BioShock 2 not waiving Sea of Dreams subtitle
It looks like someone at 2K missed the memo. After confirming last week to Joystiq that BioShock 2 had dropped its Sea of Dreams subtitle, 2K has now unconfirmed the news to Eurogamer. So, to reiterate, the full title is, in fact, BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. It's a shame because we were really hoping to pitch a new subtitle. Alas, it looks like BioShock 2: Big Daddy Day Care just wasn't meant to be.
Joystiq will be spending some quality time with the game in the very near future. Stay tuned.

Ugh. I liked it better without the subtitle. It sounds so cheesy. I suppose it's supposed to be sarcastic or ironic, but whatever, I think it lame.
Vegnagun bwf @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:33PM
Couldn't agree more.
Alvin @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:11PM
I agree, why not call it Bioshock 2: Electric Boogaloo?
ronniedobbs @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:19PM
Bioshock 2 the Streetz
lordwindowlicker @ Mar 24th 2009 12:57AM
Nah, I think it sounds fine. I would actually go as far as to say that I prefer it WITH the subtitle.

isnt that how you're supposed to do that?

After getting the new Game Informer with the Bioshock 2 spread I'm less excited than I was prior to getting the magazine. I want to know what this multiplayer concept is for the game because it could really extend the replay value.
I can't be the only one who thinks Bioshock doesn't need a sequel in the first place. The game was awesome and truly stood on its own as one of the best games of this entire generation. It really seems like a pointless cash in that is being made just 'cause. Hopefully I'm wrong and it turns out to be an awesome game but, with Levine not in creative control I have my doubts.
jorojoserojas @ Mar 24th 2009 3:19AM
That makes two of us. BioShock is easily one of my favorite games of all-time, and it's with much trepidation that I approach the sequel.
Saria the Cat @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:04PM
Drop the 2 and just give me the subtitle. This sequel already sounds like a huge deviation from the spirit of its predecessor, so it would be a shame to call it "Bioshock 2."
But, since I am a rabid Bioshock fangirl, of course I am still excited and will be following this closely.
EGOvoruhk @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:38PM
Agreed. Except for I'm not a fangirl. I have a penis
thediminished5th @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:05PM
fanpenis?
pibs @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:57PM
I also don't understand what the heck they are doing with the series. Hopefully it all works out and we get a solid game and not a sea of disappointments.
F1 @ Mar 24th 2009 12:16AM
Just to clarify: Boys have penis's. Girls have vagina's.
Saria the Cat @ Mar 24th 2009 12:19AM
I've been known to be a fan of the penis.
Nick Frost @ Mar 24th 2009 2:49AM
+1
McKeyDee @ Mar 24th 2009 3:58PM
It so happens that I have a penis.
Xan @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:05PM
lol, I sent in that tip 12 hours ago :P
Graeme Q @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:17PM
Me too :)
Mohulis @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:19PM
Surprisingly it takes time to read through tips, sift through e-mails, receive updates. Then, it takes some time to write and post. Why must people always complain about compilation news blogs being slow or behind the others. It has to start somewhere - and apparently most people read a majority of those sites anyway, so what's it matter?
altctrlpwn @ Mar 24th 2009 2:34AM
almost as bad as "first!" posts . . .
shut up already.
Xan @ Mar 24th 2009 9:23AM
lol, wow chill out peoples, it was just an observation. You all sound like I was all angry and "Friggen Joystiq! i sent that tip in 12 hours ago you suxorz!!" or whatever... I wasn't annoyed and it is you freaking out over nothing... bah...whatever..
Hyams @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:07PM
Am I the only one who likes the 'Sea of Dreams' subtitle?
Although 'Bioshock 2: Bioshocker' wold be pretty cool too.
~Snipes~ (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:08PM
sea of dreams is a REALLY cheesy subtitle. if the game wasn't so serious, it could work.
Xan @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:11PM
I don't understand why people like/dislike it at all... I'll reserve my opinion until I know how it works with the game itself.
KeenCommander @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:52PM
No more cheesy than the game's music. I think the idea is to be so obviously out of place to end up being creepy by way of being cheesy and then put into that context. Played right, it could definitely work out that way. Played poorly...we'll probably end up with the cash-in people seem to be dreading.
mynk @ Mar 24th 2009 1:00AM
i loved the "sea of dreams" the first time i heard it. it went perfectly with everything Bioshock ever stood for, and it was a beautiful ironic metaphor in that. not some cheesy sub-line.
Popfrogs @ Mar 24th 2009 1:35AM
Bioshocker, hahaha. Two in the pink, one in the...big daddy?
kentuckyfried @ Mar 24th 2009 3:43AM
No, I like the subtitle. I'm intrigued about how the series is going to play out and a set of 3.
~Snipes~ (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:07PM
am i the only one hoping that it get's dropped again?
Vegnagun bwf @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:33PM
Nope.
ice~ @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:08PM
Nice pun :D
Doug @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:41PM
Maybe the entire game is just someone swimming, in DREAMS. :O SPOILER ALERT!
linebeginstoblur @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:44PM
I like subtitles. Is it just me? When Halo: Combat Evolved, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Jak and Daxter and the Precursor Legacy just turned into Halo 2, Resistance 2, and Jak 2, I was a tiny bit upset. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I took it personally, it's just that I thought it came off as a bit lazy.
Wubbytoes @ Mar 23rd 2009 9:58PM
Seriously guys, just drop the subtitle. "Sea of Dreams" is so unbelievably cheesy.
bluesky_v2.01 @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:20PM
I don't really think the subtitle is cheesy. In fact, I quite like it . . . and I'm sure there's some deeper meaning behind it, maybe even some hint at the story that we'll get once we beat the game.
If it was Hello Kitty: Sea of Dreams, that would have been cheesy but this is Bioshock we're talking about.
Now, would you kindly stop whining?
Get@yaboy @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:30PM
How about :
Bioshock 2
"Play it again for the first time"
Who cares wut the title is, as long as it lives up or surpasses the first game...I think it will.
Popfrogs @ Mar 24th 2009 1:37AM
Personally I was rooting for Bioshock 2: System Shock 3.
DBuck_Eye @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:31PM
Aw...
Powaqqatsi @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:43PM
Just accept "Sea of Dreams." You know you want to.
Premature ejaculation man @ Mar 24th 2009 5:34AM
A man chooses, a slave obeys. DIDN'T YOU LEARN ANYTHING?
Jonathan @ Mar 24th 2009 12:03AM
Am I the only one who could care less whether this game has a subtitle or not? I can't believe there is actually a discussion about it going on.
Courtney @ Mar 24th 2009 1:07AM
2K has nailed free marketing. Just keep changing your mind on whether or not your game has a subtitle, and gaming blogs will throw up a post about it. Brand recognition folks, it's not as hard as you think.
Sexualchocolate @ Mar 24th 2009 6:48AM
Nail on the head there buddy.
Pwnzerfaust @ Mar 24th 2009 1:10AM
Am I the only one who thinks they're the only one that thinks a certain thing?
I do/don't care about the subtitle and would prefer if they removed/kept it because it is cheesy/thematically fitting.
I'M ORIGINAL
JoeRo @ Mar 24th 2009 3:35AM
Am I the only one who thinks they're the only one that thinks a certain thing?
What?
This post both confuses and frightens me.
Sexualchocolate @ Mar 24th 2009 6:47AM
This will probably get me burned, but....
i didn't really like the first Bioshock. Not my bag. I'll take Socom over Bioshock anyday. i think it's down to me being pretty uninterested in offline games these days.
Knowing the person you just shot is cursing you in real life is so much better than beating AI, then more AI, then more AI. I just rush through single player games now, just for the story.
New games are almost like a new sport to me, rather than the old days where beating the game was the target, getting good at the sport has completely overshadowed the game beating experience for me. As with Socom, I would prefer a £20 online only game to a £40 offline game with some online features tagged on.
Almost a shame that i can't really enjoy an offline game anymore.
