Mass. students protest Call of Duty: World at War dog violence

Do these people not realize that there are plenty of games in which you kill dogs? Furthermore, does these same people not care about that one World War I (?) first-person shooter (I can't remember its title.) in which dogs with grenades in their mouths attack you? I mean, damn...

I respect her right to act. Its cool. I know its just a game. Iam not going to get all upset because she does this.

A key thing to note is that once the nazi dogs had a taste for human blood (from being feed humans or consistently attacking Jewish prisoners) they had to be put down because they were changed.

In the end her cause is a worthy one in her eyes and at least she is doing something about it. I know too many people who just bitch and complain and do not do a single thing. It is just a game and if a person is already going to kill humans or animals in reality than games are not going to trigger the response in the human being.

Well, in the UK at least, it's a 15, so parents shouldn't really be buying this for their kids anyway. If they did, the fact that they have to buy it for them negates any right to then complain about the content in my opinion.

The only reason I bought this game is for the ability to shoot nazi dogs, its also the whole reason this game sells so much. Rating wise, I would've given it five stars if I could only shoot nazi cats. but alas, the swatzika bearing cats will live another day...(end sarcasm)

seriously though, it's great to have a cause and all, but she's WAY late to the race on this one. It only became an issue when she saw her brother or whoever playing it. I think you make a huge ass out of yourself when you rallly for a cause MONTHS after the fact that it's been happening or whatever it is you're doing. WAW came out in what? November? October? I don't really remember, but i'm sure it wasn't just this past week. It's not like she actively stumbled upon this either. She would have been comfortably numb just sitting in her room on her facebook had she not seen a dog get blasted by Thompson fire. First of all, the game lends itself to historical resemblance and is loosely based on actual events and war tactics. Nazi attack dogs are not fictional, and thus should contain such animals. This isn't a dog killing simulator in essence, and it isn't about "shooting dogs for fun" but rather re-experiencing an aspect in the harshest war the world has ever known for a good thrill and that cool feeling you get when you see something awesome and think "woah, this shit fo' real".

I think most college students feel it's their job to know more than everyone else and let everyone know about it, then look back 10-20 years later and realize they were complete idiots. So if one of these PETA folks had a dog trained by an enemy combatant chewing on their face, they wouldn't feel any compulsion to extinguish the hostile canine's life to save their own? I can somewhat understand their argument if you're shooting fake, simulated, not real, IN-GAME dogs that are running around playing frisbee with happy little children, but I don't think that is the case here. I don't foresee disillusioned gamers going out shooting Pomeranians they see walking down the street.
