, NES, SNES, Atari, PS1/2/3, Xbox/360, N64, Wii... etc.
I played Dynasty Warriors 3 first, PS2, I'v been buying them ever since then. Because no matter how many other games I'v played or play, no matter how high the reviews score it or the acclaim, I'v owned no console game that I can always go back to and pick up when there's nothing else I want to do and just play for the fun of it.
I can simply pick someone from a crazy long list of characters and throw myself into a huge ass fight between armies. I don't have to do anything beyond fight with them, choose a path and try to mow down anyone in my way along with whatever ally I bump into along the way. When you buy a DW game you know you're getting a DW game, KOEI isn't holding a gun to your head. Get off your high horse. I'm glad they didn't try to "Sonic the Hedgehog" the series when the fans liked what was there in the first place.
