I would apply to be a QA Tester, but - apparently now - you need a related degree to do that job.

I wish I could get into the Job expo part of GDC, but it looks like it costs quite a bit of moola

I was thinking of applying there for my placement year but I don't fancy living up in Scotland really. Wouldn't be too bad to fly from London though...

You'd be willing to fly to work from London every day?

Noone here is qualified either, because most of the degree programs for even the artistic side of video games calls for math on a level that blows my ****ing mind. The same goes for any tech field really....why kill myself doing calc or trig (which I...let's just say...can't do) so I can manage a corporate network or something, when I could just as easily get a BBA, make the same money at the same company, and push paper around? It may sound odd, but there just isn't enough incentive in this country to go Comp Sci, especially if you are going to do all that work just to land an entry level position at a developer.

At this point, I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that the only job I'm getting in video games is in marketing or management. 99.9% of the time it doesn't suck to be horrible at advanced mathematics that 99.9% of everyone will never have to use again after college. This is that .1% of the time when it does suck.

What a joke.

My friend has applied to this place twice over the course of a year and been turned down both times. He lives about 2 miles from the place - and he has a degree in Computer games technology and a very impressive portfolio.

RTW, if you want staff, how about actually giving someone a job instead of being twats?
