Max Payne 3 coming to Xbox 360, PS3, PC this winter
102
For all the things Mark Wahlberg has killed in his life -- The Happening, The Funky Bunch, The Happening Funky Bunch (short-lived kids show, don't ask) -- he's brought at least one thing back to life: The Max Payne series. His non-hit film adaptation will be followed by Max Payne 3, which Rockstar said will arrive in winter of this year on the 360, PS3 and PC.
Here's what Rockstar boss Sam Houser had to say about the sequel: "We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game. This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."
We think we speak for everyone when we ask this. ... More cynical? Really? Like, is he just stealing candy from babies and choking them to death with the wrappers?

I agree with you; I loved the first one (it popped my 3PS cherry, if you will). However, the lettering is making me wary. Why would they change the beautiful, subtle Arial font? They better not 'f' this one up.
And where the hell is Alan Wake!!!
Also, will we see Mona again, in yet another shower scene?

Is it developed by Remedy again? Or did Rockstar just pass it on to someone else?

And this is why I'm worried when I read that this is Max Payne "like we've never seen him before." I worry that it's because it's Max Payne in the way that he shouldn't be.
I pray that the developers actually even played the old games, unlike the movie studio. I loved the old games and I'm looking forward to a sequel, but I was looking forward to the movie, so... ugh...

Max Payne 3 is being developed by Rockstar Vancouver. They were the ones who made Bully.

Let's hope they avoid everything from the movie, lets just say the movie happened in an alternate reality or something and should not be referenced in anyway...
the games where lovely, I remember diving though doors into a room with like 8 dudes and killing all of them in bullet time before max even touched the ground, pure hottness.

Sort of like the Star Wars Prequels or the last X-Men/Spider-Man movies.

You're right. I mean, he's lost literally everyone, friend or foe, his apartment is gone, and he has a serious painkiller addiction.

This could be the most depressing game ever. Hope it's good though. I loved the first one, one of my favourite games. Still need to finish the second one actually. This will probably make me go back and finish it.

I slowly lull awakes to find myself in the depths of hell. "Where is my eternal sleep?" I asked the void. There was a smell of charred flesh stinking up the place. It might be the flaming bodies around me, or it just might be me. Suddenly something grabs hold of my feet and I feel myself being pulled deeper. Visions of those old sci-fi movies with wormholes. I was in one of those, and I was not going to like what's at the end. I finally fall through. To the third level. I find the energy to get up, shaking ashes off my jacket. "Time for another dance", I thought, as I cocked my gun.

Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking before I got to that sentence.
To really shake things up, they'd have to do a 'Max Payne' where he's about 20 years old, thinks he can 'be someone' in the world, is happy and optimistic about life, has a romanticized ideal of homicide detective work, but comes across as slightly naive and gormless.
That being said, I'm very happy to see Max Payne 3. I need a dose of bullet time! (and no, I haven't played FEAR 2).

Well if you haven't played F.E.A.R. 2 you should at least rent it but to understand the story better you would have to play the first game. Don't listen to the drones that say " that's for the best anyway." F.E.A.R. is a good series and the bullet time is just icing on the cake!

L.A. Noire as of right is still Exclusive....

It's been said numerous times that LA Noire was never an exclusive. As far as we know that PS3 exclusive that was exchanged for GTA IV exclusivity is still un-announced. Now, its possible the game is actually LA Noire but it has never been confirmed. In fact, when jack tretton was asked by Geoff Keighley if the game was LA Noire he said that the title of the PS3 exclusive is still unannounced. That could mean LA Noire is a working title or it could mean that the game hasn't been announced.

I agree with this. I guess the same could be said of Max Payne the movie. I thought Whalberg did a decent job with what he was given to work with. It's just the movie sucked balls.

I'm kind of frustraited with the direction they are taking with the franchise. I mean, at the end of Max Payne 2 he was at peace- suddenly, just to give him more charisma he needs more arbitrary tragedy heaped on?

I'm always nervous when they dramatically shift storyline. Hopefully this is closer to the previous games than "Splinter Cell 4: Cool Arctic Mission, Then Some Crap"
Most importantly, I hope they keep the voice over story board method of story telling in some fashion. That was always very cool and very different.

They should make it about a 40s Hard Boiled P.I- just go the whole way and steal all the dialogue from a Raymond Chandler novel. It would be sick and you know it.

also: to my infinite amusement they've *actually* indicated he's more cynical by giving him a hobo beard. Excellent. More game protagonists need proper beards. Not you, Fenix- your beard is an abomination.
