Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, get your plastic instruments ready: A demo for Guitar Hero: Metallica is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo allows you to rock out on bass, drums, guitar and vocals.
Undoubtedly the most exciting Guitar Hero release since the last Guitar Hero release -- but not nearly as exciting as the next Guitar Hero release -- Guitar Hero: Metallica is one seriously heavy metal game. It seems pretty heavy anyway, considering the demo weighs in at over one gig. Queue it up for download by clicking here.

The game looks a little less cheerful and colorful from what I've seen on the trailers, which is a good think... I'm still not convinced whether to get it or not. I own every single game in the series... I thought GH3 was ok... GHWT was... well... a little bit worse. But GH: Aerosmith was ABYSMAL. If GH:M is anything like it, NO SALE.

Yeah, GH:A blew something fierce. I only paid $25 for the disc and guitar and still felt screwed.

No. I am not an Aerosmith fan. I don't despise the band, though and find their music enjoyable in that 80s-90s sense.
What I hated about the game is... The lack of actual content. For the price of a full game, what I got was a (only partially!) re-skinned Guitar Hero 3 menu, not enough songs to make me happy, not enough iconic Aerosmith songs (they left the obvious ones out!). The "Story Mode" was not engaging, cover songs were cover and there was no replay value to the whole thing.
It was one of the most horrible attempts at a cash-in I've ever seen. They didn't even try, to be completely honest. I was quite mad because I paid the full price and the reviews were quite ok. And I wasted money on what WAS Guitar Hero 3, with less songs and less content for the price of Guitar Hero 3.

Well, it's not so much that they didn't even try as much as it is that they just really have no clue what people actually care about. Red Octane always puts SO much time and effort into the stuff that goes on behind the note track. All the character models, stages, backgrounds, etc.
But when people are playing they really don't care about that stuff. They should focus their efforts elsewhere.

Disadvantages? In your silver account? It's more likely than you think. It's a Microsoft thing, not a Metallica thing. Give it a week.

"Nothing Else Matters" is also the name of a Metallica song.

Those are ok songs for a demo. Obviously they can't put the best in there otherwise why buy the game?

Normally I'd make some snide sarcastic remark about posting in the wrong article, but that is such good news that I don't care that you did that.

they HAVE changed the format a little - it's more story mode than the other games, and there seems to have been more put into it in general, which is cool.
I'm a Metallica nut though, and would buy it anyway but think it's a pretty cool package - moreso than the aerosmith one

I think I might pick this up since I'm a big fan of Metallica... but will this allow me to buy DLC from Guitar Hero : WT since I wouldn't mind getting the Hendrix and Queen stuff.

Haha, nice hairdo on that bassist. Is that the guy from Suicidal Tendencies?

probably because it's based on the GH:WT engine and you can use the rock band guitar for that
