Last week, large-hearted gamers who attended Capcom's Resident Evil 5 blood drive event in downtown Los Angeles learned a very valuable lesson -- altruism won't protect you from the slings and arrows of comedic television personalities. Ben Hoffman, a correspondant for Current TV humor-news program InfoMania, got a chance to interview a few RE5-crazed hemoglobin spillers at the event, who were largely unaware that he was surreptitiously making fun of them.
As incensed as we should be at this flagrant display of disrespect, it's actually sorta funny in a Triumph the Insult Comic Dog kind of way. Judge for yourself -- you can watch the whole segment on the Current TV site.

A bit harsh telling the fat guy to walk more but very funny overall.

I'm not sure why, but I found that really funny. I think it may have been because you used a period instead of an exclamation point. You weren't shouting out the fact, you were calmly informing us.
"No biggie, just thought I'd let you all know."

I really didn't think it was funny. Like, at all. It came off as though it were trying to lightheartedly jab at the people, or maybe be rather cynical, but the "reporter" wasn't very good at ad-libbing. It made me think he was an idiot, and he didn't come off as even wanting to be there. Must really love his job.
But, then again, I never thought Triumph's "TO POOP ON!" was amusing either, so perhaps I just don't "get" this kind of half-assed criticism being passed off as a joke.

The Triumph comparison is more along the lines of the effing hilarious Star Wars street interviews he did:

Hey I was there! I'm in the brown sweatshirt behind the guy with the Dead Rising t-shirt. That interview was almost 20 minutes long... he must be a pretty shitty ad-libber.
I can't believe the sales guy forgot the "Not enough cash!!...stranger."

I didn't think he said anything really offensive and I actually think he did something positive by bringing to light an event in which gamers give back for a good cause. It's important to note that the same gamers that play RE5 or other "violent" video games can also be the same type of people that will donate blood or perform other charitable acts. :)

Keep working on that English. Sooner or later you'll come up with a coherent statement.

I dunno, the guy at 2:00 seemed to be more in control --and funnier-- than the 'reporter'...

He just invented it. Fortunately, he doesn't own it. It somehow fell into the public domain in the early 90's.... :)

That might have been funny if it wasn't completely not funny.

Just figured I rant for about two seconds:
Why the hell does everybody on the internet expect every damn clip to be hilarious, to have them rolling on the floor? This was an informative piece of journalism, grow the fuck up and deal with it.
That is all.

Because this was supposed to be funny, skippy. Did you read the message below the video? It said that the web show was "the funniest tech show on the internet" and then tried to be even more hilarious by saying "no source is available for that quote, it was most likely made up". Haha, hilarious stuff.

I wonder how many non gamers there are who don't give a damn about their community either.

Well I'm just glad the guys was taking the whole thing with a grain of salt and not doing the typical ironic/douche bag style of journalism you see in most features on video games or gamer culture.

Sarcasm, that's original! Sorry. Yeah I didn't think that was all that funny. He only interviewed the jackasses, which are going to be present in a Harry Potter blood drive, or NFL blood drive, or Lost blood drive, or whatever. But I guess most people probably know all gamers don't stay shut in getting drunk every day, and practicing wrestling moves w/ their friends.

Wow, that was great! The editing was concise, the interviews were well done, and I learned something about the blood drive that Capcom was sponsoring. Even though some of the gamers were a little crazy, the interviewer never laughed in their face or anything; he just let them do their thing and kept his distance somewhat. Overall, I thought it was a pretty positive piece, and one that was well-handled, especially considering how most of the media covers stories likes this. Well done!

Haha, you should've seen the stuff they edited out. The camera man was giggling most of the time at whatever the interviewer would say, and the interviewer kept making the bandana guy repeat something about eating potato chips. Had him repeat it about 7 times.
