samfish is right. those games are possible. the graphics would suck compared to the originals, but the gameplay would be there in mint condition, if not somewhat improved by well-implemented waggle controls. hell, they would be possible on PSP!

Look at the problems Capcom had porting Dead Rising. You have to build it from the ground up for the Wii or it will be really bad in comparison. Now, in some select cases The Wii version is more fun like Shaun White Snowboarding for example.

I can't say that I agree with everything exactly, but I totally appreciate his candor. That's pretty uncommon in this industry.

here's a little something about development costs on the wii in comparison to 360/PS3.

I think Pete Wanat speaks the truth. He is just speaking from the position of a cynical industry professional. He wasn't afraid to speak the truth and tell it like it is. People seem to be taking what he said out of context and are just getting boiled up over nothing. In the end (like Wanat says) nintendo is laughing all the way to the bank. Lets not get into a fanboy tizzy and micro-analyze every statement the guy made to try and discredit him. I'm glad to see someone free of corporate shackles who is speaking what he feels.

Might have helped if he sounded at least a tad more eloquent than a 12 year old drunk who just discovered a few new bad or cool words.

I mean even if he would speak the true wisdom of gods, sounding and looking like he does, people would look for the tin cup to put a dollar in or quicken their pace when they pass him, eyes averted in shame.

Someone really hates everything I have to say. It's awesome to noticeably feel the effects of fanboy rage.

Don't call me dear, and I'm not a fanboy I just detest Nintendo's new marketing direction. I don't even play enough video games to really have an allegiance.

Well he sure knows how to make a generic shooter. The demo was like Winback 64 on an airplane.

Wait.....let me get this straight. A guy who developed a bad game, based off a bad movie, based off a bad comic is criticizing the a successful console system? I'm......lacking the connection as to how he even ties his own shoes in the morning with that intelligence (or lack there-of). I'm not going to defend the Wii and say it has tons and tons of awesome games that your run-of-the-mill core gamer is going to be excited about, but I will say that of the gems it does have, you can't get that experience on the other consoles (so far). I'm trying to think of something nice to say about the ps3.....but it hasn't been turned on in a while. The xbox360 is pretty good at filling any gaps I have with any Wii game categories (so far fps games....and a proper Dead Rising).

Generally what I find confusing is that all I read is how the Wii is a toy, and a kiddy system and how it has nothing for the "hardcore" gamer. Then we see what happens when system exclusive games come onto the other consoles such as Gears and Killzone etc.

So in the first half of 09, the Wii will have 4 titles that the PS3/360 won't have that cater to the Hardcore, House of the Dead, Madworld, Conduit and Indiana Jones. I am looking for an honest answer, I know a lot of hardcores have Wii's. I read a ton of complaining how they haven't picked up their Wii in months because of no good games.

For those who have Wii's but are NOT fanboys (not like me), what is stopping you from buying any of these games? What makes them different than any other exclusive?

House of the Dead being a rail shooter might be fun when friends are over, but nothing I'd sit down in front of alone.

Madworld just doesn't appeal to me. I don't find the violence in that game amusing or yeah awesome!, since it really is too much violence for violence sake for my taste (and of course for the sake of selling to a certain target audience).

The Conduit looks really bland and the only reason it gets hype is because it is the only shooter to come up on the Wii and focusing on tech. Not that the tech makes the game look better than a Metroid in the end. Art/Design is king after all.

About the Indiana Jones game. Haven't seen a whole lot of it, but what I've seen put me off more than anything. Indy doesn't look "right" and I generally don't trust any Lucasarts game these days. Especially not a game that also has PSP or PS2 mentioned as platforms also.

Generally I shake my head at these "hardcore gamers" hope titles. It really is more of a sad list that says "look we get something like title xy on console xy".

For me a real core title would've been a proper triple A effort Dead Space game which would work perfectly with their main selling point of tactical dismemberment. But they killed that off the moment they put it on rails. Games I want is a Zack & Wiki 2 with Motion Plus or other exclusive games designed from the ground up for the Wii that actually use the strengths of the console instead of slapping on some waggle.

Playing GTA on my DS right now I can say this is a grand example of how you pull off a triple A title on an underpowered system and play to the system's strength. And I'm not even a GTA fan.

Sooooooo.... Now that GRIN has *three* titles bomb horribly (Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Bionic Commando, and Terminator: Salvation), anyone think Pete is really regretting his words?
