It's been roughly five months since the Nintendo DSi launch in Japan (144 days, actually) and the updated handheld has been selling like gangbusters. Famitsu (via VG247) is reporting the landmark number of 2 million units, a figure that amounts to roughly 14,000 units being sold per day in the country since its launch.
To put that in some perspective, the DSi has been outselling the now totally boring DS Lite at roughly 7:1 on a daily basis in the country since its launch last November. 100k every week in Japan -- on average, no less! Our hats are off to you Nintendo, patiently awaiting some soup. You see there's this recession thing you might've heard of. We're not doing so hot ...

A quick search for "DSi SDHC support" on Google seems to point to yes. Between the leaked neoGAF spec sheet many moons ago and the now released DSi, you'd think there'd be something solid out on the internet. The closest I could find was this:

I've put out a question to CAG's CheapyD who owns a DSi and we'll see what he has to say.

Thanks, Ben. I did a bunch of research as well and while all signs point to yes, I'm reluctant to purchase a large capacity sd card until I know for sure... Yes, I could wait until the dsi is in my hands, but I need to be prepared! (Also, I'd like a good ebay deal).
Can't wait to hear what CheapyD has to say.

Bang! Question answered. Will still see what Cheapy has to say but this sounds like as good of an answer as you're going to get from him.
Thanks for the help, ramuji!

So, in 5 months, one out of every 50 Japanese owns a DSi. Indoctrination is progressing well, I see.

DSi supports all DS games NOT needing the Game Boy cartridge slot to function (i.e. Guitar Hero)
