Splur? I grabbed the video myself, it's working on my end and I've heard no other complaints.

Awesome. That shows a lot more promise than I thought there would be.

And now I'm happy.

This looks really good. I'm pleased with the authenticity in regards to the original.

I wonder if it will include characters from SNES Super Punch-Out?

I'm sure I'll be flamed for saying this but here it goes anyway.

Whats the point of this game? It's pretty much the same exact game as Mike Tysons Punch Out with updated graphics. It would make more sense to me if they used the Punch out name to do something more modern. Something like what ready 2 Rumble was supposed to have been from the start. I'm just hard pressed to pay $50 for this game when it's exactly the same as the original. For the record I know a lot of other games like Mario kart are also essentially the same sans new graphics and tracks but the difference is the addition of online multiplayer.

I guess people would complain if it was so different as well. Can't please everyone I suppose. I remember the old school punch out in the arcade with the wire-frame graphics and punching sticks and that was pretty much the same as this as well. The game has always been about dodging and countering which doesn't lend itself to multiplayer which, I thought, is the purpose of fighting games.

Maybe they have surprises up their sleeves that we don't know about that will keep things fresh. The reason Fight Night has replayability is because after you win the title and get bored of the single player you can play your friends or go online and play.

I hope it's awesome and that I'm wrong. This sort of game was awesome back in the day but seems pointless now a days for a full retail release. If it were a Wii Ware game (maybe it is?) I would be down for it but not at retail.

To a certain degree I do agree with you, but there is something fun about playing something updated that hasn't been around for a while. I know there was a Punch-Out for the SNES, but it hasn't been the same fun and exciting title since the original NES game. And I think people have been wanting to play a newer version of that for sometime.

I mean, take Zelda for example. I'm sick and bored of Zelda. There was some article a while ago saying that 2008 was the first year WITHOUT a Zelda game in 10 years. That means in some sort of way there has been a new Zelda every year for 10 years, and I think that is why I didn't have the heart to finish Zelda Twilight Princess, it's dull, it's the same thing essentially every year. Zelda needs a break and sometime away before coming back as something better.

At least a real Super Mario game comes out about every 4 to 5 years... Yeah there's some sort of Mario game out almost every year. But the true Mario games like Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy come out with 4 to 5 year gaps to make it not so dull and repetitive. Same thing with Metroid. Super Metroid was a sensation, and not counting the handheld sequel, there was an 8 year gap until we got a Metroid game on a console. Then from Super Metroid to Metroid Prime was another 8 years. The same example could be done with Street Fighter IV, it's been years since a real Street Fighter game... Capcom took a break from that series, and it came back a hit, even though the game has essentially not changed.

Punch-Out has been long dead for about 20 years. But the original still has a following and fandom if you watch for example the Team Awesome video on Youtube.

I think what people want is that old fun and excitement back, yeah it maybe the same game from 20 years ago, but there hasn't been anything like it in 20 years.

Eh, yeah, there's not much to hoot and hollar about from seeing this video. Looks pretty bland almost. Has potential, I mean the 1st one is one of those few NES games that is actually still kind of fun to play. Have a few VC titles that are borderline unplayable now. All the fun was in the uniqueness of each opponent and the mechanics involved with each fight, but you don't really seem to get a taste of that from watching this. I hope its awesome as well, but who knows, could be a quick & easy cash-in on those of us with delicious nostalgia for the game.

Looking forward to your press conference, Johnny. :P

i agree to some extent, I know that online mode would have been a great plus. And i do disagree in the sense that this game does serves itself to some good 1 on 1 action.I mean wii boxing did it right for the most part.
I also dont think it will use the mechanics of the original punch out. There is for sure some new mechanics, even new ones compared to the Super punch out game. And regarding new features, the controls choice do count as new features.
I think there is some sense in the expectation for this game.Because it has quality inherited, its a big name, and it hasnt been properly done in over a decade(since the 93 punch out). Its a long wait. And while next level games might not be right in the balance department(Strikers2), they do provide some good quality.
Take Mg3 over mg2. new features, more of same.Just improved and well tuned.Insta classic.
Picture this as deeper more complex punch out with updated visuals and head to head mode.Potential winner.Im getting it .

that video just got me pumped.

hearing that hearing made me relieve my nes days.

looking forward to this game. a few things irk me though and that seems like mac doesnt seem as much of an underdog as he used to. Doc looks like fat albert. and the run animation doesnt look good.

im wondering if they are going to make mini games as a way to restore power/health. It seems that way with all of the training.

I also noticed in the game the characters appearance changes as you are boxing, based on how beat up they are.

there were some sound effects that seemed a bit too cartoony though - i forget when, but if you listen close your like wtf is looney tunes doing in my punch out.

I'm going to say there will be 5-10 hours of playability with very little replay :-/

heres to hoping for some good online content or DLC - like new boxers

@Bissy

There is at least one major innovation in the wiimake: multiplayer.

Sorry, but watching Mac and Doc training (especially the iconic bike scene) almost brought a tear to my eye. I'm officially completely pumped.

only having 13 fighters is still too little for me to get that excited. they could have made this game huge and they didnt. they could have taken fighters from the nes and snes versions plus new guys...

This is looking more and more like it's going to be one of those games that just makes you happy when you play it. I love the music in the trailer, too. I'm officially amped for it now.

It makes me kind of sad to see Glass Joe getting beat all the time. Poor guy, I wonder if his record has improved at all?

I like that the more a character gets hit, the more damage is visiable.
