Rock Band 'Classic Rock' Track Pack set for May 19, all consoles
MTV Games, Harmonix and EA have announced the May 19 release date for Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii for $29.99. While GameStop revealed the same date and price a few weeks back, following an ESRB listing a few weeks before that, today we have official confirmation, along with the full setlist (which is set in stone after the break).
Additionally, purchasers of the Xbox 360 or PS3 version can download -- free of charge -- the on-disc tracks onto the console's hard drive (via Xbox Live or PSN), integrating the songs with any preexisting Rock Band DLC. It's worth noting that the Track Pack offers a reduced cost per song ($1.50) when compared to the $1.99 single-track DLC price. Of course, if you're as impulsive as we are (we done bought all these classics -- twice), then this entire post isn't really worth noting at all.

Song Import FTW! You heard that Activision? No sale for me though, as I already own quite a lot of those.
Archon @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:27PM
Oh yeah. And The Price is Right too!
ryanpaulmcgowan @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:32PM
Yeah, I own all of the songs I care about from that list =\.
The Baron @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:34PM
Yeah, I love classic rock but have maybe 60% of those already.
arrness @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:27PM
This isn't on the Playstation main page
Markez @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:40PM
Ha, nice. That is indeed one very classic rock. Well done.
Bagels: Commander in Chief of the lolcat sarcasm alert force. Flying Monkeys beware. @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:03PM
*Weak clap for photoshop'd* alright, alright, i appreciate that...
Roto13 @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:16PM
Hell yes.
Archon @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:42PM
Compeltiung? You German or sth?
rmjohnson124 @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:50PM
so what about all the people that already have a bunch of these songs? and WHERE IS PINK FLOYD? Led Zepplin? You just know Stairway and Comfortably Numb would be HUGE on Rock Band.....
Archon @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:05PM
Wow. Are there really people who don't know that there won't be Led Zeppelin? It was said millions of times before: they DON'T WANT to licence their songs to anyone in gaming industry.
Pink Floyd on the other hand... Yes? Where are they? My favourite band, goddamit!
BxGT @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:22PM
I love led zep but every time i hear about them i like them less and less.If they don't adapt to new mediums they are going to lose their last ten fans.
The Baron @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:29PM
Pink Floyd on RB would be simply immense.
They have such an incredible range of fantastic songs that I'd happily buy a track pack of them.
Jigga @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:36PM
This track pack is for people who don't donwload tracks either because they don't know how, don't know its available or don't have internet access
Xeones25 @ Mar 23rd 2009 5:05PM
Or just the fact that these are cheaper. I don't buy the songs online.
I bought the Rock Band Track Pack Vol 2 for $7.50 on clearance at Target (so $0.50 instead of $2 a song).
I've been trying to get the AC/DC pack, I'm not going any higher than $1 a song.
LuiginDaisy @ Mar 23rd 2009 5:03PM
BUT WHERE'S THE QUEEN DLC?
CrashSpyro123 @ Mar 23rd 2009 5:23PM
Then you already own the songs and don't need a disc to rip them all again. The track packs are mostly collections of DLC for those without internet, credit cards, or whatever reason they have to get new songs for their collection.
Fane @ Mar 23rd 2009 7:56PM
Ummm...as with all the Track Packs, all the songs were previously released as DLC, so no Floyd or ZeppElin.
Agreed that both bands should be in Rock Band, but if the bands won't sign a contract, WTF can Harmonix do?
Pretty unusual definition of Classic Rock, though. Dead Kennedys? Siouxsie? Really? (Not that they aren't good songs)
Ryan @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:53PM
Wow... 1994 is considered Classic Rock...
Doug @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:07PM
I saw that too--and the answer is, no, It's not. lol By definition, there are at least 4 artists on here that aren't classic rock. lol
nbcaffeine @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:20PM
It doesn't have to be old to be a classic
Ryan @ Mar 24th 2009 8:35AM
Still makes me feel old...
I dont know what does it worst though.
That I KNOW what the "real" classics are, or that some of these "classics" are what I listened to in highschool.
Martin @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:54PM
Exhibit A of why I hate the music industry. How many fucking ways to classify something do we really need?
Ok, I feel better.
Doug @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:22PM
@ nbcaffeine
Perhaps-- but the bands/artists in question are neither old OR "classic," so they really shouldn't be here lol ;)
In all seriousness, they really aren't classic rock.
Rocketboy @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:36PM
Nor Rock...
Siouxsie and The Banshees: "Kiss Them For Me" (1991)
Dave @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:05PM
I think I'm lost on the definition of "classic rock." Maybe 11 of the 20 tracks could technically be defined in the "classic rock" genre. I wouldn't consider Dead Kennedys, Police, or Siousxie Sioux as "classic rock", and Lenny and The Stone Roses just like to think they are.
~Snipes~ (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ Mar 23rd 2009 5:34PM
i would consider the police classic rock, thank you very much!
Fane @ Mar 23rd 2009 8:01PM
By definition, anything which is Post-Punk is not Classic Rock, so, no, the Police aren't Classic Rock.
Awesome, just not Classic Rock.
Doug @ Mar 24th 2009 3:50AM
Fane - Actually, that's not really true...
The term "Classic Rock" was coined around 1980 as a format for radio station programming. "Classic Rock" rotations exclusively consisted of 'Album-Oriented Rock' (AOR) music from @1965 - (roughly)1985. The Police are indeed "Classic Rock," and were staples of every "Classic Rock" radio station rotation in the country.
On a side note... it's annoying when people mistakenly think that, the older a song *becomes*, the more it fits into "Classic Rock." In other words, they assume that in 2008, a song from 1994 is now "Classic Rock." In truth only AOR music from that specific time period is considered "Classic Rock," if we're really going by the letter of what the term meant...
Josh @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:04PM
While the fact that the Wii is getting it, I will not personally be getting it because of the lack of the import feature. I do not want to have to insert a separate disc to play these 20 tracks when the PS3 and 360 don't have to! It's so annoying how the Wii is still getting gimped!
Archon @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:06PM
Yeah, because it's like Harmonix is doing that on purpose.
Matt B @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:12PM
Yeah, Harmonix continues to gimp or screw Wii owners over and over again. Half of the songs aren't available for the Wii DLC yet. Hell, most of the songs that were already DLC'd haven't been released for the Wii yet. At least Activision doesn't pretend they are not screwing me.
Archon @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:23PM
You screwed yourself buying a Wii.
baby sea tuna @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:30PM
Seriously. The Wii version of RB is kind of a joke, but you can't blame Harmonix for that. They've only got so much to work with.
SeeBee63 @ Mar 25th 2009 12:01PM
Archon: You screwed yourself buying a Wii.
No. Actually I screwed my wife... now I have kids. That's why *I* bought a Wii
blairseip @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:11PM
Of course, the track pack also has one advantage over its DLC brethren...it will actually go on sale at some point.
Sarth @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:12PM
Love Spreads gets on but not Under the Bridge?
scaught @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:12PM
Okay, I am a huge Dead Kennedys fan. I am not sure if they count as classic rock. They stick out in this fucking list like a sore cock.
(sorry for the lewdness, Dead Kennedys bring it out of me)
Cole @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:31PM
Hmmm... I may buy this... I dont have any of them lol
Deeznuts420 @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:44PM
CANT STOP, CANT STOP THE ROCK
Jim @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:57PM
Anyone else ever wonder why Indy didn't duck underneath the track & let the big rock roll past him? Had to be another way out...
yolarrydabomb @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:09PM
Steve Miller Band HELL YEAH!
Kyle @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:36PM
Will this come bundled with a one-time use code for song importing?
Megaqwerty @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:57PM
Yeah, do the Track Packs just have the option to transfer songs to the HDD or do they just include one time codes?
What I'm asking is...can I just rent this or do I need to wait for it to go on sale?
Xeones25 @ Mar 23rd 2009 5:08PM
You need to wait for it to go on sale.
The code could probably be used on five PS3s like all PSN downloads but you would need the sign-in of the first person that registered it.
RotNRollHunter @ Mar 23rd 2009 4:57PM
DK? Classic Rock? since when Harmonix? and when am I gonna get more Metal to Shred to?
syclone0044 @ Mar 23rd 2009 6:00PM
I bet this sells only 20% as well as Guitar Hero: Metallica does.
Fane @ Mar 23rd 2009 8:06PM
Given that most of the songs have been available as DLC for months, I bet it won't even sell that well.
Also, some idiots think the current Guitar Hero games are the true successors to the first two (and Rock Band is the imitator) and buy them on name value alone.
People are stupid.
peterike @ Apr 22nd 2009 2:03PM
This song set is totally an epic fail. Rehashed songs already available, plus a bunch of lame new ones.
Pass.
